‘Chirp ditty chirp, we love to be free’

California author Remi Nicole is a communications executive with degrees in journalism and English. Her passion is writing children’s books that celebrate animals and fascination with adventures allowing her readers to explore new countries. Her current series concerns Peck, a Lovebird, who travels the world in search for a mate. Remi’s stories are beautifully illustrated by Mabel Chong. Remi lives in Los Angeles.

Peck is a little lovebird who will go anywhere to find his mate. In this delightful book Peck plays and sings with his friends in his native Australia and he notes all of his friends – Harry Koala, Charlie Cheetah and Walter Wallaby – have love partners and Peck sets out to find his. He gets a ride in the pouch of Kimmy Kangaroo, seeks companionship with bumble bees who advise him against his joining them, arrives in the city where he thinks he will find love but is met by a koala who advises him to look beyond the city – to the sea. Peck convinces Peter Pigeon to fly him to an airplane for his journey and once aboard the plane (in the cargo section, in a box of straw), Peck looks out the window at the sky above and is on his way to far off lands to find his mate.

This is a delightful little book that children will love – and it carries a fine message about caring, friendships, and love. Highly recommended.
