When my brother and his problems had me coming back to Stales, my hometown, I was scared not just for my twin’s health, but also because I knew I’d run into Law, my bear-shifting ex and the sheriff of Stales.
Our breakup hadn’t been grisly, but after nearly two years, the thought of seeing him again had everything tightening in me because … I still loved him.
But that was the past, and I knew I had to move on, right?
LAW
Brittin was the only woman I would ever love. She was it for me, even if she broke it off because of my domineering ways. I screwed up when I lost her, and I spent the next two years regretting it. But she’d wanted space, and when she left for the city, I let her.
But now she’s back, and it’s my chance to show her I can give her everything she wants. It’s my chance to show her I can be the man she deserves.
I just hope I haven’t let too much time pass, because not having Brittin in my life is a fate worse than death.
Warning: This short story features a growly bear shifter and a stubborn heroine. It's hot, to the point, and you'll end up wishing you had your own shape-shifting alpha to keep you warm at night. Bear With Me was previously published under the title “Yes, Sir” and was included in the Cuffed and Claimed anthology. It has since been slightly revised and re-edited, but the story itself is the same.
BEAR WITH ME: Twenty nine year old Brittin Clarke got that one phone call that she had been dreading, her twin brother is in trouble yet again from drunken disorderly out of hand behaviour and needs her help bailing him out and placing him into a recovery programme so she’s on a fast track to get back to her home town of Stale where she hasn’t stepped foot in for about two years..
Two years ago she ran away from all she love and cared about and it all leads to one man, Law, a bear shifter, who is the Sheriff of the town now.
Law is an old fashioned type of guy, he loves fully but his alpha dominating old school attitude pushed Brittin away, he's now got to prove to her that he's a changed man, she's it for him he just has to convince her that he's it for her too.
Brittin was the only one I wanted. She was the only one-human and shifter alike-that I've ever wanted.
TO SUM IT UP: This is me totally out of my element but if I don't try this genre how will I know if I don't like it or not? Soooooo new author to me, new genre to me. Bear me is spoken in 'Dual Perspectives' For me to give this 5 stars it needed to be longer, more of a description of the characters identities as we got nothing of what they looked like, and more in depth of why exactly they broke up in the first place. But overall you still connect with the story, a short sexy smutty read.
It's rare that I'll read a second chance mate book because I think mates are forever and therefore shouldn't break-up, separate, or end their relationship. However, I enjoy JS so I thought I'd give t a try.
Overall the book was ok. I liked that they were both celibate during the 2 year separation. I also enjoyed the growth that the Hero displayed.
What I didn't like was the fact that sex lead the reconciliation. They had a brief conversation in which the heroine walked out on because it pissed her off and yet she decided to have sex with him because she "wanted it". They discussed taking it slow and getting to know each other YET they still had sex and he still claimed her...,how is THAT going slow??!! They both contradicted their words of wanting to work on their relationship and wanting to be right for each other by having sex!!
This could have been a 5 star read IF they had worked on their emotional relationship rather than their physical one first....
I liked the book, it’s sorta different from the usual shifter fated mate story. Law (H) and Brittin (h) broke up 2 years ago because Law was too overprotective and controlling as he just wanted Brittin to be a stay-at-home spouse even though Brittin really wanted to have her own career. Both were celibate during their separation. What I didn’t really like and it was not fully explained was why did Law not go after Brittin after realizing his mistake. He said he knew he was wrong in his controlling ways as soon as Brittin left but he never came after her.
I went old school and saw this novella and sounded intresting.. it has little steam and relationship low angst.
Brittin been away from her hometown for 2 years now shes back because her brother is in a mess, another reason she dreading coming back is because of her shifter ex Law. They broke up because he wanted her home being his mate not going after her dreams he was sorta controlling, thats what pushed her away and ended their relationship and he let her go. Now he's a changed man he knew he was a idiot for the way he acted back then. Now they get a second chance to right those wrongs.. since they both never stop loving eachother.
Ill be honest this was a wired shifted book for me.. since we only got one real scene of his bear, and for mates or shifter i didnt think you could leave your one true love.?
Really low angst, No ow/om drama, no cheating, Tiny drama, sexy times, no virgins
Recommend- maybe Cover-⭐⭐⭐
Instalove/lust 29h/idk Second chance Slight push away from h No condom Shifter Safeish Seperation 2 years Both faithful Hea Epilogue
A great quick read that I enjoyed reading. This is so awesome and these two are so made for each other if they can only except each other for who they are and not want to change the other.
