A series of unexplained deaths are only a harbinger of the apocalypse to come. A mysterious figure who calls himself ‘the Immortal’ is plotting the destruction of the global economy, and only Tam Broderick and her CIA task force—the Myrmidons—can stop it.
But when the Immortal sends his followers on a quest to retrieve a medieval relic alleged to have mystical powers, the pattern becomes less clear. Is this a ruse to throw the Myrmidons off the trail? Or is the relic the key to the Immortal’s ingenious plan?

Mystic ByMiss Lyn on April 30, 2017 Format: Kindle Edition The mysterious Immortal, an amazing computer system that is supposedly unable to be hacked, danger all around. Will the Myrmidons be able to stop the Immortal and stay alive? This book is excellent and I just loved it. I received this book for an honest review.
Mystic is one of the books in the Myrmidon Files adventure series by David Wood and Sean Ellis.
The main characters are Tam Broderick’s Myrmidon Team. At various times they are working together or split up going separate directions. Avery had a fairly large role in this story and we learned a little bit more about Stone.
In this story, the team has stumbled across the murders of more than 100 people in the financial business. In the process of investigate the murders they run into a conspiracy to cause a global financial meltdown using a financial system called Mystic. The story starts in Connecticut, travels to Switzerland, France, Scotland, and Colorado. A key element of the story is the Brazen Head, a historical bronze head that was an example of early automation and we learn a bit about it during the adventure.
What I liked about the book, and what I like about many of David Wood’s books, was the arcane history he includes. The main characters are mostly likeable. However, in this particular series the characters seem to like to take swipes at our current president, and people who support the 2nd Amendment. It was a little off putting but I stuck it out. Avery made a few really bad decisions, but then she is not really a field person. The ending is more of a cliff hanger than a true ending to evil they were up against. And the antagonist, Thom Martiel, aka The Immoral, had a really bad idea about crashing the economy.
I would recommend this easy read for adults and young adults. You will have to look past the political rhetoric and not let yourself be bothered by it. This could be considered a lighter version of James Rollins.
Mystic is the second book in the Myrmidon series. Especially loved that Danes and Bones made an appearance.
Tam and the Myrmidon team are investigating a string of deaths of bank managers. The link between all of these deaths is a banking system called Mystic. "The Immortal" is planning to reek havoc on the global economy. He is also on the search for the Bronze Head that believes will help him.
Lot of action and twists and turns. You won't see the ending coming.
Tam, Stone, Avery and the rest of the Myrmidons another grand adventure deciphering what The Immortal is really after. Another hit for this series! Anyone that loves action adventure is sure to enjoy it.
