Loved it! This was my first book by Brynne Asher and it won’t be my last. This book was exactly what I wanted and expected. Beautifully written with an interesting and engaging story and well-developed characters, Vines was a page turner and a thrilling ride from beginning to end.
This is the story of Addy Wentworth and Crew Vega, two damaged individuals who carry the pain of their past like a heavy burden on their shoulders, but whose love for each other eventually sets them free. But yes, things were complicated. This story flowed right from page one and had that ideal balance of sweet, romance and steamy with elements of suspense/mystery thrown in the mix, but somehow avoids the angsty-drama.
I loved Addy’s character. Strong, funny, independent and definitely not a pushover. Ah… Crew… he was such a protective alpha male all wrapped up in a sexy package. I adored the vulnerability under all that strength. How he helped Addie heal from her past and how he became the hero she so desperately needed. These two perfectly complemented one another to make each other stronger. They found the right balance between them, feeling free to be their true selves with each other, with no restraint and no false pretenses, and drawing great comfort from that. Together they were also smoking hot and they had chemistry in spades!
Overall, this was a truly heart-warming and satisfying read. I am a new fan of this author's work and definitely looking forward to read the next book in the Killers Series. Overall rating: 4 solid stars!

Muscles, scruff and dimples…what more could you ask for in a new neighbour?

I drink wine but to be honest, I don’t really think about where it comes from. I buy it from the bottlo take it home, put it in my fridge and wait until Thursday night. See, now that I’m back working, Thursday night has become my Friday night. I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again…MY HUBBY IS AWESOME!! Because he works from home, he always makes sure that on Thursday’s there’s a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge (no, you can’t have him, but I MIGHT be willing to put him up for cloning if it becomes available). Anyways, wine waiting for me in my fridge on Thursday night is generally the extent of my thoughts on wine and where it comes from.
Back to the story...Holy Shamoly!! I absolutely loved Vines.
Addy owns a vineyard and is working her butt off to make it a success. She was visiting the area one day after a spur of the moment decision to return to where her mum grew up. Her mum had died of cancer and Addy decided that it would be nice to scatter her ashes there. While Addy was in Virginia, she came across a vineyard that was for sale. This was an opportunity that Addy couldn’t pass up. A failing business with potential, her background in hotel management and ideas on how to improve it, led her to make an offer. One humungous business loan later, Addy is in her happy place. Her happy place also happens to have a few cows that liked to be walked around the property. One day while out for her daily cow walk looking for Harry with Scarlet trailing behind (yes they’re the cows' names) Addy meet her new neighbour.
Crew Vega can’t believe his new neighbour has pet cows. She’s extremely attractive, but obviously, a little cooky too. Crew has moved to Virginia to start up a new business. He has lived a life for the last ten years that has led him to have a lot of secrets. Crew can’t tell anyone what his new business is or what his previous profession was. He usually tells people that he works for the government. Through one of his contacts, he finds out that his new neighbour isn’t as she appears. It’s not long before Crew comes to realise that Addy is in danger…and he’s just the man to protect her.
Vines is a love story that packs a punch. There are mystery, action and extremely sexy scenes that had me squirming. I’ve read all of Brynne Asher’s work and this is by far her HOTTEST one. Notice the capital letters, it’s because I REALLY mean it. She even steps a toe into the kinky world. Not OTT by any means, just enough to arouse curiosity and get your heart pumping. The mystery kept the story going from start to finish. The action included one heart-pumping car chase that had me irritated that Crew's fancy car got damaged.
Why not a full 5 stars? To be honest, it was because Crew peeved me. He’s all...trust me, put your faith in me, I’ll be here for you…until he left. Bloody loyalty to friends. Yeah, yeah, I know he saved lives, but geez, how can I trust you again, Crew? You SAY you won’t leave but what happens the next time your knucklehead friend gets it in his head to find a bit of action? Hmmm? I guess I’ll just have to trust you, won’t I?
He’s a bloke, I shouldn’t be surprised. Even my nearly perfect hubby thinks he’s invincible. Sure hubby, you’re invincible with your dodgy knee, tennis elbow and creaky neck. I guess I’ll have to forgive Crew. Let’s hope he learns his lesson and doesn’t disappoint me again.
There’s one particular scene where Addy gets invited to The White House for dinner as her wine is being featured. The outfit that was described inspired me to create this Style Setter Tribute. The dress is not exactly the same, but once I saw it I had to use it. Ms Asher described it as silver from top to toe.
I really enjoyed Vines and it kept my attention from start to finish. Yes, Crew peeved me off, but lucky for him, he does super sweet stuff to make up for it. I can’t wait for more Killers and I think Grady will have a very, very interesting story to tell.

