PART THREE Booker gets a grenade in the lap. Andy does what she does best. Nile tries to make sense of it all. A lot of shooting, some explosions, and a heartfelt declaration of love.
Greg Rucka, is an American comic book writer and novelist, known for his work on such comics as Action Comics, Batwoman: Detective Comics, and the miniseries Superman: World of New Krypton for DC Comics, and for novels such as his Queen & Country series.
3 issues into the first 5 issue series. I like the characters and how they are dealing with their extended almost immortal lives! Will watch the Netflix series for sure.
Damn, the dialogue in this series is so rich and beautiful, I kept going back over and over to rereading some of the scenes and dialogues because they are so beautiful, which I feel you don't often do with comics. Also, wow, can't believe Joe and Nicky invented romance.
Still pretty close of not exact to the Netflix series or the series is close to the graphic novel...but more history and backstory for certain characters is nice.
(Guess who just decided to read all current issues of The Old Guard in one sitting? Oh yes, it's me)
Not much plot here in this issue. There are action scenes of course, but not much progress on the plot. Instead, we get to know the characters a little more, especially Booker. We dive in deeper into his past/backstory in this part.
Characters are developing nicely and storyline is still keeping you drawn in page after page. Back stories to show how everyone meets helps with story progression and keeps you focused.
Little different from the way it was adapted in the movie but I loved that Joe and Nicky's scene line was kept as it is. It was hella romantic. Loved it also like the illustration style of this comic.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
I'm diving into this series after watching the movie on Netflix & it is rare that an adaptation stays so true to the source material. Sure, there are some differences, but the core is unchanged. I came to the comics looking for more Joe & Nicky & I'm not seeing much yet, but I LOVE that the moment in the van is the same in both the books & movie. The way Joe (Yusuf) responds to that jeering question, "What is he, your boyfriend," was truly beautiful to this incurable romantic.

The more I read the more I like this series. If you liked the Netflix movie I think you like these. Hop in and enjoy the ride. It's better than you're expecting.
I saw the movie which I loved, before I even read the comic. Overall it's a good read and I was interested where the story was different. I do like Greg Rucka's style I just wish the artwork was a bit better.
Saw the movie which made me want to read the comics. The "he's not my boyfriend" is the best scene ever and it honestly made me cry. Glad to see they did word for word from the comics as it is the most stunning and beautiful monologs ever
