I highly recommend this book to everyone- not just YA. If you are leaving the New Age Movement I recommend this book especially to you. I’ve been going through this every month for the past year now and God is constantly bringing something new to the surface.

It’s true that the great deceiver and liar is continuously controlling people especially the youth who are so fascinated with the paranormal. They think their games and books are harmless but unknowingly they are already under the power of evil. I’ve seen some play evil games, going on ghost hunts, etc. A lot have already been the slaves of evil. This book tells you how you can get free from evil. But in my opinion, some people really need help from other people to get free esp those who are already far from God, this is not enough. They must find someone stronger to fight in this battle.

Powerful and freeing!

This book gives step by step instructions for getting rid of our hurts, generational influences, deceptions, feelings of shame and any evil influences or control in our lives. It's really important the reader know their true identity as a beloved child of God. Read Victory Over Darkness and/or Bondage Breaker by Neil T. Anderson first, for this to have the most impact. You have power over evil by the authority of Jesus Christ.

While I have some insignificant theological differences with a few things that are taught in this book, I would recommend this book to any Christian that is looking to become a better Christ follower. Neil does a great job at laying out Christian basics and their importance as well as encouraging his readers to grow in their walk with Christ. For this reason, I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially new believers.

This book is not helpful for someone who is struggling. It promises an easy simple way into freedom ( say these prayers and confess these sins). I believe we are to walk in a life of prayer but I don’t think formal prayers are the way to go. Also this book treats those who have gone through trauma very lightly. This book should be avoided by all ministries.

Excellent book getting to the heart of the basics of christianity. I think every christian should read this at different points in their walk with the Lord. If you take the time to really think about the questions being presented then it will make you dig deep. I especially enjoyed the section on lies that we have chosen to believe as truth inadvertently.

Very hard to rate book, because it’s a guidebook. It’s a pastoral guidebook that I wouldn’t recommend most people go through start to finish, and it would probably need to be tweaked on specific cases, but it could be useful in the pastoral toolbox for Christian counseling and discipleship.

This book has changed my life. I knew God was a part of my life but to know that he wants to be involved with me was a turning point in my relationship. This book truly helps you find freedom and release from bondage that you didn't even know you had.

Worth rereading and repeating the strong truths daily. Good that NIV 1984 was used.

I have read this book at least ten times since last April. It is a short read. I continue to find it personally uplifting when I walk myself or someone else through the steps. The opportunity this Biblically grounded material offers is an environment and atmosphere designed for someone to safely and encouragingly go through the process of acknowledgment, confessing and repenting of sins that separate believers from God. The freedom I have experienced in my relationship with God and His church through this simple yet time consuming and at times difficult process is more than I can express.
My only problem with this book is Dr. Anderson's thesis "Our sanctuary is our identity and position in Christ..." The Tabernacle was known as the Tent of Testimony. The furniture in the Tabernacle was symbolic of actions indicative of deepening our relationship with God. The Ark held items highlighting the relationship between God and Israel. Therefore, the Tabernacle and Temple Sanctuary was not about us but Gods relationship with us and us with Him. To define such a sanctuary as being our "identity and position in Christ" diminishes the focus of the scriptural sanctuary. I dare say, who we are is commonly put in place of the Ark. Such a "room" is reminiscent of the Israelites family idol room (cf. Judges 18). There's another word for something other than God as our focus and shelter (Psalm 46), idolatry. A distinct issue we see in Judges, Pharisaical (i.e. legalistic) practice in the Gospels, and our modern day. The syncretism of religious, spiritual and soulical in practice and thought blurs such distinctions as who we are and what we are (Psalm 118) by our relationship with God not defined by things or us but by His presence and our willingness to digress ourselves completely of self (Luke 9:23). (I highly recommend Watchman Nee's The Latent Power of the Soul as a tool to distinguish our soulful motives and wants to the spiritual motives and wants of God.)
The thoughts in the introduction confuse psychology with scriptural establishment. We are Gods Sanctuary on earth. What we choose to "decorate" it with will either drive God from the Sanctuary or deepen our relationship with Him. Suffice it to say, introduction aside, the steps offer a thorough approach to God in asking Him to show us where we have "missed the mark" with Him.
