[Episode 4 of 4] In a world dominated by a secretive cabal manipulating humanity to their own genocidal ends, a tiny resistance group emerges.
Each member of the resistance will fight back to the best of his or her ability.
Some will find they've more power and knowledge than they'd ever dreamed.
Some must determine how best to live a life scarred by a past full of lies, deceit, and impulsive decisions that have harmed millions.
Some will fight far away from the only home they've ever known.
Some will fight with knowledge and cunning over brute force and explosive violence.
And all of them will find, in their own way, that in a world where death has become the norm, retaliating against the powers that be can be the biggest -- and last -- mistake of your life.
I am a lifelong Ohio resident, where I live with my wife and three children. When I'm not trying to be in three places at once with my active youngsters, I'm following local professional and collegiate sports teams, or possibly unscrambling a Rubik's Cube. In lieu of sleep, I read and write fiction.
My debut novel, A QUESTION OF WILL, explores themes of technological advancement, human potential (good and bad), and the love bonding a family together. It reached the Amazon Top 100 in Science Fiction -> High Tech less than a week after publication. The sequels--PRESERVING HOPE, ASCENT OF THE ALIOMENTI, and BIRTH OF THE ALLIANCE--continue to follow Will's adventures, bringing to life the technological and Energy advances he's achieved in entirely new settings.
I am currently drafting the fifth of seven novels in the series.
Alex created a whole new world for me with the Aliomenti series. I fell in love and recommended it to so many. So, I was super excited to know it continued with The Ravagers. This has been an action packed series so far and I look forward sadly for the next and final book. Sad it will be over but always excited to read more.
So this series was essentially free, and for free books, they were pretty good. Good story, good suspense, interesting characters. The pace felt very rushed, though. Very little/no world building or back story. Very confusing chronology. Characters' behaviour and motivations were also super confusing. And way too much suspension of disbelief required. Much more so than is usual for sci fi. The inventions and powers that people have are ridiculous and inconsistent. And my biggest pet peeve: every problem is solved with a deus ex machina. Like, really? People suddenly realize that they have magical powers that are right for the situation when they are needed? Annoying. I do not feel the need to finish the series. Everything is going to work out somehow through some implausible means, I am sure.
I love how the writing develops from the first book to this book and will be the best in the final one. The story grabs you and keeps you intrigued with interactions and cliffhangers in the last few chapters.
There’s only one more book left and I will be getting it pretty soon.
There were a few moments were I had to speed read to find out as soon as possible what was going to happen to the characters. I can't wait for the next one and to see if juatice gets served and how the story finally ends!
As usual with "the Ravagers" series, this is a gripping book which gets more amazing as it carries on. I have read the series right through and can't wait to see what twists and turns will happen before the conclusion.
Page turning writing. I love the Aliomenti series even with the redundancies. Alex has given me an escape into a world filled with love, hate, and excitement that twists and turns through throughout. Cliffhangers at the end of each chapter make it tough take a break.
I enjoy the books very much but get distracted by the fact that the sentences seem to have only been checked by spell check rather than a human. Occasionally the wrong name is used for a character. In general though, a good series
