Please The ending has been modified from a cliffhanger to a transition. On his way to return Shira to her home in Shinkya, Pol Cissert is called upon to solve two mysteries. His reward is something he has no desire for, but he must put that aside while he travels to the exotic and dangerous country of Shira’s birth. He finds that deadly politics badgers him every step along his journey
I write action/adventure fiction with a definite proclivity towards Sword & Sorcery. I like magicians, but I'm less partial to unicorns, dragons, elves and dwarves. But give me a hero with a magic sword and I'll make him sing... Wait, I already have!
I've published a number of works under the CasiePress imprint and there are more to come.
I'm an older guy (Guy!), married and all my kids have grown up and given me grandkids to dote over. I've read thousands of books and found that in most cases, I'd rather write than read.
Great book up until the confusing/disappointing end...
(Spoiler alert... kind of) I am not a fan of books that develop a man character over the course of a series and then introduce memory loss as a plot twist to redevelop the same character all over again. I typically find this to a cop out and was disappointed to see the author go this route at the very end of the book.
I also don't understand the actions of anyone at the end of this book. The main character is suspicious of being betrayed but leaves his main weapons behind? His alleged betrayers/saviors only recourse is to steal his memory and drop him in a foreign country? His companion (who can secretly talk to him without anyone hearing) is suspicious of potential betrayal but remains silent? I actually really enjoyed this book but the ending left me confused and disappointed.
I've been wondering why through all the books, I'm on the last one now, why you've made Shira so unlikable. She is prone to several mannerisms that do not endear her to the reader at all. I keep hoping you will split her off to fall in lone with that general down south. Give Pol a chance to meet someone who values him instead of resenting, arrogant, passive agressive, maybe ambitious and being jealous of his abilities. She is strong and can be without the pettiness. I guess I will see. He is likable but a a co character she hasn't been.
He’s still meandering through life, reacting to things as they happen, but that’s mostly because others have control. Interesting new society but we didn’t see enough and it felt too oriental. But still, kept me reading. Interesting new magic ideas. I’m not sure I understand anyone’s behaviour in the last chapters. Seemed a bit contrived, for plot.
I really enjoyed the book, right until I didn't. When your entire storyline touts the mental capabilities and savvy of the main character then incredibly stupid unforced blunders happen to veer the storyline off in a new direction... It's to jarring for me to follow and maintain interest. I downloaded the next book but I'm very disappointed right now.
For someone so smart Pol makes soo many mistakes and I felt like Pol didn't use some of his regular abilities just to prolong the story which is stupid. He falls for traps easily avoided by using his power.
I was enjoying this series of books until I read the end of this one, so it’s just another series I won’t finish. I had high hopes, but when the magical prodigy is so easily defeated, I was more than disappointed! What a waste! Thanks for nothing.
Pol becomes involved in new adventures. Peril, attacks, battle, heartbreak, intrigue, politics, and kidnapping ensue. I like the action, humor, adventure, intrigue and romance. I look forward to the next book.
I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to see what happens next. This book does keep you interested and it keeps you reading. I will be rereading the other books in this series.
