Threads of Yesterday is book two in the Yesterday's Paranormal series. Yesterday's is an antique shop in Crocker, Indiana and is owned by Anna. This is such a fun series, each book has a glossary at the beginning full of words from yester-year which are spoken by the two resident ghosts of Anna's business. Joss and Bess are linked to the shop from America's past and help solve local mysteries.

In 1859 Lissie Nelson travelled to Crocker to be with her new husband, but Lissie disappeared once the stagecoach reached the town along with her family jewels. When Ellie Nelson visits Anna's shop she warns Anna that she is in danger.

In Crocker everyone is preparing for the Apple Blossom Festival, the local museum is donating a painting and has also sold some vintage dresses to Anna. But suddenly everyone has an interest in the dresses, but when the museum curator is attacked things become very series.

I loved the ghostly characters and the descriptions of different types of ghosts, looking forward to the next book in the series.

Loved this book too. When Anna gets some gowns in from another era she can’t wait to restore them, and sell them. When a women comes to see her, and warns her about something she isn’t sure what to do. But she wants more information. To top it off the women sees one of her resident ghosts, and it freaks her out all due to the fact said ghost is wearing one of the gowns.
Lots of twists and turns.
Must read.

Yesterday's Lost, prequel - Oh my gosh, this book rocks! The intensity, the vivid descriptions, the hurry up and TELL ME what did it!, all these things eats up your patience in this fast paced, suspense filled story. It's almost with bated breath time in some places in this story; it's been a long time since a story affected me like this. Move over Koontz and King, Cheever can write this genre too! The author provides information about the characters and the series, as well as an overview of this story, which I appreciate knowing. 5*

Yesterday's News #1 - Read Yesterday's Lost first, there's a lot of foundation for the series, plus it's an awesome read! There's still the intensity, vivid descriptions and fast pace that makes this book difficult to put down. The characters are interesting, lovable or not, and run the gamut of types. The story line is well thought out and there's the twists and turns that's in every good book. There are so many possibilities where this series can go and I look forward to the rest of the series. The author provides an overview, which I appreciate knowing before I read the book. I've enjoyed all the books I've read by this author and with this series and her Familiar series, she has grown in her writing; and she was good with her Silver Hills series. 5*

Threads of Yesterday #2 - Ms. Cheever is a joy to read and this series is one of my favorites. I don't care too much for ghosts, unless it's a well written story, and with Yesterday, that's what the reader gets. I appreciate that all the characters, alive and dead, are a good blend, fit together well, and are easy to accept. There aren't any stupid folk drama messing up the storylines, but substantial material combining mystery, suspense, intrigue and a touch of romance in the making. I've read quite a few of Ms. Cheever's books and never been disappointed with any, but some are better than others. There's an overview, which I appreciate knowing what a story is about before I read it. Included is also a glossary of colloquialisms used for those who are clueless about the meaning of words used in the past. 5*

In preparation for the annual Apple Blossom Festival, Mindy Holz, curator of the Bickershaw Museum, sells Anna some old dresses that once belonged to Elisabeth "Lissie" Biclershaw. One of Lissie's descendants, Ellie Nelson stops by Yesterday's Antiques to warn Anna that she might be in danger and it is tied to the dresses she received.

Following Ellie Nelson's visit, Pratt senses some added tension in the air that stirs up past memories. Yet, he is still hesitant to discuss his past with Anna.

The next day Vance Bickershaw comes by the shop to tell Anna the dresses were sold by mistake and requests to have them returned. Unfortunately, they are not immediately available, but Anna assures him she will return them the following day.

As Anna is closing the store, Mindy calls and tells her to bring the dresses to the Festival Meeting rather than the museum. Mindy fails to show up for the meeting and Anna learns that she may still be at the museum. When Anna goes to the museum, she discovers that Mindy has been attacked. While Anna is looking at how to help Mindy when the lights go out and the dresses are stolen.

Who attacked Mindy and Anna? What makes the dresses so important? Will Pratt's past catch up with him? Is it good or bad? Where is Joss and will he return?

This is a fascinating story that can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the series. The action is constant and the interactions of the characters, both living and dead, are quite believable. I look forward to many more books in this series.

Keeps the reader guessing

The story started in Yesterday's News continues in this book as everyone suddenly is looking for the jewels that were lost in the 1800's. Character ARCs are growing, and the more I learn about the characters, the better I like them.

