An old body has been found in the old water treatment plant and a mystery rises to hover over Abby's Grandmother, Hazel Morgan. To make matters worse, Hazel refuses to talk about anything that happened thirty years ago, casting suspicion that she might have been involved in the murder. Abby is forced to move quickly in order to discover the truth.
But will the dark secrets she uncovers help, or will they just make things far, far worse?
Too many bad edits, silly story. Plot takes to long to get going. Would not recommend. Very armature and again massive editing problems making it at times hard to read. Bad character development.
Good book. This was a continuation of the first book. I liked the characters, plot and setting very much. My only problem with this book and the first on in this series was the countless typos. This is not the author's fault. It is the fault of the publisher or editor. I understand that. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
while I enjoyed the first book, the author hasn't done much with character development. The main character has gone from trepidation, regarding investigating, to acting like she's a full fledged detective. I can see working up to this kind of attitude but not such a jump in 2 books. Also, SO SO SO many typos and a few inconsistencies. I'm continuing on withe series ONLY to see what is going on with the senator.
I am enjoying this series. I always am a little apprehensive when I start a new series. I was anxious at the beginning of the first one Hot tea and Cold murder, when it seemed like the story was going to get too wrapped up in the death of the spouse of the leading character, Abby Morgan, but luckily that is not the case. Abby quickly settled into the small Red Pine Falls community and finds a new best for in a cafe owner,a handsome forest ranger friend, and a nice doctor friend. In the first book so much happens to Abby, that you can't he!p but pick up the second one. This book is very fast paced, and a delightful read as you get to know more about the past of Red Pine Falls and all of its characters. Abby is constantly getting into trouble and you are anxious to find out if she is going to solve the mystery or keep getting shot at. I am enjoying these easy reads with great twists at the end of each book.
Angela Blackmoore is a very talented writer. Her story is well written with interesting characters. While the main character is a young woman still getting over the heroic death of her husband a year and a half earlier, she is full of life and adventure. Living with her husband's grandmother who is also an understanding and lively person, she some interesting adventures. What I enjoyed most about the story is the range of ages it represented accurately as well as a love interest and the mystery. It also helps that at the end of the next book is a teaser that peaks your curiosity for the next book in the series. All in all an excellent cozy mystery.
25 years ago, Grandma Hazel's brother, Rob Morgan, disappeared; but a body has been found at the water treatment plant and the name tag on the shirt has the name "Morgan" on it. Did Rob leave town, or was he murdered? Then there is the mystery of Hazel's wealth; she's never worked, but always has money at the ready...could it be the hidden treasure from a great-great grandmother?
I am enjoying the way the characters are developing in this series, especially that Abby Morgan is "finding" herself. There are a few characters that need a good punch in the nose, and this is the author's way of showing readers that even small towns have their good along with the bad. Who is my favorite character? Well Cheerio of course, who doesn't love a lovable dog!?!
Welcome back to Red Pines and Abby Morgan and her friends and family . A skeleton was found in the old water plant and a powerful and semi-corrupt local state senator starts causing trouble . Grandma Hazel is hiding something from the past and Abby, Becky and Gabe work to solve the problem .
As with the previous book , there is a cliffhanger ending leading to the next story . Having lived in the Pacific Northwest forests , I enjoy reading about the area and how true to life the author is to the area . Now to wait for the next book .
I enjoyed this cozy mystery! I read it as a follow up to a prequel story by the author in the 3 story book “Three Carols of Cozy Christmas NYE Murder”. While I enjoyed learning more about the current-day characters in the series by this author, I hope other books in the series will revisit and provide more details of the story of origin for the series. That felt unfinished in the short story and I want to know what happened to the heroine’s ancestor. I recommend this book.
Such a great series of mysteries set in the woods of Oregon. This time Abby learns that Grandma Hazel has a brother who disappeared long ago. The mystery behind the disappearance involves the sister of a Senator whose body just happens to be found now 25 years later. Follow Abby and her friends as they try to find the brother and untangle.tje mystery.
Just like in the first book, which was ok as well, there are quite a few punctuation issues with this story. A LOT of quotation marks either missing or not where they should be. People depend on technology to fix their books. Just READ it and you can fix the issue.
Solid read. Not great but okay. Who's body is it? Why was it found at the dam? Abby sets out to solve another mystery. Is the body anything to do with her grandmother? The characters could have been stronger but the romance angle is well done. Not a terrific read but a solid cozy.
and you will too! Living in 120 degree weather in Phoenix makes Inland OREGON stories much more than exciting warm cozies but also gives me a chance to pretending am living in a place with a change of season, RAIN, and trees ENJOY
Well written plot, strong characters and suspense. This is truly an excellent read! There is also signs of an upcoming romance along with a little humor. Read this book, and you will not be disappointed.
Fun book, great and mostly lovable characters, and the story left me feeling good. I enjoyed the mystery, and the " done it" part. Loved book 1 , and really looking forward to book 3! This author makes reading fun, thank you!
I love finding authors I have not read and ms blackmore is a great writer. I love the first two books in the series and am looking forward to the third. The characters draw you into your lives and the story keeps you wanting more. Awesome story.
There were a lot of missing quotation marks in this, and I had to keep rereading to figure out what was verbal and what was inner monologue. Engaging otherwise, though.
This is the second book in this series. It has a good mystery and good characters. The characters are developing nicely and are a good support. I probably would have given it a higher rating but still found several typos. Overall a good read.
