3 Not What I Thought Stars

A bit of a strange beginning, this author has a different writing style which by no means is a bad thing but it did take some getting used to.

Marla is a loner who has just been fired from her journalism job. She has no close friends and is not close to her family all these facts will be her downfall when she tells them to a stranger in a bar.

 photo guyatbar_zpsrsftdplo.gif

Marla is kidnapped and taken to a large old stately home, it is not clear at first what this place is so it's all a big mystery. What was really hard to understand and get my head around was the way Marla seemed enjoy being kidnapped and the abuse. I mean if I was in the same situation I am 100% sure I would not be getting tingly between my legs as I struggled to get free or if my kidnapper started whipping me.

Between my legs I feel an electric ache that can't be ignored. Struggling to get free is.... turning me on.

 photo straightjacket_zpsfihr8qeu.jpg

So this book was going super slow for me with it's over descriptive text but at about the 50% mark it does pick up a bit when the 'guests' visit the asylum for a show featuring the new girl. I was loosing faith in Marla as she slowly started to submit herself to Gabriel until he takes her on a walk outside, she shows everyone what a badass she can be.

 photo runningaway_zpswpsgu5ko.gif

I enjoyed all the parts of the book that had 'action' and I am not talking sex action either. I mean the fighting, running and fleeing action. The rest of the book could not hold my attention for more than 5 minutes at a time hence why it took so long to read. I try not to leave books unfinished its an OCD thing of mine. This was an odd read for me, I just could not connect to it a true case of its not you it's me.

When it comes to seeing a review/request for a dark romance you bet your ass I’ll be signing up for it!!

ERASED: We first meet Marla, an attractive female who's recently been fired from her job as a news reporter alone in a bar on the outskirts of town which caters to all sorts, from bikers to out of townies to students. This supposedly being her last night in town before she moves on.

Just as she’s on the verge of calling it a night she meets a guy that straight away sends a warning vibe coursing through her body but ignores it and figures why not have one more drink for the road.

Striding out of the bar and awaiting a taxi to arrive she’s taken, abducted, her pepper spray she had on the ready dropped and lost to her, a cloth of some sort thrown over her head lights out, the world ceases to exist.

Waking up and being jostled around like a sack of potatoes in a moving vehicle it’s some time before they arrive at their destination where she meets other undesirable characters one darker, more menacing than the next. But one man stands out above these vicious monsters and that's Gabriel the doctor.

Taken, bound, held prisoner in a padded cell, submitted to unthinkable sexual advances by her captors. many twists and turns that had me biting my nails, wanting, needing, to read faster to see what was going to come at me next.

He's always watching

You're here to obey

Her captors have awoken a dark yearning within herself, she's succumbing, craving his advances.

It took me a while to get into this, used to the author's writing style, as it seemed as though it was overworded, disjointed, and it took me a while to connect on all levels with the story. Thoughts that kept screaming through my mind as I was reading it were: For me to connect with her character I needed to feel that terror of being kidnapped, forced into a situation out of her hands, I expected more, more fight, more cussing, maim, strike out, bite, kick, we know she's capable of it from one scene but after that it seemed like she'd given up.

I was also hoping it would delve more into Iris, we're kind of left with alot of questions that were never fully answered.

BUT then the story like a switch turned around for me, because as soon as I reached about half way I really started getting into the book to the point where even though I was bone tired and sleep was calling me I couldn't put this down. I devoured the pages, chapter by chapter just to see how it all would end, is he friend or foe? Thoughts that kept racing through my mind like a broken record, can he be trusted?

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by this book! This is my first read from this author and I honestly didn't know what to expect. Having said that, I am very glad I agreed to review this book, because I totally enjoyed it!

what I liked
-The heroine, Marla, was a total badass. I LOVED her and her 'take no shit' attitude. She had these great one-liners that she used on her captors that were so hilarious, that I literally laughed out loud. After being discovered to have killed one of the captors, one of the other ones came into the room. Instead of begging for mercy, she looks at him and says something along the lines of 'you're next' to him. Totally amazing.
-As many of you know, I LOVE me some dark reads. This one was definitely dark and I loved every second of it.
-The author did a great job at describing the different settings that Marla found herself in. I could picture each and every room she was in with great clarity.
-I found myself rooting for Marla from the beginning. In a lot of these 'kidnapping romances', I find the heroines to be so annoying that I honestly would think to myself 'ugh, would they just kill this bitch already?' But that was NOT the case with Marla.

what I didn't like
-The hero, Gabriel. Didn't like him at all. He had no redeeming factors and I honestly wanted better for our kick-ass heroine. I felt like he was her weakness, and not in a good way.
-I felt that some of the book was a little too wordy for me. Some of the scenarios could have easily been described in a page, but instead stretched on for many.

