James H. Miner's 1906 history of Richland County, Wisconsin, discusses the moundbuilders, Indians, early European explorers and settlers, politics and government, newspapers, Richland County residents in the Civil War, communications, railroads, topography and geology, and the medical and legal professions. Histories of the towns of Akan, Bloom, Buena Vista, Dayton, Eagle, Forest, Henrietta, Ithaca, Marshall, Orion, Richland, Richwood, Rockbridge, Sylvan, Westford, and Willow are included, as are biographical sketches of residents of the county.
Not quite as good as the 1884 History of Richland County, Wisconsin, but updates it to 1906. The first 11 chapters are very haphazard in their organization. They seem to skip around all over the place. The last 16 chapters cover each of the 16 townships and are fair except that each claim to be the best township in the county. Overall, a good reference volume.
