Team South-One Bear shifter Cade Ayers has been tasked with the mission of bringing a rogue fox shifter in for questioning, something that should be relatively easy, since all intel points to the shifter being only a boy. He already feels bad for the kid, but it isn’t his job to pass judgment. That would happen back home, in the shifter town of Heartsridge. Finding himself on the business end of a rifle certainly makes things a little more interesting. It isn't every day a woman takes his breath away and waves a gun at him. This little, curvy spitfire is armed, spooked, and stubborn as hell. Lucky for him, she might also be his fated mate.
All fox shifter Mina Foxglove wants is to be left alone to work her farm and survive every day as it comes. Actually, that’s a lie and she knows it. What she really craves is to follow her dreams and have a life beyond waking up at the ass crack of dawn to work her fingers to the bone. But life isn’t fair and dreams are just that, right? When a group of men arrive looking for her brother, her first instinct is to fight. Then she lays eyes on him. A bear shifter with a body built for sin and a warmth in his eyes that has her questioning everything she’s ever been told. That inter-species relationships are wrong. That the shifter town of Heartsridge is a bad place.
That a man like Cade Ayers couldn’t possibly be her fated mate.
But, sweet thunder clouds, everything inside her screams that he is. Worse, judging from the heated interest in his eyes, he's dangerously close to figuring it out. A wink and grin, and she knows she's screwed. He’s not going to let her go without a full investigation … of the up close and personal kind.

Heartsridge Shifters It’s a new world. Shifters are no longer a secret and they’re ready to fight for their right to live free.
Everything is different.
Six years ago, the Registration Act forced shifters out into the open and the world changed. Towns were created to provide a safe haven for those shifters who chose to follow the law, and those who didn’t were declared rogue.
Heartsridge is one of the few shifter towns in existence, guarded and protected by special teams of bears and wolves. Their job: to protect the right for shifters to live and love, and for the space to run free as nature intended. Because not all humans found the truth easy to accept—that they’re no longer the dominant species. Tourism keeps the town thriving, humans able to visit and stay for a week, but then they have to leave.
It’s the law.
**This full length novel contains naughty language, fully realized love scenes, and big, burly bear shifters who only have eyes for their fated mates.**

Mina follows her brother Liam to Heartsridge to witness his punishment as well as protecting him from his punishment. Heartsridge Shifters: Cade by Olivia Arran Actual rating: 3.5 stars
Heartsridge Shifters: Cade is book 2 the Heartsridge Shifters series, following the South-one security team which guards the shifter community of Heartsridge. All of the South-one security team are bear shifters, including our hero, Cade.
Since this book is technically a sequel to Austin, it somewhat continues the storyline of a fox shifter (Liam) who bit a human without their consent. I will say that the author does a fairly good job of explaining this, though, so I do think you could read this book without having read book one.
Cade does a good job of making characters likeable, especially the fox shifter, Liam. Mina, our heroine, is the sister to Liam. I really thought I'd dislike Liam (and by proxy, Mina) because of that, but the author does a good job of making both characters likeable and sympathetic.
One thing I found frustrating about this book was Mina's closed-mindedness, which led to her pushing away Cade, the hero of the story. Since she and Cade are supposedly "true mates," it didn't make sense to me that she would push him away for so long simply because she is a fox shifter and he is a bear shifter. If the "true mate," bond is so special, one would expect her to get over it a little bit faster than she does. Similar to book 1, this felt like manufacturing drama for the sake of drama.
There is also some weirdness with Mina's sort-of ex, Morris. Even though she doesn't love him and never really did, he wants her back since there are I guess no other female fox shifters. Rather than try to "woo" her, though, he just kidnaps her. Again, I was just a little burnt out on all of the drama supposedly keeping Mina and Cade apart.
The mayor, Carter, is pretty intriguing, though. I'm REALLY hoping there will be some kind of a spin off telling his story, because I'm crazy curious about him.