That being said, I really did enjoy this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good kidnapping romance and especially to anyone who likes their books nice and dark !

3.75 "Burn it to the Ground" Stars

Finally we get an author who is no longer scared of giving us some of the Dark Side of things. This book starts out suspenseful with kidnapping/human trafficking and then evolves into a love story with Gabriel trying to save her through training her to be his slave. It does have what I would classify as dub con @ 1st. This story is to me a totally different take on human trafficking. I was pleased by the creativity.

I loved the inconsistencies of
character of Gabriel. The way his dark side was @ war with his morality was especially well written. I did feel the love between Marla & Gabriel. I do however think it flourished more because they were thrown together & only had each other to draw strength from. Our heroine was KickAss! I loved that she took all they had & gave them back more.

As far as the side characters, I would have liked to seen more interactions with the others and their "breaking", even in flashbacks. This story was really well thought out & could be taken to a series with follow on books for each of the characters. I would definitely be interested in their stories.

The reason for the deduction is I found a couple things left hanging that I really wish the author would have wrapped up. Things I just wanted more finalized than me left wondering about. Could be just me being a Hard Ass this week. This story does have a complete ending for now IMHO & does not end with a cliffhanger.

This ARC was graciously provided by the talented author to me with no requirements. I am honestly reviewing this story because I want to.

3.5 Stars, currently rounded up to 4 as 3 didn't feel quite enough but I reserve the right to change my mind and round down instead.

Whilst this was enjoyable enough it pulled its punches, particularly at the end. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the end as it had a clear resolution complete with a sense of retribution. However, I felt there was too much sanitising of Gabriel rather than allowing him to be a truly morally grey character. At times Marla questioned his true intent, and I questioned his integrity and backbone. I also struggled greatly with the very insta-love vibe of this. I get Marla having some Stockholm Syndrome-type feelings, I just didn't see any interactions that would convince me of genuine feelings on either side.

On the whole, Marla is one tough cookie, refusing to be cowed by these miserable excuses for men, picking her battles wisely and fighting back when she could. You do have to suspend your disbelief a handful of times, I wish the author had given Marla a backstory that explained her ability to take out the opposition! In her attempt to show how strong Marla was, we were never really allowed inside her head when she was struggling, frightened or down. Along with us not experiencing the worst of Marla's treatment first-hand I never truly got a fully dark vibe from the story.

All that said, I still enjoyed reading this. The scenes between Gabriel and Marla absolutely sizzle with chemistry and passion. Rather like Gabriel's plan that a little truth sprinkled into the lies makes a story believable, a little possibility sprinkled into the far-fetched produced a tale that was engaging, fast-paced and very readable.

Erased is my first read by Sansa. Erased is a difficult book to read, at least for me, because I am lost to the concept.

Storyline is kidnapped woman in an asylum. Phenomenal idea! Delivery....not so good. Marla seems to be enraptured from the very beginning. There isn't any buildup to her loving what's happening to her. Serious eye roll....

I struggled with Marla's role, attitude, and feelings from the beginning. She and the doctor are soooo obvious from the beginning, as a reader nothing surprised me. I think if there is more of a buildup in the beginning, Marla wouldn't seem so fake during her involuntary stay.

Please consider other reviews if you're on the fence regarding purchase. This story is not my cup of tea and should have no bearing on the author or your experience with the story. This review is based on MY opinion only.

Wow, what a super steamy and fucked up ride this was! Much like the heroine, Marla, I was asking myself, "What is wrong with you?!" But it was just SO HOT.

