Although Kean Koche and his bear-shifter brothers may have just recently escaped from jail, that doesn’t mean they’re free. Far from it, in fact. They can’t go home without being tossed back in prison, and their inner animals can’t cope with life in the human city. So when a tall, mysterious, no-nonsense blonde with thick-legs of pure heaven offers them a way to prove their worth, he can’t help but argue in favor of accepting. The fact that he’ll get to work next to the tantalizing human on a regular basis might have a little to do with it as well.
Madison Kerber’s focus is on the mission at hand. One of her agents is missing, and she needs help to get them back. That might just mean enlisting the aid of the Koche brothers, including the hunky, dreamily delicious Kean. She’s never heard of the brothers before, and her first impression of them left much to be desired. Still, she has to admit Kean has been working hard ever since to show her the true person within.
As they team up to rescue her agent, the pair find that they work well together, professionally and personally. Madison fights hard against it, but her focus keeps wandering from the mission to the easy-on-the-eyes and utterly protective bear shifter that won’t leave her side. As she begins to realize that this temporary partnership might be transforming into something permanent, Madison knows she’ll have to tell him everything. There’s a lot more at stake than just her agent’s life, and it’s about time Kean and his brothers knew the full truth behind the Institute and its designs on their species.
Amelia Jade loves to write the stories of tall, growly shifter men and the women who come to love them. Living out in the back-country near the mountains, she keeps her own alpha male close by, to keep the bears away and keep her warm. In her down time (which is rare), she loves to read science-fiction with a dash of fantasy. You can often find her curled up in front of the real wood-burning fireplace, her nose firmly buried in a book or her favorite ereader. The cold can't bother her there!

In Kean Koche’s story we will get a much better idea, eventually, of the nefarious plans the Institute is laying the groundwork for… and it’s nothing that Shifters or Humans should want to see happen.
Madison showed up near the ending of Pierce, a shadowy person leaving only a card with a phone number behind. It’s obvious she wants something from the Koche brothers, but what exactly is an unknown. Kean has made the decision to call that number and find out exactly what her role is.. it could be their ticket home, or it could be disastrous. Either way something has to happen soon as his older brothers are close to out of control, they won’t admit it but they do need a plan maybe this Madison has one they can use to their advantage. The last thing Kean expected was a sassy woman with major trust issues, or to begin to question if he had indeed finally found his mate.
Blackjack Bears: Kean is an intense story of bad boy bears accepting that maybe this woman who gives out little information about anything could be the answer to getting home without jail time awaiting them. If her “mission” is legit, then falling in with her plans makes sense. Kean is more about getting Maddy to trust him and see where this attraction between them leads. Madison is so tight lipped about anything, that even as a reader I wanted to beg her to actually “tell” me something, think something so I could get a handle on her. But she is slippery in keeping information tight to the vest.
I enjoyed this romance very much. Yeah, Maddy is keeping information back and Kean falls in love with every woman in sight – but they work together, their banter, their obvious attraction makes them a believable couple who happen to be falling for each other. And what I was waiting for from Pierce, and now Kean was that connection that would tell us where we’re going in this series. That reveal was probably not as unexpected as it might have been but it certainly makes perfect sense… from a madman’s perspective. I believe the remainder of this series is going to be as exciting, riveting and enjoyable as the previous ones for me. I’m also wondering about a few tidbits of information that were almost too casually dropped. I’ll leave that speculation up in the air for now. But this looks to be an adventure once again.
If you’re in the mood for a sexy couple, danger around every corner, banter, excitement and simply a very good story, then Blackjack Bears: Kean is a story that you should pick up. You don’t “have” to have read the earlier series – I would recommend them for they are amazing stories, but not totally necessary for this series. I would recommend this current story and series for any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader who enjoys an intriguing plot, secondary characters who will get their own stories told or already have been told, sexy moments and a likable main couple.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Five brothers help their women fight the Institute, a think tank turned by the new director into an entity to eventually do away with shifters. This part of the series finds Madison looking for help breaking one of her operatives out of a heavily guarded Institute property. The part of them climbing a tree so as to get an overview of the property had me laughing out loud! While the books are stand alone as to the couple's story, to keep the Institute story straight they should be read in order. Book one is Pierce (and Mila) and this is book two. Book three is Gavin. Both of these have been good reads and I look forward to Gavin's story.
