My Journey Through Fibromyalgia: Rumors, Ravages & The Rescue

Rate this book
For twenty-five years, Nancy Alexander battled a mysterious illness without a diagnosis. Despite spells of total debilitation and hospitalizations with no answers, she managed to fight through and raise two sons and create a successful business. Like many marriages where chronic illness is at the forefront, Nancy's suffered. This is her story of fighting the medical system to receive a diagnosis and to not only save her marriage to Steve but restore it to a place of joy. Years of rumors from doctors and friends, the ravages on her body from disease, and the rescue in the form of a doctor and nutritionist all culminated into a place of wellness that Nancy now shares with her readers. Though she didn't always know it during her journey, God's hand guided and protected her and Steve. Nancy's story will uplift and encourage those with chronic illness that answers are worth fighting for, and God's strength is sufficient on even the worse days. Review by Jim Cockrum of My Silent Team: "I love to surround myself with people who challenge me. Those rare souls who endure and persist and eventually find a way to overcome impossible odds with determination and focus to ignite something unique and special inside us. You simply can't have too many people like that in your life. Prepare to add Nancy to your list of champions. This book is not "Nancy and Steve's story of tragedy and triumph". It's far more. it's a finely tuned weapon of spiritual warfare that our father has been sharpening ("on the anvil" to borrow a phrase from Lucado) for quite some time now - and it's about to do some serious damage in the spiritual realm." Review by Sue Mellette: "Nancy, I felt at times I was feeling your pain, bewilderment & your desperate need to find help. Your story is much more than fighting Fibromyalgia and learning to live with it. It is a love story of finding the love a husband and wife should have for each other. It is a love story that through your finding the Lord and knowing that He does not forsake us even in our darkest hours, He has a plan for you and your husband. Your story is open, brutally honest, and forthright. Yes, it brought me to tears at times and joy at others! It's a great story that could be brought to life on the big screen. It was so vivid and descriptive, I could actually see your struggles. A powerful story about a disease and your diligence in finding exactly what was wrong. You truly are special!" Review by Rita Gallow: "Nancy, Your book is wonderful! You and Steve should be commended for being so open and honest about your private lives. This book did make me cry and when finished, I wanted to give you a big hug. I am convinced this book will help countless people suffering with chronic illnesses & fibromyalgia. For me, the best part was that you and Steve invited Christ into your lives, making Him the center of your marriage. When finished, I had a big smile in my heart! May God bless you and Steve." Review by Hallie Sue Wells: "Nancy, I loved this book! I started out thinking it was going to be a book about Fibromyalgia but was so wrong. It is really a great love story, a mystery, a story of survival and most of all God's grace and strength given to one of his children. I felt so many emotions while engrossed in every page, from frustration, fear and hopelessness to anger and bitterness over things that should not have been then to relief, love and joy as the aftermath of such a devastating, debilitating disease finally started getting answers and healing. While reading I wondered how I would have handled or reacted to each situation and the devastating pain of body and mind. I really doubted that I could have survived. I am so glad that you survived and are now making a difference in so many lives. I'm also glad you have been brave enough to put your life on paper, sharing it with everyone. Your story proves with God, all things really are possible.

This title is spot on for sure. Right from the beginning of the book Nancy Alexander Comforts me by GOD's Word plus sharing the news that she has Celiac which complicates her getting better. She indeed has a ravaged life with Fibromyalgia, commonly known now as the "the great deceiver." Her marriage was also torn apart but not destroyed by Fibromyalgia and other illnesses she has. Infidelity is not uncommon in marriages with chronic illness. Her relationship with CHRIST, working hard to restore her marriage and the fruit of her labor in art is now she says "a beautiful tapestry pain stakingly woven over time. She wouldn't have traded it for anything." She has gone to a very successful conference for Jim Cockrum which helped her art business as she has Blessed others in art as well as sharing how she improved her health in the process. She has written seven Kindle books and half dozen instruction books which are sold on Amazon. Several include: Sourcing Power; No Secret Venders; Make Your Own Wreaths: For Any Occasion in Any Season
One website includes: LadybugWreaths.com

This is a must read book for those who want encouragement in their affliction and how agonizing Fibromyagia can be each and every day. (there is a chapter enclosed about Celiac).

INSPIRATIONAL - MIRACULOUS ENDING

The book, My Journey Through Fibromyalgia Rumors, Ravages & The Rescue is Nancy Alexander's puzzling journey with fibromyalgia over many years. During the 1980s, fibromyalgia was not clearly understood by health care professionals and society. As a result, doctors could not effectively help Nancy with her health concern. Several doctors concluded that fibromyalgia was psychological rather physical. Nancy is a woman of faith, perseverance and resolve. She strongly believed that this mysterious health concern could be treated. The long frustrating journey impacted her personal life, family life and social life. Though the journey was challenging, it was filled with discoveries - her artistic talents, her business abilities and her husband's betrayal. The missing puzzle pieces miraculously came together. Nancy discovered specialized health care professionals who could treat fibromyalgia. She and her husband worked together to strengthen their marriage. Professionally, Nancy Alexander developed an international business called Ladybug Wreaths. I'd highly recommend this inspirational story with a miraculous ending.

It’s like reading the story of my life

I know other women with the same chronic illness as Nancy has and that I have experienced for years. I am encouraged that there is ultimately a doctor out there that will help me...I just have to keep searching. Thank you Nancy and Steve for your honesty and straight forward story.