I am a huge fan of Brynne Asher's Carpino series, so when I saw that she was coming out with a new series I just about screamed like a major fangirl. I honestly didn't even read the blurb before deciding that I was going to read this no matter what. And I am happy to announce that Vines definitely lived up to the greatness that I have come to expect from Ms. Asher.
When Crew moved to Virginia he figured it would finally be his time to relax and set up his new life now that he's done with his job. The job that took way too much from him life. But when he meets his new neighbor, Addison, and her pet cow he knows he will be doing much more than just relaxing. Especially when his past comes back and has it's sight set on Addison. Now his job is to protect her, even if it's from himself.
Okay I had no clue what direction this book was going to go in, but my suspicions about it were not correct. I figured out that Crew wasn't who I thought he would be early on, so then I was just left wondering what he was up to and why exactly he moved to Virginia. I loved that I had so many questions throughout the book and that they were answered in the best moments. There was no waiting until the end so that it would be this big shock right before the book ended, which I tend to get annoyed at. Instead I got my answers slowly as the book moved along and I was honestly shocked by some of them.
Even Addison wasn't who I thought she was and I loved that her character surprised me. Overall I really liked her and Crew together and it was fun how their lives intertwined from the very beginning. They had an amazing chemistry with one another that I loves seeing, especially at the steamy moments.
This book had so much involved with it and it was all very interesting. I loved getting the suspenseful moments mixed in with the sweet ones. It also had humor from the weirdest things (pet cows, anyone?) but it somehow worked with the story and just added to why I liked it so much. Bottom line, read this book!