We continue the search for the fox shifter who bit and turned Leona’s sister Harper. It’s known where he lives, but there are unusual circumstances surrounding the incident that changed one human’s life forever. Cade is part of the team sent to the farm outside of town to bring in the young fox shifter, for despite his age there still are repercussions for his actions. Through the bantering and wise-cracking comments of his team Cade was trying to process vital information – this beautiful fox spitfire who was holding a rifle on them was his mate, now what the heck did he do.
Mina would do anything to protect her brother, to prevent these idiots from taking him into town where who knows what could happen to him. She didn’t expect the scent of one man or bear to affect her so much… and there was no way this bear could be her mate. Species shouldn’t intermix, it was the doctrine laid down by her father and his cronies, it was wrong, unnatural. Then why did she find herself leaning in for a better sniff, and why did the same knowledge in his eyes make her heart beat so wildly.
Heartsridge Shifters: Cade gives us a better understanding of the dynamics of the shifter town and the South-One team. There are so many twists and turns to exploring this new world that I find I don’t really want to chance giving any of those plot lines away, even by accident. So, I’m simply going to say that this story is fast paced, intriguing, with enemies to learn about, team members to start revealing their true personalities and a delightful, sexy strong romance between Cade and Mina. Oh, and one firecracker of a Granny. *grin*
I enjoyed this story very much. It definitely gave me a better feel for the setting and the people who populate this world. I’m finding this series fascinating and would definitely recommend this story and the entire series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader who loves a good story, plot lines that hide as much as they reveal, danger, mystery and completely sexy moments. I had fun with this one, and I believe you would, too.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Olivia's Heartsridge Shifters series gets better with each new story. Cade is part of the Alpha One Bear Team that patrols and protects the shifter community of Heartsridge. Heartsridge is a community created for shifters that decided to join together and create their own community after they registered with the government when shifters were outed to the humans. Heartsridge is ran by, governed by and protected by all types of shifters...bears, wolves, big felines, dragons and many other types that are living together and working to build a strong community for all types of shifters living in Heartsridge. Cade is an enforcer. He along with enforcers from other teams had to hunt down a rogue shifter (an unregistered shifter) the bit and turned Harper, a human into a Fox shifter against her will. The punishment for such a crime is usually swift and sever. Once the rogue is located it turns out that he is just a 14 year old boy that got scared and thought Harper intended to hurt him. Liam, his sister Mina and their Granny live on a farm outside our Heartsridge and chose not to register because they didn't want to lane their farm that had been in their family for generations. There are so many different things going on throughout this book that the reader will feel like they've read several books by the times they are done. There's something for everyone, rogues, purist, prejudice, hate, anger, heartache, forgiveness, love, passion and secrets revealed. Oh and some of the hottest make out and sex scenes you'll ever read. Wow...every woman deserves a Cade in their lives. Olivia's ability to continue to grow this series and add in surprise after surprise is wonderful. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next. I received an ARC from the author. This is my voluntary honest review.
A thrilling romantic tale that hooks you from the start with the thrilling plot, family love, camaraderie, suspense, spine-chilling action, humor, hot-blooded sensuous romance and a most deserved happy ever after when all the obstacles are conquered.
Cade Ayers bear-shifter never thought he would meet his fated mate on a mission for his Alpha, but he did and Mina Foxglove is it for him. Mina is a fox-shifter, with curves and sass, was brought up to believe that mixing shifter blood is taboo. Her brother gets himself in trouble with the Heartsridge Shifters and she is catapulted into a whole new world. Cade's desire for Mina is steadfast but she keeps pushing him away. Danger lurks in the shadows and it is coming after Mina.
