This is a terrific little hardcover edition measuring approx 30cm square. It contains most of Monet’s artwork and the essential information about Claude Monet’s life. It is a multi language book with each page being written in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Dutch.
I would have given five stars if there was more written information about Monet and if it was all in English. It made for a slightly disruptive reading experience when you had to read a column and then flick through the book to find where the next column in English starts. For a beginner, with little knowledge about the artist it was worth reading and I would certainly read others in this book series.
It is a nice coffee table sized book introducing you into Monet's work and life for a budget price. However therefor this book is also not of the best in its sort, some mistakes in typing, font as well in language/translation can be found through out the book. The images are of a poorer quality, yet still good enough to get a good and enjoyable impression of the paintings, yet it is worth the buy for starters, those who want to just want to get introduced. However I must admit that books by Tashen, mostly in the same price rate, are of a much better quality in print and overall production, thus I suggest the books made and published by Tashen above these editions.
I liked a lot this collection of images of the French Impressionist Claude Monet, accompanied by biographical stories in 6 languages: Spanish, English, Italian, German, French and Dutch.
Monet took classes at the Swiss painter Charles Gleyre where he met Auguste Renoir. Much of his work was done outdoors, which implies a greater degree of difficulty due to additional factors to those that exist inside a studio: air gusts, sudden rain, variations in the sunlight, etc.
Chronologically, it shows the most representative works of the painter while giving a brief history of the origin of Impressionism.
288 pages published by the German publisher Könemann.
I liked this one very much! I think it's a good collection to get introduced into art with the painting along with a little biography along it. Wanna check the whole collection