5 Perfect 'Let's Live' Stars
BLOWN AWAY!!! That’s how this book made me feel, and that’s how I expect you to be after reading it. Completely blown away with Vines!
It had been some time since Brynne Asher has released a book – if you haven’t yet read her Carpino Series, you MUST!!! – but I had not forgotten what an incredible writer she is, and this book only reinforced it in a way that I will never forget. What an incredible story!
Vines is the first installment of Brynne Asher’s new series, Killers, and what an beginning it is! It gets you hooked from the very prologue, and Crew and Addy’s story is the perfect intro to what it’s looking up to be an extraordinary series.
Crew Vega, a recently retired ‘Soldier of Fortune’ has spent the last ten years of his life on the dark, in every possible way. After all this time he thinks he will find the peace and quiet he needs in a remote enough place, which will allow him to train the next generation of professional assassins/killers.
Of course all his well planned solitude goes down the drain when a stubborn and charismatic cow – yes, you read correctly and I promise you will love these cows’ role and participation on the plot, lol – decides to cross his fence as if it’s her right, much to her owner’s aggravation, and brings Addy to his path.
Addy Wentworth has been living for the last year and a half, a peaceful and successful life as a vineyard and country business owner. She made a huge bet when she decide to acquire the struggling business, but due to her hard work and full dedication she succeeded and is recognized for it. So control and profound reasoning and pondering have always been ingrained in her, until Harry – her cow – decides to take a tour, and ends up inforcing her meeting of her new, dark and handsome, neighbor.
A simple enough situation that will end up changing their life forever, because even after only a couple of words exchanged, their physical reaction to one another it’s impossible to deny.
A smirk spreads across his scruffy face, and as if out of nowhere, a dimple appears. Smack dab on his left cheek. A dimple. Proof there’s soft under the sharp. Hell if that dimple isn’t the hottest thing I’ve ever seen, even if it is covered in scruff, sweat, dirt, and hidden under a sharp toughness.
Damn if I don’t feel that in my dick at the same time my chest seizes. When the muscles ripple up my back, I have to clench my jaw to overcome it. This strange sensation is foreign, something I’ve never experienced. I can appreciate a hot woman, but my entire body seizing? I’m fighting the urge to charge across the room to get her away from him, when I don’t even know why he’s here.
They are both caught of guard with their bodies and minds reaction to each other, because never before in their life someone caused any of these feelings in them. It’s all so new and so foreign that even though they don’t understand them, and after the initial shock, they are curious and expectant to where it will lead them.
With Addison at my side, I find myself wanting nothing more than to fall into some sort of normal with her. I’ve never had normal, whatever that is.
I absolutely ADORED both main characters, and yes, Crew may have made me melt on more than one occasion, but come on, I’m only a hot blooded female, how could I not?!
This time I kiss her slow. She tastes and feels like she did earlier—perfect—but salty from her tears.
He was so enchanted with Addy, and that just made him even more captivating for me. Anyone could see their attraction. With that sizzling magnetism, how could they not? There was no hiding there!
It’s easy to see she can dish back your shit but still be all woman for you to enjoy, protect, and love on. You put that together with being targeted by old KGB, there’s no hope. You’re a fuckin’ goner.”
And come on, anyone could see it in him, and even with the teasing, he was not one bit ashamed by it and that had me sighing. Even during a tease he managed to come around and make the situation HOT!!! Lordy, the mouth on this man!
“Trust me, Grady.” I turn to him one last time before leaving. “There’s nothing soft on me when it comes to Addison Wentworth.”
Crew really was the PERFECT damaged hero. He never thought he had a change of something so good as Addison, so when they start getting involved we can really feel his care and affection for her. Like she is the most precious thing in the world for him.
“Never wanted something so much. Can’t stay away from you, can’t even get you out of my head. I’ve never had a shot at anything good, let alone someone like you.”
He sees her as his reward after his life of barely surviving, lonely and mechanic existence, and he says and shows it to her over and over. Really, completely swoon-worthy, unforgettable hero! Directly to my top ten list of ‘all time best-book-boyfriends’!
“You’re what I get. After ten years of doin’ what I needed to do, I settle next door to you.”
“Worth every minute of ten years. Never thought I’d say this, but I’d do it all again if I knew you were waiting for me at the end.”
Don’t get me wrong, Addy was just as incredible, and given her secretive past, she has proven to be a strong and resistant female character beyond belief! No wonder Crew fell for her the way he did! And she was one of the best heroines I have had the pleasure of reading. The way she made me connect with her and feel what she felt really was a testament of the author’s incredible writing talented. Through her eyes, Crew was even more captivating, and I didn’t think that was possible!
For some reason, I can’t take my eyes off his hands. Hands that have touched every part of my body. He’s comforted me with those hands. He’s aroused me, he’s gently yet firmly bound me, he’s washed me, and he’s woken me with his soft touch.
Of course that off-the-charts chemistry and palpable magnetism translated in some scorchingly HOT sex scenes and their no-bounds, all-in attitude and his dominant and filthy mind took it to whole new level. They were so perfectly and organically written, they became an extension of their feeling and smoking proof of their love. They were perfection!
“Why do you always talk about it in the third person?”
“Because my cock is its own person when it comes to you.”
After everything is revealed and they are absolutely transparent and vulnerable with each other that made all the scenes that more deep, where we could really feel their personal relief and appreciation for what they had in the other’s full acceptance! A real case of the truth will set you free, where their love really shined through!
“Not once did I think I could be who I am with anyone, let alone someone like you.”
I don’t care if he has to go back to keep his friend safe, or if he decides to go back on his own to take care of justice his own way, ridding our world of threats. Even if this does make him a killer. I’ll wait. I’ll hate it, but I’ll wait because he’s mine, and having him back is more perfect than anything I could’ve dreamed. Because I love him.
She knows it all and accepts me, my choices, my life, and she did it for me.
Imagining my life with Crew is a thing of the past because I know it’s real. He’s the foundation of my future, and knowing this, I can relish the present and live my life.
I apologize for the extensive quoting, but really, there was no way to translate the perfection of their – actually Ms. Asher’s – words. You can see for yourself that really, they could be any more perfect, and again I have to repeat myself, but really, there is no better word to describe this story.
And like the main characters weren’t enough to have us completely enraptured in this book, Brynne Asher gave us a splendid group of secondary characters that created a stunningly humorous and light dynamic in the plot and made me fall in love and want more of them, almost as much as Crew and Addy. And these teasing with the potential couples for the next books, wow! But the author also showed us a incredibly appealing vulnerability in these men, these killing machines, that left me simultaneously shocked curious to find out more, because they're so much more than their steel hard facades.
The life these men have chosen seems to come with solitude and loneliness.
I can’t wait for Grady and Maya’s story!!! Seriously!!! After this beautiful and unforgettable book, I can’t imagine it getting any better, but with these enticingly delicious elements that she already presented for the couple, I think Ms. Asher will yet again surpass herself and knock it out of the park once again, and I will be counting down the days and stalk her mercilessly – I apologize in advance, LOL – until the next book comes out! Please hurry up, I want it NOW!!!!
Suspenseful Contemporary Romance at its BEST! I give it 5 Perfect ‘Let’s Live’ Stars, but I would really give Vines 5 THOUSAND stars!
What an extraordinary story!!! Loved EVERYTHING about it, from start to finish! Crew and Addy’s story is now one of my Top Ten Favorite Reads of the year (and considering how many books I’ve read, that’s saying something, lol)!!!

And come on, anyone could see it in him, and even with the teasing, he was not one bit ashamed by it and that had me sighing. Even during a tease he managed to come around and make the situation HOT!!! Lordy, the mouth on this man!
“Trust me, Grady.” I turn to him one last time before leaving. “There’s nothing soft on me when it comes to Addison Wentworth.”
Crew really was the PERFECT damaged hero. He never thought he had a change of something so good as Addison, so when they start getting involved we can really feel his care and affection for her. Like she is the most precious thing in the world for him.
“Never wanted something so much. Can’t stay away from you, can’t even get you out of my head. I’ve never had a shot at anything good, let alone someone like you.”
He sees her as his reward after his life of barely surviving, lonely and mechanic existence, and he says and shows it to her over and over. Really, completely swoon-worthy, unforgettable hero! Directly to my top ten list of ‘all time best-book-boyfriends’!
“You’re what I get. After ten years of doin’ what I needed to do, I settle next door to you.”
“Worth every minute of ten years. Never thought I’d say this, but I’d do it all again if I knew you were waiting for me at the end.”
Don’t get me wrong, Addy was just as incredible, and given her secretive past, she has proven to be a strong and resistant female character beyond belief! No wonder Crew fell for her the way he did! And she was one of the best heroines I have had the pleasure of reading. The way she made me connect with her and feel what she felt really was a testament of the author’s incredible writing talented. Through her eyes, Crew was even more captivating, and I didn’t think that was possible!
For some reason, I can’t take my eyes off his hands. Hands that have touched every part of my body. He’s comforted me with those hands. He’s aroused me, he’s gently yet firmly bound me, he’s washed me, and he’s woken me with his soft touch.
Of course that off-the-charts chemistry and palpable magnetism translated in some scorchingly HOT sex scenes and their no-bounds, all-in attitude and his dominant and filthy mind took it to whole new level. They were so perfectly and organically written, they became an extension of their feeling and smoking proof of their love. They were perfection!