Brittin left town 2 years ago because of the man she loved was smothering her and she just wanted to be excepted for who she was, wanted to be and not who, what he want her to change too. Now she was returning and she still loved the man she left, but she was returning to care for her brother. Law has never gotten over what happened with Brittin and regrets the way he acted, he still loves her and now she's returning to take care of her brother.......
This was a short but sweet shifter book by Jenika Snow. Brittin never wanted to come back to her hometown of Stales again but her twin brother, Blaine needed her. She left town two years ago to get away from her horrible childhood memories and because she broke up with the love of her life. Lawson Blackwater is a bear shifter and he's now the sheriff of Stales and he has never stopped loving Brittin. Her brother Blaine is an alcoholic and she came back to make sure he goes to rehab and gets the help he needs. Law is determined to make Brittin realize that he's changed and that they're meant to be together ... forever.
The H and h used to be together but they broke up because of the H's way of thinking. The h left but came back in her hometown after 2 years because of her twin brother. This is a second chance story and I must admit I personally don't like second chance romances but this was an ok story. The H knew and admitted his mistakes and wanted to be a better man for h. It was a short read and just ok. It wasn't steamy enough for me. There is an epilogue but not that far out. No cheating and no ow/om while they were separated.
One thing I appreciate about authors like Jenika Snow is that you pretty much always know what you're getting into when you flip open one of her stories. Dual pov, possessive H, detailed sex scenes, and HEA. The roads leading each MC to his/her HEA may differ but the basic principles are really a garuntee.
The more I review on Goodreads, the more I begin to think that I should rate books not only as individual stories, but also as similar formats. Meaning...this particular book, rated against all other romances I've read is around a 1 1/2, being generous. But rated against others in the Snow/Steele/Riley/etc. construct, it's about a 4. Combined for an overall rating of around 2.75, but we'll call it a, 3. *At this point, I think the most important question I must ask myself is...why in the h*ll am I doing math at 1:30 in the morning?*
It was a decent yet typical Snow read. Like I said, I knew what I was getting into, so any negativity would be unfair. That said, the only thing I wish would have been different was getting a clearer picture of who Law was before the breakup. We're TOLD, repeatedly, that he was overbearing and wanted her, basically, barefoot & pregnant in the kitchen. We never get to see that side of him, though. So while I can appreciate that Brittin gets to witness his character growth, I never got to see it for myself. I'm not going to deduct for it, of course. Anyway, other than that? Aces.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, second chances, naughty fun, and heartbreak.
This is Brittin and Law’s story. Law and Brittin were together but and in love but Law’s thinking of how Brittin was to live broke them up. Now two years later she is back in town to help her twin. Law knows he messed up and is out to prove he was wrong and claim his woman. The love is still there and his bear is all over claiming Brittin as their woman. Now just to get her on board.
I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I don't normally read supernatural romance books, but I had to read this one, HELLO!!! Its a Jenika Snow book so of course I had to read it!
I'm glad I did. This was a short dirty read that had me wanting a possessive alpha man like Law. He is hands down the most possessive, dirty talking man I have ever had the pleasure of reading about *swoon* total babe!
I do believe I will be reading more shifter books add the few I have read are sizzling hot and plenty dirty.
Law is a bear shifter and the sheriff in town. Two years ago, he pushed too hard and Brittin, the love of his life left. She's back in town to help her brother and Law is determined to make Brittin realize they are meant to be together.
This was a quick little romance with a happy ending.
I dislike the heroine Brittin... She loved to run away. First was two years ago, when she didn't like the way Law envisioned her being his housewife kept pregnant at home, rather than be a career woman.
Law was an alpha bear shifter. You cannot crave his alpha-ness and yet demand he be a sensitive new age guy girl! And she too admitted that she had not fought back, fought for their relationship. She just ran away to the city, wanting her "space".
Despite his agony, he let her have her space and time away, respecting her wishes.
But now that she's back because of her bro, he's not letting her go again! He remained faithful to her the past few years, and knew the error of his ways that drove her away.
He was man enough to admit TO HER right off that he was an asshole and his male chauvinism was unacceptable to her. What did dear girl do?! SHE GOT UPSET THAT IN SPITE OF REALISING HE WAS WRONG HE DID NOT GO FIND HER EARLIER. Then she ran out of the diner, where they were supposed to TALK IT OUT.
