Outstanding!
In the Prologue to "The Antioch Effect: 8 Characteristics of Highly Effective Churches," Ken Hemphill asks the question, “Why do we need another book on church growth?” This question really hit home with me. I have read dozens of books on church growth in the past few years. I did an internet search for books on church growth and counted over 300 titles published in the last fifteen years. So, it is fair to say that the market is saturated with books on church growth. Hemphill’s question is very valid: “Why do we need another book on church growth?” Of course, Hemphill proceeds to answer his question for the remainder of the Prologue and for that matter the remainder of the book. His answers look back at the church of Antioch in the Book of Acts. The bottom line is, you may not need a clearer understanding of demographics, but a clearer understanding of God. God alone can grow His church. The Antioch Effect: 8 Characteristics of Highly Effective Churches might make you re-evaluate your ministry, and continually pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send more laborers.