After everything is revealed and they are absolutely transparent and vulnerable with each other that made all the scenes that more deep, where we could really feel their personal relief and appreciation for what they had in the other’s full acceptance! A real case of the truth will set you free, where their love really shined through!

I don’t care if he has to go back to keep his friend safe, or if he decides to go back on his own to take care of justice his own way, ridding our world of threats. Even if this does make him a killer. I’ll wait. I’ll hate it, but I’ll wait because he’s mine, and having him back is more perfect than anything I could’ve dreamed. Because I love him.
She knows it all and accepts me, my choices, my life, and she did it for me.
Imagining my life with Crew is a thing of the past because I know it’s real. He’s the foundation of my future, and knowing this, I can relish the present and live my life.
I apologize for the extensive quoting, but really, there was no way to translate the perfection of their – actually Ms. Asher’s – words. You can see for yourself that really, they could be any more perfect, and again I have to repeat myself, but really, there is no better word to describe this story.
And like the main characters weren’t enough to have us completely enraptured in this book, Brynne Asher gave us a splendid group of secondary characters that created a stunningly humorous and light dynamic in the plot and made me fall in love and want more of them, almost as much as Crew and Addy. And these teasing with the potential couples for the next books, wow! But the author also showed us a incredibly appealing vulnerability in these men, these killing machines, that left me simultaneously shocked curious to find out more, because they're so much more than their steel hard facades.
The life these men have chosen seems to come with solitude and loneliness.
I can’t wait for Grady and Maya’s story!!! Seriously!!! After this beautiful and unforgettable book, I can’t imagine it getting any better, but with these enticingly delicious elements that she already presented for the couple, I think Ms. Asher will yet again surpass herself and knock it out of the park once again, and I will be counting down the days and stalk her mercilessly – I apologize in advance, LOL – until the next book comes out! Please hurry up, I want it NOW!!!!

What an extraordinary story!!! Loved EVERYTHING about it, from start to finish! Crew and Addy’s story is now one of my Top Ten Favorite Reads of the year (and considering how many books I’ve read, that’s saying something, lol)!!!

Pet cows, Alpha heroes, non-pushover independent heroines, entertaining side characters, a sweet romance, forehead kisses, and some action scenes to spice things up. These made such an enjoyable read that kept my company through my never ending shift.
I really enjoyed this. Maybe it wasn’t perfect and it got its flaws like being kinda insta-whatever but not the over annoying unbelievable kind. The hero was so freakin possessive, but I could ignore that for how sweet he could be. I also really liked Addy, she was definitely his equal. I’m looking forward to reading about the other characters.

Good romance; the suspense was a bit off and therefor anticlimactic.
Very likable heroine, if not for hero’s constantly attempts to make her to comply (aka submit), the love storyline would be almost perfect.
What’s wrong with having sex as equals?! *ugh*
The best part of the book were the cows!
How cool is it to have a cow for a pet?! *lol*

This book! It will definitely go down as one of my favorite books of 2017. It had action, romance, humor and plenty of steam. I couldn't stop reading it. One of my favorite types of stories is a romance with a storyline that has nothing to do with OW/OM drama. I love it when the couple work through the drama together, forging their bond stronger because of it. I also loved he witty banter between the characters. The little zingers and funny reference were great.
HEROCrew Vega - he had me all heart eyes and swoony. He was a tough, alpha male. Settling in after 10 years as an "independent contractor" for the government, he never expected a wandering cow to bring him to the love of his life. I loved his take charge attitude and how he didn't let Addie push him away. Underneath his dominant exterior was a loving man who looked after his friends and family.
HEROINEAddie- I'll be the first to admit that I am tough on heroines. I don't like them to be pushovers, yet I don't want an alpha, in your face heroine either. Addie was amazing. While she had endured a lot in he life, she was trying to make a go of it and surrounded herself with a great support system of friends. She was tough, yet vulnerable. Strong, yet she let herself lean on Crew. I think Miss Asher did an excellent job creating a balance for a great heroine.
SEXUAL HISTORY While neither were virgins, their past sexual history was not in your face. Crew was not portrayed as a manwhore and I loved that.
OM/OW DRAMA none whatsoever
SECONDARY CHARACTERS I really enjoyed the secondary characters. The guys Crew worked with were great. We did not have to see any of them with other women. The were stand up guys and I cant wait to see what their stories entail. The gang that worked with Addie were awesome. They were funny and looked after Addie.

