I read the first volume of this series, and it was not good, but I'm plowing on to volume 2 because it has Winnie the Pooh on the cover and I want to read it as part of my Pooh Project. This series is an adaptation of an arcade game called Disney Magical Dance on Dream Stage (You can see the game in action here: https://youtu.be/OTjLbVVbCSM ).

Well, I did like the Winnie the Pooh chapter quite a bit, as Pooh reveals himself to be a zen dance master because he eats to the beat. There's even another chapter that features Tigger, but that one is just okay.

Unfortunately, the rest of the book just bored as various less interesting Disney characters -- Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Lilo & Stitch -- help the heroine keep practicing and pushing herself as her school team enters the big dance tournament.

In the future, they should ditch everyone else and just give us a whole book of dancing Pooh!

FOR REFERENCE:

Contents: Card 7: Winnie the Pooh -- Side Story Comic 1 -- Card 8: Minnie Mouse -- Side Story Comic 2 -- Card 9: Donald Duck -- Card 10: Stitch and Friends -- Card 11: Tigger -- Side Story Comic 3 -- Card 12: Alice -- Side Story Comic 4 -- Card 13: Minnie and Daisy -- Card 14: Tinker Bell

(Pooh Project: Phase 2! I've managed to catalog all the shorter Pooh projects my family owns (see the list here). While I work through few remaining longer Pooh books we own, I'm missing my daily dose of Pooh, so I'm going to start seeking out some of the Pooh books I don't own – yet – from libraries IRL and online. See the reviews here.)

I absolutely loved the first volume but this volume was a bit disappointing. I wish it wasn’t so rushed and built on some of the emotions and interactions more to support the plot.

This volume felt like a whirlwind of events as practice resumes for the upcoming Nationals. The choreography gets more advanced making things harder for Rin but she has the help of Tinker Bell and friends. I liked how there was a lesson behind each chapter that is transferable to many real-life scenarios. However, it felt rushed when coupled with Rin’s interactions with the other dance students making it seem almost out of place or awkward. This volume has slightly more romance but it’s not developed properly and seems like a random addition.

Rin’s character has always been lovable since volume one and her innocence allows her to keep striving forward by working hard. It’s commendable and I enjoy how she’s reflective and ambitious throughout. Rin is also quick to apologize when she knows she’s made a mistake and I love her humbleness. The other characters may not have always noticed or appreciated, but Rin has always helped her dance team when things are difficult. Her positivity just radiates throughout this manga in every situation!

In this volume, Rin faced quite a bit of difficulties but she eventually overcame them with the help of her Disney friends. Luckily, there wasn’t any drama created by her dance group mates, but I disliked how none of them offered to help. Part of being a team means helping each other and overcoming the weaknesses together but this wasn’t evident in the series much. Even with Kai, he always seems to be watching over Rin but he hasn’t offered any direct help. It’s probably just me, since the purpose is to include the Disney characters in a prominent way, but I couldn’t help feeling sorry for Rin at times.

Overall, this was a fun read but not something I would reread. I liked the meaningful messages behind each chapter and the Disney characters interwoven throughout. However it fell short for me because it felt rushed and underdeveloped. I liked the concept and I think it might have done better if it was a longer series. It’s definitely a good short read if you’re looking for something light hearted and quick though!

the Ariel side story!

I don't think it needs to end - after all, it's international competition time, right?

I don't know, I really enjoyed getting to see Winnie the Pooh and Piglet dancing around with this very 90s looking shojo girl. Not something I ever expected to find!

“Keep your chin up. Keep your eyes on the goal. You can overcome anything if you keep this in mind.”

This series as a whole was very much an exhilarating time. It follows a girl named Rin who loves dancing, putting a lot of effort into it but slowly getting disheartened at how she cannot reach the other dancers who've graduated from the basics and get to check out the classy moves that Rin had always wanted to try. But one day, these feelings of hers, summon a mysterious fairy or is it.. Tinkerbell! And soon she started unleashing different Disney charecters to help Rin in her dancing endeavours as she slowly starts to value every single dance move, making tons of friends along the way.

Ok, so this reminded me of Sofia the First especially the part where various Disney princesses appeared before Sofia, at times of distress. Rin was definitely an endearing charecter but also a bit annoying at times especially parts were she's constantly messing up things, not only for herself but also the people around her. At times, she lets her personal feelings get in the way which kinda ruined the plot in the second book. She did show growth at times but the ending was unfortunately a bit convenient and abruptly rushed. I would've loved to know what became of here after the events in the book where . I know that I'm nit-picking the details eventhough it wasn't a bad book in the slightest. I just loved the Kilala Princess series by the author and would've loved if this series was also a bit longer, as so many things could've been resolved properly. Meh... maybe I should reread Kilala Princess soon. Despite that, I would recommend this to my fellow Disney lovers who wants to read a short, nostalgic book on the charecters we grew up cherishing ❤️ (Other than Tink...Mickey, Alice, Winnie, Piglet, Lilo, Stich and so many other wonderful charecters made their appearance)... Happy Reading 😊!

Rin's team have done well in and now in the nationals, they must try their hardest to make it through the competition. Will she and the others do well and will Rin have the confidence and courage to dance through and follow her dreams? Read on and find out for yourself.

This was a pretty good read and is the conclusion to this manga duology. If you love Disney and dancing, definitely check this out at your local library and wherever books are sold.

The end of the series.. this story was really cute and sweet!! I'm glad we had a happy ending, without her suddenly becoming perfect at everything. I don't understand how the disney characters are allowed to come up onstage in the contests though?? I still enjoyed it, but that really confuses me, haha. Still, this is a very cute and fun read!!! I would recommend!

(This book contains mildly sensitive content. I would give it a rating of all-ages!)

This manga is cute. You should read it! But it left me quite unfulfilled, to be honest. I was shocked when my sister reminded me this was only a two-manga series. I was so annoyed that it ended, it didn’t seem like an ending, it seemed like an ending of a VOLUME. It was cute and I liked the dance concept, so it’s a shame!

I enjoyed the plot line but I don’t condone the short that promotes eating disorders in dancers. They literally pinch her “fat” and critique her eating. This is read by kids and that’s just not ok.

Cute, a little confusing at times, but it's still an adorable read. Though I'm wondering why Jasmine was included in the finale. She was never in the storyline...did I miss something?