That being said, the heroine definitely gets put through the emotional ringer. This book is dark, but not too dark. It walks a fine line. Many books I find aren't quite dark enough or maybe the author is afraid of jumping off the dark side completely. That is not the case here. I felt Sansa planned everything out perfectly. It's absolutely all sorts of fucked up, but justice is being dolled out right and left, so it's well balanced in my opinion.

Marla, Marla, Marla. What can I say? Quite possibly my new favorite heroine. I LOVE a badass heroine who isn't afraid of getting her hands bloody. At first, I thought Marla must be an idiot, but again- well planned! She is force to be reckoned with and I loved it!

The only thing I found slightly lacking was the connection between the hero and heroine. Yes, they clearly felt something right away after meeting, but I never really found the opportunity for them to fall in love. They never have any privacy, so it makes sense. I would've loved more at the end to see how they adjusted after the fact. I can't wait to receive the bonus epilogue!

Erased was the first book I've read by Sansa Rayne. You never really know what to expect with a newer author but I enjoyed this one very much. Absolutely recommend if you enjoy dubious consent/bdsm. It's difficult at times, but the ending makes it all totally worth it.

*I received an ARC of Erased from the author and this is my honest review.

4 twinkling Stars!

Sansa Rayne is on a ladder and she's only climbing up.

-| “Beg me to stop.” |-

What do you do when you have plans to leave the state you live in, and you have no close friends, no one to care for you and the day before you leave YOU GET ABDUCTED?? Especially when you KNOW that not a single person will be coming to look for you? One will get scared, get intimidated by her captors, but not Marla. Fuck no, she was like steel. They tried to erase her will to survive and boy did they fail. At a point they do get to her but she knows they would never be able to break her.

-| “Ask me to stop ,” Gabriel growls into my ear.
“No,” I reply, possessing just enough resolve to get the word out.” |-

(This is a SPOILER FREE REVIEW!)

Dude, don't you frigging love it when you expect something typical from a story and then you read it but what happens next is….not at all typical?

-| “Keep fighting me if you want to suffer. By the time I’m done training you, your instinct to resist will be broken. Your urge to escape will be erased. You will be compliant and submissive. And you’re going to like it.” |-

We have Gabriel here as the Hero, and I loved him in some parts of the story, but I thought his character was a bit complicated. The author did this with purpose! He's in hell and wants an out and he finally gets the strength to do it when Marla steps into the game.

Oh, and he's an asshole sometimes!

-| “Normally I wouldn’t start with this, but I’m betting you’re tough enough.”
I can’t help scoffing. The cane is barely as wide as my pinky. It doesn’t look particularly intimidating.
Grinning despite myself, I say, “I’m a lot tougher than that.“ Now Gabriel smiles. “Oh, are you not impressed?”
“No, sir,” I reply truthfully, emboldened by Gabriel’s selection. “Don’t you have a bigger one?”
He laughs loudly, tapping the tip of the cane against my backside. “No, actually, I don’t. I don’t NEED a bigger one .”
The quick succession of taps ends with one hard smack.
An inferno of agony erupts like a volcano, a surge of warmth that punches the air from my lungs and sends my body twisting back and forth. “Hurt a lot more than you thought, didn’t it?” Sucking in my breath as tears drip down my face, I nod.
“Yes, sir.”
“Just a flick of the wrist. Surprised?”
“Uh huh.” |-

I loved the heroine Marla!!! Her comebacks were hella hilarious, wittiest and dangerous! She did what no one would dare to try in her situation. She kills one of her captors!! (No, this is not a spoiler, there are bigger things in this book. Trust me.)

And you know what her reaction is when they catch her after she pulls this stunt?

-| “How did this happen? Why did Mr. Roy uncuff you?” he (Gabriel) asked.
“Was that his name?”
“Yes.”
I look to Gruff. “And you’re Miller?”
He nods.
“You’re next, Miller.” |-

Bahahaha!! LOVED HER ATTITUDE!! She's crazy!!!! You have to notice her audacity! Other than her, I loved the storyline. It is incredible. INCREDIBLE. Plus, ORIGINAL. And Marla? She's NOT one of those whiny, delicate heroines we meet. She is fighting at every point. She isn't letting go! She does not surrender!! Oh but when she does, believe me she's enjoying every minute of it. ;)

The overall STORY was THRILLING and enrapturing! I enjoyed it hugely!! Lemme tell ya - 55% into the story, I was EXTREMELY EXCITED with anticipation, and the best part is that it didn't let me down!! I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, I read and read and read until I finished the whole book.

