The New Normal: Tales from International School Teachers follows the experiences of 35 educators in 24 different countries. From Colombia to China, Morocco to Mexico, and many other places in between, veteran international school teachers share a wide variety of tales about moving, adapting, living, teaching, traveling, and leaving overseas. 100% of all proceeds will benefit education via The Children of Haiti Project.
"Therein lies the rub. Like many things in life, it's impossible to have it all. The benefits of being a fixture in one place contrast with the benefits of having life experiences in a variety of locales." Frank and I worked with several people that wrote essays for this book curated by our friend Matt Minor and his friend Kevin Duncan. I could "hear" Cailin, Matt, Jay, Karen, and Carmel when they "talked". This is a great read to remind us that those in international education have so many different experiences, but still so similar no matter where in the world we are! This would be a great book for friends and family to read so they can "see" that the experiences that Frank and I are not unusual, but rather the new normal. It also helps paint a picture of why we do what we do, outside of our lens. Perhaps I'll submit fo the next version?
Some of these stories are literary and beautiful, a cut above your average travel blog book. And 💯 % of proceeds go to Children of Haiti project. You can feel the heart of the project pour out of the book. 🌎
