As far as steam level goes I would give it four stars. The chemistry between Deana and Lord Rockwell was instantaneous. But it doesn’t have a true HEA! There is still a lot left unanswered at the end of this short tale.

I’ve read the other title. More wicked? Okay… I’m confused… why publish a ‘sweet’ version of the SAME story under a different author name?
Also Lord Rockwell is listed as book #1 of the Chateau Debauchery series on kindle and book #2 on Kobo (and GR) and this title is listed as book #3.

And it isn’t ‘sweet’ as I thought… the difference is in the spanking. Otherwise it’s the same. And the Indecent Wager (less raunchy) one still has ropes and refers to spanking that took place and has been edited out, so it makes no sense. You get the aftercare but not the spanking.
Plus, the book stops at 60% and the rest is an excerpt of another story. The heroine of that story is Ms Sherwood, when the heroine of this one is Ms Herwood.
I mean… ffs. It’s in the SAME title.
Same publisher so its not that they’ve bought back their rights or something.
Plus, the two author names are not listed as pseudonyms.
And the works are EXACTLY the same.

This is porn. Nothing else. Pure porn.


How can this ever fall into a romance category? There is nothing here but a sexual encounter between a woman who lost in gambling to a man who would trade 50 pounds of her debt for a night of pure fu&king. That's all this is. Nothing after that. It stays on that one night of se%.

I purchased this book because I was under the false impression (thanks to the very wrongly category of steamy regency romance on Amazon) that I will actually read a story. Not read about two people boinking each other as the main focus with absolutely nothing else to follow.

I am beyond mad that this can fall into historical romance and steamy regency romance categories because it doesn't deserve to be there with the rest. This has as much of a plot as a porn video "with a story" where a guy comes to deliver pizza to some woman and then they boink and then he leaves, the end.

If you are looking for a se% scene, sure go ahead but even in that it is really below mediocre but if you are looking for something to actually read, for some actual characters and storyline, you are certainly not going to find it here.

A Sensual Tale

Lord Halston Rockwell offers Deana Herwood a night of pleasure to pay off her gambling debt to him. She thinks it is a simple task, to lift her skirt and be done with it. But she soon learns Rockwell is a skilled lover who has particular tastes. For a night, Rockwell will teach her body what it craves. The banter between these two is delicious, and Deana proves she is not a wilting flower which intrigues Rockwell even more. He’s also surprised how delectable Ms Herwood is and that he is about to break his own rules. I love how feisty Deana is and shows Rockwell that though she is cautious, she can’t resist the promise of pleasure she will experience at his hands. An Indecent Wager is the sensual version of Submitting To Lord Rockwell in the Chateau Debauchery Starter set. But their story is not over, though. The sequel for these two can be found in Submitting To His Lordship. Ms. Brown gives us a well written, intriguing and sensual read.

I think this book is mistitled. It isn't a romance at all. THERE IS NO HEA.

Deana spends her time in gaming halls because that's her only means of earning a living and she has to support her aunt, her mother, and herself. She loses a wager to Lord Rockwell and, as she is unable to pay, he demands one night with her as payment. At the end of the story, they part ways after the night together and she goes back to her life and her straitened circumstances. How is this a happy ending? Nothing was resolved for Deana. She still has no money and she still has to find a way to support her family. There is no indication that Lord Rockwell even wants to see her again. I feel cheated that this book was billed as a romance.

This is more like a novella or a short story. You should be 18 or older. The story revolved around Deana and Lord Halsten Rockwell. They are gambling and Dean loses her bet. She can not cover the wager. Lord Rockwell offers her a different repayment option. She accepts. The different option does not require money (she gambles to support herself, her mother and her grandmother). The story is more about seduction and who is doing the seducing. This story will draw you in and you will want to know what happens next. The author tells us that this is a steamy version of an erotic tale. I am not clear as to whether or not this is a prequel to her other works or not. It was an enjoyable read.

This audio book was a nice afternoon break for me. I am generally a fan of short stories in any format. That being said, I really enjoyed the fact that I was able to sit for an hour today and listen to this entire story. I like the erotic taste in this book and the wager that it is based on. Em Brown does such an exceptional job of narrating this piece. I felt transported to the time period which made it an even richer experience.

the most important part of the book was suppose to her "punishment", however there was no mention of him flogging her until the conclusion. It seemed to be a last minute addition instead of just leaving it that he tied her up and played with her body. That addition brought down my enjoyment of this short story.

A good but too long of a Story for this Book.
I enjoyed the Characters of this Book, albeit the Story kinda dragged on a bit to long for my taste.
In the end, if Halsten had told Deana how he was trying to protect Lady Isabella things would have been more relaxing for Deana.
And the Story would have flowed much better.

I got this as a freebie under Em Brown's name and thought that version was a sample for the full story, turns out I was wrong that was it. I enjoyed reading it but kinda felt like there was more story to tell. Hope I find more just like this.

I read this as part of a box set but was confused by some of the context. It seemed like I was missing something. It was then that I realized that there are two versions of this story, a romance version and an erotica version. I decided to read the erotica version to see the difference. I think I would like the tame version better if more time was taken to adjust the story instead of just taking the erotic scenes out.