The premise was good,

Audiobook review: the audiobook is a re-read/listen for me and the narrators were really good. It was easy to get lost in the story and that’s not always the case for audiobooks for me. I highly recommend it!.
Kindle review and 1st read: Loved it! The setting was unique and the storyline was exciting. Add in several great side characters, the romantic dance between the main characters, and funny cows. All of that and you get a fun, romantic suspense.
Addy owns a winery where most of the story takes place. She’s a great heroine who I could respect and I enjoyed her relationship with the cows. The cows had enough personality to be considered side characters. They were a funny addition. Then there were also other great side characters at the winery that brought a lot to the story.
Crew, is the kind of hero I like. He’s quiet...speaks more with a look than talking, he’s very protective, and despite what he does for a living, he’s genuinely a good guy. He also brings a few very, interesting side characters to the story.
I like that this is a series of standalones to look forward to more. I can see myself re-reading this one.

4.5 stars for this secret killer/secret identity/neighbors romance
This is a nice palate cleanser. It wasn’t dark like I thought it was gonna be, but I liked it. I wish there was more push-pull between the MCs. The an@l play scene was sooooo realistic omg. I’ll write more about it below 😂.
Crew (34) needs a lot of space to train killers. He’s officially retired from doing his secretive/government job, but he’s not completely out of the business. So he buys a property with a looooooot of land, and then he finds out his neighbor owns a vineyard. Luckily, her background check comes out clean… or so he thinks.
Addy (31) lost her mom two years before. She moved to Virginia, where her mother grew up, in order to spread her ashes. She does it on a vineyard and decides to invest and buys it. She’s a woman that follows the rules, doesn’t want any trouble, and is determined to succeed on her own. She’s witnessed tragedy in her life and wants to live peacefully.
When one of Addy’s beloved pet cows goes into his property, they officially meet. Of course, they find each other attractive, but neither have time for a relationship. When a suspicious person comes to visit Addy, Crew’s protectiveness comes out… and this is where I swooned 🥰.
The tension buildup was nice. From the putting on of her heels and leg rubbing, to the chip joke in her ear, I was ready 👀. The first kiss (29%) at the event was 🔥. Although it felt like it came out of nowhere, I saw what Crew was doing 👀. Besides being protective, he also found a way to distract Addy, and I was here for it. When he overpowers her that night in the room, I was melting… too bad he didn’t do that more often 👀 (I like dubcon/noncon scenes lol).
He’s not only in charge in the field, but he’s alpha in the bedroom 🥵. The way he controls her is absolutely scrumptious. It’s not an intense D/s relationship, but he demands that she gives in when he asks her too. She carries the weight of the world on her shoulder, and he makes her relax 😉🔥. I love how he shows his strength, how he gets her to let loose. Jeeezus, it was 🥵. At about the 50% mark is when it all happens, and I loved it.
THE ANAL PLAY SCENE WAS SO REALISTIC!!! I couldn’t help but giggle at Abby’s insecurities 😂. Girl. I feel you😅😅😅! I ask myself those SAME questions when I come across those scenes 😂😂😂. I love how Crew makes her feel comfortable… and eventually it’s super 🔥🔥🔥, but the leading up to actually doing it was so realistic. I appreciated it 😅 but also got a little hot myself 🥵.
There are some truths revealed about Abby’s past and I loooove how much of a bulldozer and protective hero Crew becomes. She might not like his methods, burn he does it all looking out for her.
Their HEA was super sweet and emotional. Gahh. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

1. I didn’t feel the connection.
2. Very reminiscent of the worst KA has to offer. Not slander towards KA cause I do have about 2/3 books of hers I love but most of her heroes I would shoot point blank. I hated him being controlling over things which he absolutely should be seeing her side of the issue.
• starting with the smaller issues which still grated me to no end and made me not enjoy reading it in the least - let her fucking sleep on the side of the bed which she has slept in for years. I would understand it if they both prefer the same side - but he had no preference. And this was just one of those instances of “small things” which he would do all the time. Him wanting to change the dynamics of her and the other people in her life. It spoiled the whole blossoming relationship and his character for me. I wanted to punch his face. Don’t come into someone’s life and change it to suit you. That’s freaking mental. Oh and another thing: stop saying “you can let go, be you, be free and real with me” Bitch! At no point did she give the impression she was anything but real! It’s the kind of talk of a guy who is trying to be all emotional and sensitive for the sake of getting into your pants. It gave me the ICK. I just felt like he talked for the sake of talking.
• he was controlling of everything that was “wrong with her” meaning even her anxiety disorder - he’d constantly make comments about how “she’ll get over it” or now that she’s with him, it will all be roses in her life. It was honestly so insulting imo. The conversations they would have and the way he talked to her - I COULDN’T STAND HIM. I just hate that guy. - he pushed all my buttons, all my triggers.
• if he says “trust me” one more time I’m gonna scream - it’s what I said at the 45% mark and believe me if I didn’t have neighbours, I WOULD have screamed because the man was shameless in saying that all the time but never really considering things from her perspective or her emotional needs. Fuck you and your trust. How about you trust her (the heroine) and tell her all the nitty gritty details instead. Trust is a 2 way street buddy.