So off she ran but couldn't resist Law once he touched her.
I'm so tired of TSTL heroines...
A very short story and I am not sure why this author got such rave reviews when the past couple of her books did not work for me.
A tantalizing and sensual trip down memory lane with a hot as Hades bear shifter, and the one that got away…
Jenika Snow is swiftly becoming another favorite for me when it comes to quick reads with heart, character, heat, and lots of alpha male. Bear With Me is the story of Brittin, a small town girl with a huge heart and an independent streak to match; and Law, a bear shifter and sheriff of the small town they grew up in and a growly, hard headed alpha male that wants nothing more than the woman he loves. Ms. Snow packed this book full of sexual chemistry, unfulfilled dreams, and a hard earned happy ending. Her characters are well developed for the length of the book, with a depth that makes them easy to love. The plot, and storyline may not be completely unique, but they are well constructed and carried out. The cover is 5 stars of hotness, and the blurb contains the right hook to lure you in. A great read that appeals to my love of shifters, alpha males, hot sex, and happily ever after. Another rockin’ read from Jenika Snow.
This is a short book, only 88 pages, so there wasn't a chance to build much of a backstory or for character development, although Jenika does a good job introducing the main characters. I enjoyed the book; Britten is a human who broke up with Law, her bear shifter boyfriend 2 years ago because he wanted to her to be a stay at home wife, "barefoot and pregnant" attending to him and his needs. She wanted a career and more independence so she moved to another town. She returns when her brother gets in trouble and Law decides he needs to let Britten know he has changed. They are still in love with each other but Britten doesn't trust Law. I liked that they both stayed celibate for the two years they were apart and planned on taking things slow as they explored their relationship, but right away they end up in a sexual relationship while taking it slow on the emotional relationship. I would have liked to see that switched. Still, reading this book was a nice way to an afternoon.
And when they have sexy names like Law, how can you not fall in love?!
I enjoyed reading the re-instalove that happened between Brittin and Law.
They had a relationship that ended and an unfortunate event brought them back together .. Even through all of the grief, they found a way to come back together and resume the love they both were yearning for, the last 2 years ..
Overall, this was a great story. Very quick and straight to the sexy point. An alpha shifter who knows what he wants and goes for it, and a girl fighting her feelings for the very same alpha? What's there not to love!!!
If you're into sexy shifters, alphas and instant everything, than Bear With Me is the book for you ..
Brittin comes back home to help her twin brother. Mix in the love of her live is the sheriff. Brittin went away to become someone. While her brother followed in their father's steps.
Lawson "Law" is the sheriff of Stales. He is a grizzly bear shifter.
These two have been separated from each other for two years. But they have been in love with each other all that time. They just needed to work something's out.
When they get together it seems like something's don't change. They still have their chemistry for each other. The sexual chemistry between them is very 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Their story was a really good book.
Lawson “Law” Blackwater was sheriff of Stales. Two years ago, he had the best woman in his life, Brittin. Then things fell apart. Now she is back to take care of her brother who has fallen off the wagon. But he needs to make things right. He wants Brit back. Brit knew she needed to get her brother to rehab to sober him up. She also needed to clear the air with Law. She plans to stay but she needs to be sure that they can be in the same town. These two both love each other and as Doris told him, they are both stubborn. Things did finally get resolved. They had to clear the air about the past.
Quick easy read! I like second chance love stories but I felt a little left out by what happened in the past. We were only quickly told about why they separated and I wanted more....Maybe it was because of the length of this story but I wanted to see why they split, how they survived without each other and how they changed. Loved the fact that they were both celibate the 2 years they were apart!
I loved this book. So many of her books are amazing and this one didn't disappoint. Law is a hot alpha bear who has lost his lady by his own stupidity. When she comes back to town he is willing to put it all on the line and get her back. Well written and a total page turner!!!
Wow!! This book just pulled at the heartstrings. Loved the story and the flow of it. Just an all around feel good story, that I will read again. Just loved everything about this book. Just freaking awesome!!!
A sweet second chance story. Brittan left Law a few years ago because of his control issues. Now she's back to help her brother and Law can't let her leace again. Loved these two!
I liked that this was a second chance for Law and Brittin. They had such great chemistry and I am glad they both saw how to make their relationship work. I am also glad that Blaine got help.
Second-chance romance, heavy on the hot sex, but Snow isn’t a great writer. The conflict isn’t really present– they both admit to being in love with each other and then they just kinda… stay apart.
