Personal Response
In my own opinion, Texas Fridays, Odessa is a good book. I can’t relate to it because it involves drugs, and I don’t do drugs. It's a good book that shows how hard it could be to find a person that is missing and are in disguise. The main character realizes that in order to do some things, you have to take a chance or take a risk.

Plot Summary
Pete Hamilton was a private investigator. Pete was given a story to investigate. That story was about Winona Daughtry, a girl that was kidnapped. When Winona's parents told Pete what had happened, he knew he had to start to find her right away. Pete, after going through a lot of people, found out that Winona had a boyfriend, in which he had got her pregnant and they had an abortion. Pete got with one of his drug dealer friends and found a house where Winona could be. When he got there, there were two girls that he saw (which neither of them were Winona) and two guys, one of which he recognized. He talked to them but later killed them and saw that Winona was knocked out in a different room. He returned Winona to her family and he did the same with the other girls. Winona’s family were so happy to have her finally back in their arms. As for Pete, he went back out on the streets to find The Moon and he later did.

Recommendation
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good easy book. It is a good book for people who like mysteries with a little bit of football. I think the audience is pushed towards boys age 8-18 because it is a good book showing what a man can do when he is on drugs and how using women in a bad way can and will have consequences. It's an easy book that is very good and I would suggest it to a lot of people with a similar mindset as me.

Personal Response
I think this was a very good book. It dealt with real-life situations like problem solving and murder. The main character was on a good path and then got tied up with the wrong group of people. It really surprised me on how much the main character changed throughout the book.

Plot Summary
In Odessa It was about a girl who disappeared and the town is searching for her. She was dating the best football player in their town. They got a detective to try and figure out where she went. When the detective investigated more he figured out that she was pregnant and had an abortion before she disappeared. At the end of the book, they never ended up finding her and the book ends in a cliffhanger.

Characterization
In the beginning of the book, Pete seemed like it was just another day at work. He then started to figure out how popular Winona was and how it affected so many people. He tried his absolute hardest to help her family and friends but never ended up finding her.

Recommendation
I would recommend this book to anyone between the age of ten to twenty. This book reminds me of a CSI movie. I am definitely going to read more books by this author in the future.

Name: Quinn Dittmann

Book Title: Odessa

Personal response: I really loved this high school football book. There was a lot of action in this book. The book wasn't just about football, it was also about the football players’ home life. Personally, this was a great book, and I would love to read more of the same series.

Plot Summary: This book was mainly about a girl who had run away, her name was Winona. She was the ex-girlfriend to the best football player in Odessa, Les Meyers. They broke up a few weeks before she vanished, and Les had no idea about any of this. Pete went to Winona’s and found her diary. In her diary was the sketch of a large man with long hair, he was known as ( The Moon ). Pete did some more investigating which soon led him to find out Winona was pregnant and she had an abortion. He talked to some kids at the high school to find out some things about Winona or The Moon. He soon got word of a house party that would be hosted right after the Friday night football game. After he arrived at the party, he did some investigation. He saw Les and some other players go down into the basement. They were all smoking weed. Pete then confronted Les and then down the stairs came The Moon. Pete shot him and then fled the scene. His investigation for Winona continues.

Recommendation: I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes an investigation. There was a lot of action in this book. Also would recommend this book to anyone who likes football and high school parties. This book would be for almost anybody!

Personal Response:
I didn't like this book very much because its wasn't about football. It just wasn't fun to read like the other books in this series. It had part where it talked about football.

Plot Summary:
The book starts off with a detective talking to a football coach. The detectives name is peet. He wants to talk to the star football player of Odessa, Les Myers. The coach tells him to get lost. Peet then went to the private football practice. He left because the coach wanted him to leave. He then went to one of his police academy friends, Jerry. He asks him about a missing girl. Peet had found pictures of a masked person in Wilmas diary. Jerry recognized him, but didn't say anything to peet. All he said is that a drug dealer by the name of the Moon is somehow involved. Peet then goes to an abortion center because Wilma was pregnant. When he gets there, the lady tells him that she had checked in there with a man named "Jonny-Five". Peet thought that the Moon and this Jonny Five must be the same person. He interviews Wilmas best friend about it and she tells peet that Wilma had been at a lot of parties with the Moon and Les Myers. Peet then asked for the location of the next party, but the location wasn't revealed until an hour before the game. Peet goes to the game and calls Jerry to meet him there. Then, peet sees the Moon and chases him, but he quickly escapes. Peet goes to the party with two guns and a throwing knife then. He follows Les downstairs to a secret spot in the house and sees the Moon there. Peet shoots the Moon in the head but then Jerry shows up. Jerry ended up working for the Moon and tries to kill Peet. He makes peet throw the gun over the coach. He then throws his knife into his chest and Jerry dies. The book ends with Peet on his couch thinking about prison.

Characterization:
Peet turns from a good detective, to a murderer. He kills 4 people in the book. 3 of which were not necessary. He didn't feel bad about the murders either.

Recomenation:
I recommend this book to high schoolers who like mystery and government books. This book wasn't about football so I wouldn't recommend this book to people who like football.

Texas Fridays Odessa by Sam Moussavi is a mystery about Winona Daughtry’s disappearance. Pete Hamilton is the detective trying to find where she went. During the story, Pete eventually discovers that Winona is with a mysterious character known as “The Moon”. He then goes on a hunt to find the two.
You should definitely give Texas Fridays Odessa a read. I personally like it because it goes into depth of Pete’s thoughts. For example, when Pete is thinking about where Winona could be, the text shows every step of his thought process and proves how smart Pete really is. The story can definitely be relatable for certain people. Winona had pressure all around her and fell into it even though she didn’t want to.

Odessa by Sam Moussavi in my opinion was a very average book. By looking at the book I thought this would be more about football which is why I decided to get it. There ended up being very little football in it and more was like a detective/CSI case which i still enjoy. The main character had a really entertaining development throughout the story by getting tied up with the wrong people. This book was about a girl who dated the best football player in town and disappeared one day. The parents got a detective (the main character) to find her and he ended up finding a lot out. I recommend Odessa to people who like sports and detective cases.

YA, Fiction. Texas high school sports meets Miami Vice. More of a kidnapping mystery than a sports book. High school football and mystery overlap as private detective Pete Hamilton is called upon to investigate the disappearance of a student at Permian High School. Their is a little football action towards the end, but this is more of a crime/thriller.

I Liked this book a lot, but there were some parts where I just got completely lost in it and I had no Idea what as going on. For example, in the 5th chapter is where I started to get lost. But after a few chapters after that I started to catch back on, but then I got lost again in the last chapter and got lost in the end and ended the book having no idea what happens