I didn’t finish it because at around 67% I had already stopped reading about 4 times and was forcing myself to continue - so I probably will finish it just because I am a bit curious of how it wraps things up, but I feel confident in giving this a rating now because regardless of how the characters evolve, I was not ok with Crew and his way of behaving. He would not be someone whose company I could suffer through much less date.

This book had the perfect amount of everything--romance, suspense, action, humor. I'm so excited about the next book in the series, Grady's story, I NEED to know his backstory and see him get his HEA.

I've read a couple of books by this author, and every time I DNF and I couldn't understand why I lost interest because the plot and characters would usually be a perfect storm for me. But I figured it out why I can't seem to get into her books: Too much interaction with secondary characters. They just seem to come out of the woodwork and then we have to pause the story so the h can tell her friends what happened in the last couple chapters in the book. I HATE that. I already know what happened! I just read it! You don't have to hash out every single detail with the secondary characters!
I remember in another book the H and h were about to have an intimate moment and then her ENTIRE family bursts through her house like "Lets have dinner together!" and the H and h are like "That sounds like a great idea!" *eye roll*
Sometimes I love the secondary characters more then the main characters and sometimes I wish they didn't exist at all.
I remember in another book the H and h were about to have an intimate moment and then her ENTIRE family bursts through her house like "Lets have dinner together!" and the H and h are like "That sounds like a great idea!" *eye roll*

4.5 stars. I have loved every Brynne Asher book I've read so not sure what took me so long to read this one. Her heroes are so dedicated and awesome and Crew Vega was no different.
Addy was a relatable and awesome h. She had been through quite a bit in life and was just cruising along thinking she was happy. When Crew comes into her life and she feels safe and content for the first time she realizes how much she needed him.
Crew was also just getting through his days for the past 10 years due to his job and not thinking he'd ever have soul deep happiness for himself. The day he met Addy, all of that changed.
I loved that these characters didn't push each other away, there was no OW/OM drama and the trials they go through only make this couple stronger. The drama in this book comes from outside sources and strengthens their bond.
I can't wait for Grady and Maya's story next. I also really want an HEA for Asa.

Brynne Asher is a new to me author and I have to say, I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of her books.
Addy is the owner of a small Virginia Winery who has a few employees who she considers family since she has no family of her own. Her father was killed when she was a child and she recently lost her mother to cancer.
Crew Vega is her new neighbor who recently moved into the adjoining property. Addy meets her new handsome, intense, bossy alpha, neighbor when (one of) her pet cows wanders onto his property.
Crew is an ex secret agent who buys the property to train and recruit men for the secret agency he retired from, and minute he meets his quirky beautiful new neighbor he decides she'll be his.
Addy is definitely attracted to Crew, still she attempts to keep her distance, Crew just steamrolled all her attempts....which is a good thing since someone is out to destroy Addy. It will take all Crew's formidable skills to keep her out of harms way!!
All-in-all, a fantastic read with a yummy alpha. I'm absolutely looking forward to the rest of this series!!!

Well... This was a fresh change from all the romance I've been reading lately. Don't get me wrong, it's still romance but it had some action too, which was welcome!
The couple was good, he got a bit controlling and I eye rolled a couple of times with his "Addison" and commands but she wasn't a doormat and did whatever she pleased, so... Good.
Overall I give it 3.5 but rounded up because the writing style was good paced and the couple were cute, and because those forehead kisses made me so jealous that I may or may not have hinted I want more of those in my house.

It has been a while since I picked up Miss Asher books. I remember fondly about her book in The Killers series. Vines is not what I am expecting. I mean the signature humor is still there, the quirky and smart mouth banter, I loved. What is off is the plot. It seems the writing is rushed so the detail is off.
I have trouble understanding from one event to another event. I had to pause and re read the last chapter/ paragraph to understand what is going on. Aside from that, I enjoy the book OK.

This was the story of Addison and Crew, neighbors who have become lovers. Crew is a retired killer, and Addison has a past that she hides from everyone. They meet and fall instantly in love. And that's where my issue is.
I liked the background story and the action, but I didn't care for the love story because it was too instant for me, no depth to their feelings or emotions so I couldn't connect with them that much.
I love how crew was very protective of her, and I like Addy's strength. But nothing else.