--| “ You don’t escape from Hell without learning some of the devil’s tricks. ” |--

And the BATHROOM SCENE was HOTTT!!! Damn!! The Hero, Gabriel is a JERK. But this….??

-| “Marla, I asked you why he uncuffed you,” says Gabriel.
“Is that not on the video?” I respond, curious. It would be nice to know which rooms are bugged for sound and which are not.
Gabriel sees through this, however, and slaps my face with his open palm. The hit isn’t hard at all, but the sound echoes off the hard tiles. Surprise gets me more than any degree of pain. My heart thumped so hard I could feel it in my skull. I grin. “Was that supposed to hurt?”
Smiling back , Gabriel slaps my face again, harder this time. “ Got any more questions? ” |-

Oh myyy! I think it was EPIC!! This is just a quote, but I mean the whole scene was epic!! At this point I was LOVING this book!!!

Frankly speaking, when I received the ARC I did not expect anything much from the story. And what I found out while I was reading the Prologue grabbed my attention. The story gets interesting, and really, the book started out pretty great! And then in the second half of the book, I felt like the story broke its own record, RACING and rising up crazily in the story bar graph!!

For me it happened from the Forest Scene. Gabriel and Marla are in the forest and that is when, according to me, the story steps up on whole new level. It was insane, thrilling and…pretty fast. I definitely did not see that coming.

I had so many parts highlighted in the book, I loved so many parts, I did not know which ones to choose to add in this review. Lol!!

At last, I would recommend this book to a reader who LOVES to read crazy, disturbing dark stories and wants to try something new. Because I am a reader who loves to read crazy, disturbing and dark stories and I definitely did not regret reading this book!!

To me, *The story was refreshingly dark kind of different.*

-| He takes a clipboard out of the drawer and starts scribbling notes. “I’m going to ask you a few questions. Then I’m going to examine you. I’d appreciate it if you made this easy on both of us.”
“Oh, is this hard on you ?” I snarl, pulling at the cuffs binding me to the table. |-

Loved.Her.SASS!! Loved the couple's conversations.

The book is a *STANDALONE* with a *HEA*. I received an ARC in exchange of a voluntary review of the book.

-| “ I will not be pulled into hell without dragging a few of them along with me. ” |-

This book has potential to be a 5-star success but first it needs a thorough editing.

What's impressive about this book:
-There are many stories out there about women who are abducted and kept a sex slaves yet Ms. Rayne added some unexpected aspects to this one.
-The female main character Marla isn't your typical weak captive nor is she the boilerplate abductee who refuses to be broken; she is a creative combination of both.
-Just when I would become frustrated with what I felt was an unlikely romance between the main characters, Ms. Rayne would throw in an unexpected curveball to completely change my opinion.

After reading the above comments, one might wonder why I didn't rate this book higher. The answer is simple: ERASED has an extraordinary amount of potential yet in it's current state, it falls short.
-The romance between the main characters was interesting yet because of the leaps and gaps in their storyline, the likelihood and believability of their romance was negatively impacted.
-With more thorough character development, the characters in this book could be remarkably unique.
-This book is filled with typos, misplaced pronouns and grammatical errors.

Rayne is obviously talented, this book simply needs to be edited more thoroughly.

There's a good reason a girl shouldn't go out alone at night and Marla finds out just what that is...Find out what happens to her at the hands of evil men. Will Marla break,or is she strong enough to withstand everything those men throw at her.....And who is Gabriel, the man determined to train her....is he friend or foe? If you like your stories dark with a surprising twist here and there, this is the story for you. Sansa's heroine is a girl that doesn't whine, but is strong and resilient, determined to survive this hell. I loved her....and her story!

On her last night in town Marla is kidnapped and brought to a large old mansion. She is wondering what this place is but the reader understands immediately that she is to become a sex slave. But what I could not wrap my head around was that Marla seemed to enjoy being kidnapped and manhandled. Between my legs I feel an electric ache that can’t be ignored. Struggling to get free is… turning me on.

