With brilliant characters and an attention to detail that paints wonderful pictures in the minds eye. It's funny, exciting and extremely clever . I was not able to put this book down, I was constantly eager to see what was coming next. It's a brilliantly written book that left me feeling like I'd been on an adventure."
"I kept wondering how anyone could possibly have thought of this and then woven the story to such an extent that you actually believed that lots of this was fact and not a story at all! The ending was phenomenal and showed a more than fertile imagination. I laughed out loud! The books were read first by my husband who muttered every so often 'This guy is amazing. His writing is so clear, and his imagination is(literally) out of this world.' "
" A brilliant concept - science put across in an easily understandable way and a thrilling read. Packed with thrills, spills (literally!), adventure, history, romance, thought provoking scientific possibilities of time travel and epidemiology. This book crosses so many genres yet contains plenty of fun and humour. A must buy. "

Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.
The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help but get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what would they do in that situation?
His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?
Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting voyage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that the lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.
Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it. He also invites you to email him and let him know if you did or did not enjoy the novel. And if you did, what were your favourite parts?
Gripping, Enthralling, Imaginative & Hard to Put Down!
A rip-roaring, page-turning thriller!

The first few chapters weren't captivating. Personally, it has to do with the flow or arrangement of the story. One chapter, we re talking about the present-past, in the next chapter, it's a very lengthy, multiple chapters, past-past before it caught up to present-past.
There were also a very confusing switching between first-person, third-person limited, and third-person god. The sub-sections barely worked because of it.
However, I'm giving 4 out of 5 because of the story itself. The plot. The repercussions considered of what happened which is not tackled in any other similar story in this genre, or rarely touched. It is refreshing and it stays within the realms of possibility and reality as much as possible.
After reading the the 1st of the 2books I was hooked and got the 2nd part of the story. The plot was unique and well written if a little confusing at times (time travel and Si Fi are not my normal interests) I found my self intrigued into how the pirates would cope in the modern world and what happened to Kate! The outcome of the book was great although I wish at some point later in the book we had heard from Kate’s point of view rather than forgetting about her till the very end. Overall this was a really good read and one I would talk about and mention to people.
The story is well told and flows well between the story lines. The drawbacks to the novel are the use of some chiefly British verb conjugations and an excessive use of commas. As a rule, the word "and" is used to join together two parts of a sentence and should be limited to one per sentence. If the writer feels like a comma is needed before an "and," replace the comma and the "and" with a semicolon. Additionally, all punctuation marks go to the left or inside even in cases where it is the last word that has the quotation marks.
This book was actually Book Two of this story but it wasn't listed anywhere for me to review it.
I had not read Book One, but got this free and thought it sounded good. The back story would have been nice, but it didn't detract from this plot.
I thought the premise of the book was a fun one, having a pirate ship from the year 1699 land at a resort in Puerto Rico in the year 2014. The fun soon stops when the pirates are found to have the plague from the 1600's which in todays world are thought to be fatal.
I would give this book four and 1/2 stars for part one. First, I have read several of this author's books which I have enjoyed very much. Time Travel also appeals to me. In this story, the past meets the future due to a super hurricane keeping the reader engaged and avidly devouring the pages to the end which, surprise, get book 2 to find out what happens next! I have already down loaded the next book!
I would have liked it more if it didn't start off so slow, because the idea behind the story is truly creative. It was enough to keep me curious and so I will even read book two. But I actually have been skipping large sections that are bogged down with too many irrelevant details which add to the length but not the plot of character development.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys time travel historical romance. I did have trouble downloading the 2nd book in series. I find going directly through Amazon tends to cause this technically illiterate person more trouble than going through my Kindle store.
A fantastic weather event never seen before. Tracked by scientists and The government alike, the anticipated but unexpected happens. The present and past collide with astounding results in this engaging time travel tale. The wonder and fear show by the pirates who came ashore in 2014 made me laugh out loud.
Great concept of time travel. Enjoyed the story line and I knew going in this book only took me so far. Pirates in 2014 can you imagine! Then think just what they may be bringing back it just might make you I'll,very I'll. Then what about all the going on with experiments and the lost plane in the recent storm. So much going on but a good read.
Trying to read this. I'm not very far in, but this book is in such need of an editor that I'm not sure I can keep going. Every use of an exclamation point makes me cringe.
But, now I've finished. It still needs an editor (to, at the very least, delete all those exclamation points and fix some sentence structure), but it's actually a good story. I think I'll even read book 2.
4 stars for the story idea; 2.5 stars for the manuscript.
Did a great job in keeping my interest. It’s got pirates, time travel and one humungous storm that will lead to an adventure. Great read! Looking forward to Book 2.
Was disappointed when the story only around the events of time travel past into present. To be honest, I skim read most of the middle portion of book with inflated details of pirate activity. Just wasnt for me.
Time travel, pirates, secret government projects, and romance! This book mixes these genres and somehow makes them work well together. The story moves along at a brisk pace and compelled me to, “Read on there lad” (Just a hint of pirate-speak). Highly recommended.
Pirates get caught in a bad storm and go thru a time warp and land in present day puerto rico. Poor guys have to future out modernlites and foos and toilets... they also bring the Black Plague with them
I'm loving this new (to me) author! This book is an amazing adventure that reminds me of treasure island or Swiss family Robinson with science mixed in.
ICPI. has. penned a time travel novel that shows time travel from a different view when comparing it to others. Fiur colossal hurricanes merge and form an electric barrier and a ship from the past is sent forward and a plane from the present is sent into the past. There is conflict and confusion on both sides of the equation but the author chose to have an electrical occurrence and it changed everyones thought process. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
There's not much in the way of romance....yet. However, the scientific, and historical, aspects of this story make for an excellent and new take on interdimentionalism. As one who is familiar with the Rainbow Project and other experiments, I found this story very refreshing and entertaining. It also helps that my grandfather was one of the original Hurricane Hunters, so anything to do with them is a plus.
A different take on the same plot while sticking as close as possible to reality and possibility. Taking on factors usually ignored in other stories of the same device.