Meh...this book was ok but it dragged. I don’t really have too much to say about it, it reminded me of Kristen Ashley but low-key boring. Crew was a great alpha hero, I liked him a lot and Addy started out strong and independent, but as the story went on she got weaker, dumber and more dependant on Crew for everything. For a suspense driven plot I just wasn’t invested at all in the story or outcome of these treasonous terrorists, I figured they would be taken down in the end but there weren’t really any edge of your seat moments. Just overall too long for me. I could have done without about 100 pages of this. Also way too many side characters, I couldn’t keep track of them Maya, Mary, Maggie...seriously? I didn’t care about them at all.

Their chemistry was amazing and I loved every single supporting character, so I am excited to continue with this series!

** The following are my thoughts about this book: **
* * I was inundated with a lot of secondary characters right off the bat. This resulted in a bit of a slow start because I had to stop and reread to make sure I could keep everyone straight.
* * However, once I got beyond the initial “character overload”, the story settled down and got into a groove. I remember thinking “how am I already at 55%?”, so that was a good improvement after a little bit of a slow start
* * I’m not a fan of insta love. This kind of straddled that line because the first time he called her “baby” with some feeling was about a week after they met. However, they didn’t really profess their love until a month or so after knowing each other. So, it kind of had an insta love vibe but yet they took some time too. It probably doesn’t make sense what I’m saying, but long story short, I felt the author pulled it off.
* * Secondary characters- I am a fan of quirky, odd, nosy, loveable, supporting casts. This cast filled that requirement (including the cows 🐮 )
* * I was a little ticked at Crew that he picked his friend over staying with Addison. I kind of got it, but I kind of didn’t. Maybe the intent was to help set up the next story, but I didn’t like his choice.
* * Crew was alpha without having to prove he was alpha. A strong guy, who knew what he wanted and could kick some ass. 👍

- Content Warning: nothing major. the epilogue mentions a couple miscarriages, but no detail other than that
- Setting: Virginia
- POV: besides H & h, there were also POV’s from some of the secondary characters.
- Tropes: military vibe, a tiny bit of suspense
- Hero likeable? Crew had me at “the smirk”. I really liked him. ”Crew Vega moves, even if it is slightly, tipping his head and crossing his arms. A smirk spreads across his scruffy face, and as if out of nowhere, a dimple appears.”
- heroine likeable? yes. I liked Addison from the very first cow scene and thought she had a strong backbone.
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 29%
- First time they sleep together: 53%
- Safe sex? Yes. Condoms were used and then they had the “clean” discussion and got rid of condoms.

When I found out that the lovely Ms. Asher had a new book in the works. I was so excited.
Then ARCs where being given and I was all over this shit. How could I but not request a copy to review?
I finished this book yesterday and I started my review yesterday. And now I'm stuck. It’s not that I don’t have anything to write about Vines quite the opposite actually but how to pick and choose? Mainly so that you can go out and buy the book.

How frank can you be with a book? Where do you draw the line? Do you base your review on your personal preference or objective in thinking that although this book isn’t for you, you still enjoyed it to some extent?
Overall I enjoyed this book and the new world that Ms. Asher has created and right from the beginning I was sucked into the story that although I can only take a 45 minute lunchbreak I easily hit the 60 minute mark. Ops. Luckily no one noticed.
On top of that I nearly forgot that the tram I take was on a different schedule and nearly forgot to get out to get the bus.
I can clearly see the attraction to the book it has all the ingredients that just make you want to read it but there were just some things that drove me bat shit crazy. I had difficulties with the book. No matter it still deserves four stars.
Addison Addy Wentworth. I loved her at the beginning of the book she is kind, fun, has a vulnerable streak but deep down she has a spine of steel. I was very intrigued about her background. And what a background she did have. I can’t see where the turning point is for me when I lost that connection with her.
Her ramblings were meant to be endearing and they were but her whole questioning of trusting Crew irritated me. I just to shout at her ‘Come on woman, what else you gonna do? Huh? Yes she has trust issues and I really do understand that but at some point you got to let it go and her inner musing on that topics was driving me to Bedlam. I swear this is just me.
Addy bought a winery and has turned the business into a successful enterprise. What she didn’t know when she bought the property? The winery came with five fixed employees and five cows. My favourite is definitely Harry. I hereby introduce you to Harry.
What I loved is Crew Vega. He is a superb Hero. He has everything you want in a hero. Crew is a walking contradiction. He is alert, aloof, tense and relaxed with a mystery surrounding him. I like his background of being off the grid for ten years and doing things that other people can’t and won’t do.
Their first conversation together? Hilarious and well unforgettable.
“Crew. Crew Vega.” I frown deeper. “That’s your name? „Still no change in facial expression. “Yeah.” “Oh, sorry. That’s just a little,” I pause, raising my eyebrows. “Unusual.” “I know.
Addy likes to give free wine to her neighbours turns out Vega isn’t that impressed.
“Do you drink wine?” “Only to be polite. When I’m forced to be polite.”
Adjusting to civilian life isn’t an easy life but with buying the farm in Virginia he wants to start a new chapter of his life even if there is a string attached to him getting out of the business. Crew can’t help but not stay away from Addison and the more he finds out the more he is taken with her.
She also has her own brand of trouble though and it goes way back some serious old ties that add a great plot line to the story. Crew is real, good and well he fights the bad guys. Sucker for a damsel in distress.
Addy had too much resistance to the relationship with Crew that I found it hard to get the connection in their relationship. But in saying that and I’m contradicting myself here for those same reasons above is the exact reason why it did actually work for me. It was frustrating but a good frustrating.
Now I personally think that Ms. Asher could have gone more in depth with this plot of the book and on top of that it could have been grittier but remember I am only a reviewer and not the writer and well I’m opinion doesn’t weigh in by a lot. Besides 4 stars so need I say more? Nuff said really.