IMO there with a lot of inconsistently in the book. Marla was portrayed as this badarse girl who got away with killing two of the bad guys with no severe repercussions??? Really?
And Gabriel being the sadistic dominant crying! Yeah, sure!
Right from the beginning I knew who the old man Halloran was because of his reaction when Gabriel calls him Halloran He cringes. “I’ve asked you not to call me that.”
So no big surprise there when Marla learns who he is.
Marla is kept in a padded cell, often in a straitjacket or bound to a bed and refused to be broken or give up her plans for escape.

The story is told in different POVs alternating between Marla, Gabriel and Halloran.
I had a hard time getting invested in this book. The story progressed super slow for me, though it had the potential to be a winner. It was just short before the end that I somewhat got into it, but overall I skipped pages as it was boring me. This is supposed to be a DARK story, but it failed for me.

ARC provided to me by author Sansa Rayne (thank you Sasha). I'm reviewing this book because I want to... and because I always review the books I read.
A very strong beginning of this book; the story sucked me right in. After that it slowed down a little but it picked up towards the end and even had a nice HEA. I'd say this is a dark story, but not because of what happened with Marla! Nope, Marla seemed to enjoy the abuse and so called 'training'? For me, Marla wasn't convincing as a kidnapping victim. What made this book dark was everything else that happened at Holloran Asylum. Holloran and Vaughn were really sick and twisted, but I liked them as the bad guys. But Gabriel... I don't know, I think I didn't like him very much? Gabriel was not convincing as the good guy, nor as a bad guy. The relation between Marla and Gabriel was unbelievable; some kind of instant love, which was weird given the situation. Actually, both main characters 'missed' something to make this book a 5 star read for me. All that being said, I really enjoyed this book and give it 4 big shiny stars.
{Begin was erg sterk; "dat worden 5 sterren" dacht ik, maar helaas zwakte het verhaal later wat af. Hier en daar miste het nét die scherpte om het een 5-ster te laten zijn. En dat lag wat mij betreft alléén aan de niet-overtuigende hoofdpersonen; Marla en Gabriel waren het allebei nét niet.}

When I finished Erased , I was torn with lots of emotions . I 'm a huge fan of darker reads and this author made it impossible for me to put this book down . It's a dark story of raw survival . It's gritty ,raw , unique ,horrifying but at the same time very beautiful written too . The character development was very gripping and I loved the way Sansa Rayne made me love Marla more and more throughout the book and made me root for her . Marla reflects a great strenght even at the moments those horrible terrors threaten to consume her . I was on pins and needles to find out if escape was even possible for her .
Erased is a perfect dark read showing you what's it like to experience something so terrible and horrifying , it's an incredible story of a very dark and dangerous world and not at all for the fainted of heart !
This was my first book by Sansa Rayne but definitely not my last . I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this fantastic read which was graciously provided by this author .

Loved this dark thriller! Please do take note of the warning, this is a dark read. Marla is kidnapped and endures a lot although she is one tough character, I loved how strong she was. The story is fast paced with so much drama and emotion, characters you love to hate and a story that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. A great read!

Marla is fierce yo! Like dang who kicks ass...women! I was engrossed in the book couldn't put it down. When Marla gets abducted and ends up at the asylum I was thinking I'm about to read some sketchy things here for real! I loved Marla's drive and defiance. She was so badass. I could literally taste the hate she had for everyone of her abductors. For Gabriel man I could feel the frustration and the war going on inside him. I was glad to see he pulled himself into the light. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend to anyone who loves a strong 💪 female lead.

There was something holding me back from connecting to the characters of this book. The storyline was good, interesting. That managed to keep my interest enough to see how the author had this book play out and come to an end. Dark to an extent, yes...but didn't meet my preference for dark.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Marla finds herself alone at a bar, recently fired for her job and about to move to a different town. No one will notice that she has gone missing and the man who took her knows this. Taken to a secluded facility in the mountains, locked in a cell, and stripped of her dignity, Marla has been promised a fate worse than death. They want to break her will. They plan to erase her. The only good thing is that one of her captors is not a vicious monster. He is a doctor named Gabriel. He wants Marla to except her captors control to spare herself months or even years of torment and pain. His demeanor however is hiding a dark, burning secret. Marla is drawn to him and his talk of submission. He seems to be her best shot at an escape, but she hungers for me. They will pay for what they have done with Gabriel's help. They wanted a toy, but what they have woken in Marla is a terror.

