What a clever premise for this gentle spoof of a book.
Language at the beginning makes it seem as though Muldoon, the dog, is well employed, and as though he's very-very successful in the world of business.
But then the fun begins. Such a contrast between the narrative's flattering portrait... versus what the illustrations show the pooch doing: So many laughs from this little picture book!
AND DON'T MOST GOOD KIDS LOVE STORIES
ABOUT GOOD KIDS WHO ACT NAUGHTY?
My son loved such stories the best, couldn't get enough of them.
And then he grew up to become an Eagle Scout, etc.
For many reasons, parents and kids may develop a soft spot for this delightful picture book.
Thank you, author Pamela Duncan Edwards and illustrator Muldoon. (Joke! I mean, illustrator Henry Cole.)