Fast-paced captivating well-written story by a gifted author. The cast of characters come alive with engaging dialogue and powerful vivid scene descriptions. I loved the family atmosphere in this shifter town. I so enjoyed Cade’s plan that captured the heart of Mina. Mina’s and Cade’s relationship is definitely convincing and is filled with wild fiery passion. If you treasure shifter romance this is definitely a fabulous book for your library. I found this to be a fantastic read so {I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy.} Without reservations, I recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Mina and Cade’s story had me sucked in almost from the very beginning. The characters were likeable; the good ones anyways, and as for the bad guys, you just wanted to kick them where it hurt. I did like that not all was as it seemed in the town. While I had a little trouble keeping all the Alphas lined up, initially, it really didn’t matter because I think that the bears are going to be my favorite so far if the author decides to expand the series to include some of the other Alphas. The alone time with Cade and Mina was really sexy and I loved how he made it all about her without being pushy or overbearing. He waited for her until she was ready and sure of them as a mated pair. I felt so bad for Liam initially until it seemed like, it was all part of his plan to meet people and get freedom—minus his mishap with Harper. Liam is a sweet kid that I hope that we eventually get a story for several years down the line within that story’s time frame. I loved Julie and Talbot also! And I think that Granny still has some groove left in her! I am planning to look into this series more!
Ms. Arran does it again another heart felt feel good story. In this one Cade a bear shifter from the South one team is tasked with bringing in the fox shifter that bit Harley, his alpha's sister in law. He never expected to discover his mate as the sister of the young fox shifter who bit Harley. Mina has a gun to his head and swears she will shoot at one wrong move. She has been raised as a purist that species should not mix, so she fights her fox's demands that she submit.
I just love how Ms. Arran has created a town for shifters of all species and that they more or less form one big happy family being caring and supportive of one another.
If you love strong alphas with hearts of gold then you will enjoy this adventure into love. I voluntarily read an advance copy.
Book two in this series did not disappoint, great action, adventure, mystery and romance... As well as sexy bears! I love a book where you can really connect and like the characters... No shouting at my kindle 'no don't be stupid' which happens too often. Great characters and a great plot... No character forgiveness required. I received an ARC copy and have left and honest and independent review.
Kindle unlimited standalone shifter read in series. When she's brought to the town because of what her brother has done she fights her attraction to a man she can't have. Can he make her see that just because he's a different animal they can be together? Can she get over what she was told from birth... that animals don't mix? Good solid story!!
Between Harper having been bitten, finding the fox who did it and rendering punishment, rogues infiltrating and spying in Heartsridge, purist sentiments are keeping Cade and Mina apart. She was raised a purist, foxes only mate with foxes, but Cade is making that very difficult to stick to. And he plans on keeping close and showing her his intentions. But her father promised her to Morris as a child, and Morris just escaped.
Loved it and left me wanting a bear shifter my oen.
Why can't men be like that? Cade found himself faced with a woman holding a shotgun. Mina would not let them take her baby brother but he promised not to let anyone hurt him. Their whole family had to go into town and be registeted. mins is kidnapped by a band of purists and not Care and Mona have attitudes and Vinci ruins to conquer. Much romance to kiss your heart and stoke a fire. Go for it.
He meets a girl by being at the end of a nice surprise and this girl so happens to be his mate. But she refuses because she was raised under the impression that it's wrong to mix the species. Thus this complicates his chances at trying to woo her. I very much enjoyed the personality and some of the smart-ass remarks. Makes the read a true joy, beautiful writing style.
Exciting and sweet but over 18 romance. There is trouble in Heartsridge. There are Rogues and Purists and they want to bring down the shifter town. Amidst all of that Cade has found his True mate, Mina who is a fox shifter that believes fox shifters and bear shifters should not mate. Very good read. Bought rest of series to read.
Great book 2 of the heartstrings shifters. A Fox shifter brought up to be only together foxes meets her after mate.... A hear shifter. Read about their ups and downs as they navigate their relationship. Can't wait for the rest of the series....
Very well written and characters are awesome. You will enjoy this story and series. Nina a Fox shifter and Cafe are true mates. This is a wonderful story over learning the wrong with were taught growing up.
Action packed with rogues crashing into town and spy on things. A kidnapping and a purist fanatic threatening to claim what he believes as his. Through all of this Cade and Mina struggle with their feelings for each other and their past.
I was entertained with this story, though I thought it moved a bit slower than the previous book. Has some memorable characters in it. Another good shifter story.
You did it again and I liked every page and didn’t put it down till I finished reading it. I liked the way you turned your words into a very interesting story!