I have a huge love for dark romance stories. I devour them and you will too when you pick up Erased. This book has a little bit of everything you need in a good dark romance and then some. I loved every single second of this book. I absolutely could not put it down. Marla had got to be the most bad butt character I have read in a long time. That woman gives as good as she gets when she can and I cheered her on so hard. My daughter actually probably thought I had lost my mind while I was reading Erased because I found myself talking to Marla while sitting on the edge of my seat. I don't think these men knew what they were getting in to when they took Marla and I loved that. She just didn't lay down and take it or let these men break her, she fought.....hard. She meets Gabriel when she first get to Halloran Asylum. He is the doctor there and is assigned to her. To break her actually. Gabriel was promised by Halloran there would be no more women after an incident at the asylum but that promise got broken and now he finds himself in charge of breaking Marla. However he sees something in Marla. He want's to protect her as much as he can and get her out. Their journey together will have you too talking to the book and on the edge of your seat. I was sorry to see this book end. I had such a good time reading it.

Erased is a dark romance so be warned in case you have triggers. It was also my first book by Sansa Rayne. Boy oh boy is that about to change as I have Good Sick on my Kindle waiting for me. If you love dark romances you don't want to miss Erased and I'm sure anything that Sansa Rayne writes will be just as dark and just as good. I can not wait to see what she comes up with next.

***4 Dark but Different Stars!!!**

This was really a great read and the prologue sucks you right in from the very beginning!

After being fired from her job as a reporter, Marla decides to have a drink at the local bar the night before she is to move to another city. She meets a stranger at the bar who instantly gives her bad vibes and for good reason too. Marla is abducted and taken to this sex slave compound called the Halloran Asylum. Marla is feisty, has a great attitude and I really liked how she was a strong heroine. She wasn’t one of those helpless individuals and she promises herself that she would do everything in her power to escape the hell that she has been taken to. What Marla and the other women went through was rough but Marla didn’t let this break her. Her ultimate goal was to escape.

Gabriel is the asylum’s doctor and is truly upset that Marla was taken in the first place as no more women were to be taken anymore. He was truly remorseful, sometimes sweet and I would have like if Gabriel had more of back bone, but I can see where the author was going with Gabriel’s character.

There are many twists and turns that you don’t expect and I dropped a few “oh shit’s!!” during some parts. The author wrote the book really well and the story flowed effortlessly. The actions against the women were disturbing and I like how the author focused on the plot rather than the violence towards the women.

I recommend this book highly. This is a perfect starter book for those readers wanting to get into the dark genre. This was a great read and I look forward to reading more from this author. Grab a copy when it goes live!! You will not be disappointed.

I was provided an ARC by the author and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Wow. That was a really wild and great read. As promised, it's quite dark and definitely a thriller. There's a lot going on, in a good way.

At the foundation this is a really unique and well told story. I enjoyed the author's writing style and I thought she did a great job of scene setting. But best of all, it was an almost non-stop supply of surprises. Each time I thought I had somwthing figured out, she threw in another twist. It was full of action and suspense and I loved how it kept me on the edge.

I also really loved the character development. Even the ones I hated (Vaughn, Halloran) were well written and I enjoyed trying to figure each one out. I would have liked to have learned more about the other girls at the asulym.

Gabriel was quite the mystery. I loved his two sides and he, like the story, kept me guessing. Marla was really amazing- her fire and spirit. She's such a fighter and I loved that about her. At first it worked perfectly. You knew they were dealing with someone special that would challenge them in ways they weren't prepared for. But then at some point it started to become a bit unbelievable. She was almost too tough, too resilient, too unaffected by what was happening to her and the things she was had to do to survive. Also the story seemed well paced until the end, when it felt rushed. But those things were minor compared to how well the the overall story was crafted and how intriguing and creative it was.