This book couldn't possibly be any more tedious, even though I skipped and skimmed a large, large portion of it. The writer made the heroine drone on and ooooon, and way too many instances where some of her comments and whines bordered on the line of TSTL, the whole suspense element was so clumsily thought out and incorporated in the book that I cringed for the writer. Does she know how stupid and silly she’s making the hero sound?
The story is about a ninja/commando/ex marine/seal/agent kind of guy buying a huge plot of land so that he wouldn't have to run into people, and have somewhere to train his prospective recruits for his personal ninja company. His only neighbour is a vineyard. Turns out the new owner of the vineyard is a beautiful, business savvy, woman, who's been able to turn the whole place around in the short one year she's owned it. During the first background check that our hotshot makes, his high and lofty contacts tell him the woman is who she says she is, it's only after an old suspect comes to her winery that the hotshot's attention is caught and he again and in a very macho forceful way demands for a real background check. This, right here, made the whole thing seem so silly! If the guy is the hot shot the writer tries her best to make him out to be, who can get into a White House dinner at will, and has so many resources at the tips of his hands, then a simple background check has to be the very least he can get? Right? But it gets even more tedious, the villains and their business with the heroine are devised so clumsily that you just have to suspend any spark of intelligence you have, and just go with the writer who tells you they are bad guys and want to do mean things to the heroine. THe whole thing gets excrutiangly more boring and more predictable by every page until its blessed ending. There's zero, zero chemistry between the characters, it's so obvious that the writer must have been desperate to produce hot scenes, but it's my belief that her understanding of what chemistry really is, is Zero!

This, right here, made the whole thing seem so silly! If the guy is the hot shot the writer tries her best to make him out to be, who can get into a White House dinner at will, and has so many resources at the tips of his hands, then a simple background check has to be the very least he can get? Right? But it gets even more tedious, the villains and their business with the heroine are devised so clumsily that you just have to suspend any spark of intelligence you have, and just go with the writer who tells you they are bad guys and want to do mean things to the heroine. THe whole thing gets excrutiangly more boring and more predictable by every page until its blessed ending. There's zero, zero chemistry between the characters, it's so obvious that the writer must have been desperate to produce hot scenes, but it's my belief that her understanding of what chemistry really is, is Zero!

Unfortunately this book didn't work for me. I was really close to dnfing it but since most of my friends liked it I continued reading it. I won't lie, I mostly skim-read it (I read the dialogues and a few parts here and there).
I don't think there's only one reason why I didn't enjoy this book. I believe it was a mix of the wrong timing, my mood, the writing and the fact that it was so slow paced in the beginning.
Maybe I'll give it another try in the future and hopefully I'll enjoy it more but since I didn't like it now I can give it more than 2 ⭐

Brynne Asher, where have you been all my life!? 'Vines' is a deliciously sexy and thrilling romance perfect for fans of Kristen Ashley. I ADORED the Virginia wine country setting. And so much YES to Crew Vega!! Even the name is sexy and strong.
Addy is a wonderfully quirky and refreshing heroine. She has settled in the Virginia wine country, having recently purchased an historic vineyard complete with a very unique staff plus a small herd of cows. The setting alone grabbed me! Addy is trying to start her life over, but right from the beginning you can sense that is much more to her than meets the eye.
Enter her new neighbor Crew Vega, a gorgeous, no-nonsense hunk of a man who has his eye on Addy, in more ways than one. To me, 'Vines' is reminiscent of the Rock Chick series of books by Kristen Ashley, with a thrilling, fast-paced storyline, a funny and smart heroine and one Alpha male who means business.
I found 'Vines' to be a very refreshing, VERY sexy and totally enjoyable book with a unique voice. This is my first book by Brynne Asher and I have now purchased all of her other titles, and can't wait for the next book in this series. Highly recommend this funny and VERY hot romantic suspense story!

A very good read, and actually the first book I have read by Brynne Asher, my friend Shanny was raving about for ages...LOL and yeah, it took me a while to read her books but here I am...
I liked the way this author tells a story and that says smth...it's says, I am definitely intrigued in her writing style to get me more involved in it...
it was a complete wrap up - enemies to lovers, grumpy, determined, persistant and pulled into a dangerous work alpha with an independent, feisty heroine...with a little danger on the road and sweet, funny moments, this story will keep you interested until the very end.