Not quite a cozy, but not a police or PI procedural, either, this book takes the reader on a rollercoaster ride of great locations, emotions, and fun. Witty dialogue and great descriptions transport the reader to the scene. I feel like I become a non-speaking character in a different world. Ms. Cheever has created another winner of a series.

I just finished Threads of Yesterday last night, I am so in love with this series. The resident ghosts are a hoot along with Pierce the young autistic boy who can also see the spirits. I can't wait to get book 3. You can't go wrong with this series unless you don't like paranormal books. I rated this with 5 stars. I read this in 2 days. It really is hard to put down once you have started. If I had all of my bills paid I wouldn't hesitate, I read the excerpt for book three and look forward to reading it. I recommend this to anyone who loves a murder mystery slash paranormal series.

This is the first book I have read in this series, even though it is actually the second book for the series. I did not have any difficulty "catching up" with the characters and what had happened, even without reading the first book.
I thought the book was well-written with a really good plot. It kept me guessing throughout. I am not an avid reader of paranormal fiction, but I really liked the way the ghosts fit into the plot of the book. There was the right amount of humor to keep it from being too heavy.
I am impressed with the series and definitely want to read more.

Fun cozy mystery

This installment of the series was funny, and witty. The characters Anna and Pratt were interesting and the case they were involved in was plausible. I really like how the ghosts Bess and Joss added to the ambience of the story. Anna's and Pratt's sleuthing skills were believable. I liked that the main characters never did anything dumb. I recommend this book. Can't wait to find out what the new resident ghost does. I am getting the next book in the series.

I got book 1, yesterday's news, and this one, book 2, to read back to back. I had a lot of fun reading about ms yesterday's spirited, (really "spirited"), friends. These books are a lot of fun to read, and yet manage to have a twisty mystery solved by the end. Intrigue, danger, a supernaturally fine read. Get these, make some cocoa and enjoy!

It's getting hot in here!

I love the progression in the relationship between Anna and Pratt! Can't wait to see it progress! Lot's of loose ends to tie up in the next book so I am starting it right away. Did Bess and Lissie know each other when they were alive? What happened to the Mayor's mansion. Will Pam visit Pratt? I can't wait to read the answers in book 3!

Interesting second book where again a very old crime overshadows the present, ghosts pop up everywhere and a little bit of romance begins to bloom. I liked the first book better but this kept me enthralled until the end too.

Threads of Yesterday

A delightful story. I started this book after finishing a very detailed mystery book that took me a while to finish. This book is easy to read and is not complicated with a lot of characters. I would recommend this book to anyone.

A free digital copy of this book was sent to me by the author for a blog tour in exchange for an honest review

Threads of Yesterday was better and more polished than Yesterday’s News. This book didn’t drag on and unlike the first book, was completely filled with action.

I thought that the mystery in Threads of Yesterday was much more compelling. Yesterday’s News had a more realistic mystery, yes, but the way the book was paced made me lose interest quickly. I feel that Sam Cheever was able to polish her writing skills and plot pacing during the second book, hence my enjoyment.

Nevertheless, I found the conclusion to be a bit of a let down. It ended ambiguously but I wish that we could have been given a straight up answer to who the shrieking ghost was and how Lissie Bickershaw really died. There was just so much build up to the mystery that not knowing the answer was really disappointing.

Threads of Yesterday was much better that Yesterday’s News. If this “much-better-than-the-previous-book” miracle goes on throughout the entire Yesterday’s Mysteries series, then I can’t wait for the next book!

Newlywed Elisabeth Nelson journeyed to Crocker, Indiana alone in 1859 to reunite with her husband. After disembarking from the stagecoach, the new bride was never seen again. Her family's suspicion of her husband continued through the generations without proof.

Present-day: Anna Yesterday was excited when the museum sold her shop some beautiful vintage dresses. But someone wants those dresses and will do anything to get them.

This second installment in the series continues with Anna and Pratt exploring their blossoming relationship. I was happy to see Pratt's back story, and it wasn't what I expected. Joss's disappearance was interesting, and the interplay between Pratt and Bess was fun to watch. I must admit to a giggle at the idea of a character named Morticia, though.

Another fun trip to the antique store in Crocker......