I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to anyone that likes erotic, dark thrillers.

Wow..this was such a dark erotic smorgasbord of kidnap, murder, intrigue, sexual slavery and lust.... not for the fainthearted it focused on the twisted relationship between Gabriel and Marla as they navigated their way through the intense reactions and feelings they had for each other in a world neither wanted to inhabit...

The narrative came from three separate points of view: Marla whose emotions, actions and reactions were shared directly with the reader, Gabriel whose motives and thoughts were often in direct conflict with his outward deeds and from the captor's perspective..the characters in this story, whether they were a force for relative good or evil, were all interesting...the relationship between Marla and Gabriel was so complex both were conflicted and unable to control their environment whilst being constantly under a menacing scrutiny..

I have to admit that for a good three quarters of the book I was not overly convinced or enamoured with Marla's personality at times she was feisty to the point of reckless and some of her responses seemed unlikely under the circumstances in which she found herself.....it was only towards the end of the book that I finally warmed up to her...

This is a disturbing book which begged the question can any meaningful relationship grow out of darkness and destruction...it was a thrilling read which held my attention to the end..I received a copy of this book as an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review...

This is the first book by Sansa Rayne I've read, and was selected to be one of the May BOM in the Goodreads reading group. It has dark elements, but they're mixed with lightness. Marla Angel is a reporter recently sacked from her job for insulting her boss live on air. The book opens where she's in a bar, reminiscing about her reasons for leaving. She strikes up a conversation with a guy, but her internal radar tweaks, so she leaves. While she's waiting outside for a taxi, someone puts a bag over her head and knocks her out. She ends up in Halloran's Asylum. This is where it gets dark. I'm not going to reveal any spoilers about what happens, but it was a relatively quick read for me. I didn't really feel the connection between her and the male lead, but I suspect that's what the author had in mind. It had a realistic ending, and I was pleased the author allowed the natural course of things to occur rather than bending the rules to fit the book.

Review: Holy S_ _ t!
Erased is a seriously dark and psychologically thrilling book.... and I absolutely LOVED every minute of it!
Author Sansa Rayne wrote a fabulous book that often messed with my mind and I devoured it in one sitting! I wanted to read faster to find out what happened next, but also struggled as I did not want it to end. The storyline is unique and well-paced and the characters are well-developed and complex.
I decided that I am not going into the plot as I think it’s best to begin this story without any spoilers or hints of what is to come. I do believe that this is a must read for all those who love dark romances/psychological thriller!

I honestly have no clue on how to review this book. I can say it's really good and it has stretched my boundaries on reading Erotica, but that won't do it justice. This book is different from other books I've read within this genre. The characters are very likable and I honestly LOVE Gabe even though I think he could have been a better person. Marla is kick ass and I love her take-no-shit attitude. I felt sad that she went through what she did but happy at the outcome of it all. However, with all that said, it's a dark romance and some scenes left me unable to read more for a bit. Overall the story line is great and the characters I actually felt like they were real people. If you're into dark romance/erotica go get this book! This is an ARC review and above is my honest review.

ARC was kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

The concept behind the book was good. Marla is kidnapped and ends up in trouble essentially because she has a big mouth, and I can certainly relate to that. However the relation between her and Gabriel was built from nowhere and I have some difficulty in believing in love at first sight in a situation where you are basically fighting for your life. It would be more something like Stockholm syndrome.

But it is entertaining and we can spend a few good hours wanting to know what comes next, so more a 2.5 for me.

This is one of those books I wish half stars were a thing because If they were this would be a 4.5 (only because odd my emotions throughout it). I was in shock when I started this and throughout the book. not what I was expecting when I came across this. But I was surprised with how much I wanted to keep reading it. during most of it I was conflicted with how I felt. But I ended up liking it in the end so much that I signed up to get the extra epilogue which was worth it. This will definitely stay in my mind for awhile.

This was my first book I read from this author and it won't be my last. This dark thriller will have you hooked from the beginning. Marla is in the wrong place at the wrong time and is abducted and when she wakes up she can't believe what she sees. Marla won't go down without a fight and Gabriel might be her only hope. Great Read and I loved Gabriel & Marla and the ending was perfect