I have read some of 's. Side's other series and enjoyed them as well.
This second book of the Koche Brothers escapades focuses on Kean. At first Kean doesn't seem the brightest of the bunch, but that impression is soon dispelled. Not only is Kean smart, he's dedicated and determined. When he meets mysterious, guarded, but beautiful Madison Kerber he's also smitten. She wants The Koches to help fight The Institute. The tests they put each other through to gain trust, including complete their mission, are fast, thrilling and dangerous. They continue the pursuit of the insidious Institute, and learn more of that entities diabolical plan for the future. Jean & Maddy make a great team and this book leaves you wanting more from them and the rest of the family.
This second book in the Koche brothers series features Kean. Amelia Jade once again shows her superb talent for weaving a fantastic shifter story. The Institute is bound and determined to end shifters, and Madison (a human) recruits the brothers to help rescue her colleague from the Institute's clutches. Madison and Kean connect on and off duty, but can anything come of their connection? I highly recommend reading to find out. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Madison has finally contacted the Koch brothers. She needs help and Kean volunteers to go to prove they are trustworthy. Not all goes smoothly but Maddy does trust Kean. The Institute is trying to change the shifter / human thing and not in a good way. I am excited to read the next book.
Kindle Unlimited standalone in shifter series. He sees her and can't stop thinking about her. When she returns and he finds himself helping her, he wonders how someone so frustrating can be so appealing!! Funny yet complicated relationship... good read.
This 2nd book in the series was as good as the 1st!! Kean & Maddy's story moved along quickly - with all the brothers and Mila in attendance - more action, romance and some fun sex. I think I will also enjoy the other 3 books I see coming in this series!!!
In book one we met the mysterious blonde Madison who tells our boys and Mila that if they want to know more about the Institute to call her. The slow build up of trust between Madison and Kean was well written with enough humour and snap to be believable. The snarky interaction between these two is wonderfully humorous. Madison is another capable and smart fighting heroine and is a great addition to this evolving group of miscreants. We find out more about the institutes' plot and I am curious as to how this will be resolved. The brothers are heading in different directions and we get a real feel for the cracks showing up between these five brothers. What is going on with Maximus and Kassian, are they so far gone they are unredeemable? What will happen with Gavin, the strong, quiet brother? This is my honest review of this book.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book*
BLACKJACK BEARS: KEAN
This is Kean and Madison's book, and a great addition to this series. In book two we find out more about the Institute's plans, and what it means to all shifters. It was a entertaining and exciting read, with lots of sarcasm and lots of humour. Kean is rough and tough but a really sweet guy. Madison is strong-willed but has a vulnerable side as well. The characters had great chemistry and were well suited. A really enjoyable read with a touch of spice.
This was a good addition to the series, and kept me entertained. Kean and Madison were both likable characters, and I really loved them as a couple. It was a fun experience following their adventure as they tried to find the agent, and had a good balance of romance and action. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I was gifted a copy.
The Koche brothers are getting restless. They were rescued from the Institute's prison, but will be arrested by their people if they return home to Cadia.
When Madison shows up and enters into the mix and everything really heats up...especially Kean!
This story is filled with action and adventure, twists, turns, and even some answers!
Trying to decide if I like Kean better than Pierce.
The story will give you a bear coming into his own and trying to stand on his two feet and do the right thing. Bucking the older brothers and being a follower is not come natural to Kean. Being more of a thinker than quick to action women kind of come and go falling in love is so easy but knowing if it's real love or not it's hard.
I received this book from the author and I have voluntarily read and reviewed it.
