Forget all those other accidental pregnancy romances you might have read.
Daisy and Carter don't have a one-night stand...because it's thirty minutes in a back room at a wedding reception. And Carter isn't a bad boy baby-daddy...except for the motorcycle, tattoos, and attitude. Daisy doesn't have the typical issues with her pregnancy...if you don't count the morning sickness, food cravings, and occasional horniness. And Carter doesn't hang around all the time, wanting both her and the baby...until he falls in love.
But they definitely don't become a happy family...right away.
Daisy has always been a good girl. She's never done anything wild or spontaneous until she has a little too much to drink at a wedding and has a fling with a sexy stranger. She thought they were careful, but accidents happen. And now she's going to have the baby of a man she barely knows.
Carter is her opposite in every way and completely the wrong man for her. They can still work out a reasonable arrangement regarding the baby. But the more time she spends with him, the less reasonable she feels. And he's acting all possessive and protective, so it gets harder and harder to convince herself that he's just the father of her baby.
Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she teaches English, reads any book she can get her hands on, and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.
She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.
You could be a total coward and selfish ass and not tell him at all. Then later you’d feel guilty about it— you know you would— and you’d have to spring a surprise baby on him, complete with his dark hair and little baby tattoos. Imagine how he’d blow his stack then.
How sad that he had to resort to bribery by ice cream to convince a woman to talk to him.
I swear to you if I had that book here right now I would beat you with it! And I love books! All books! But you have ruined that particular book for me!
He was such a contradiction, an intriguing mix of toughness and sweetness.
My Review:
Complicating was a quick and light read. I adored the main character of Carter, although I felt an extremely strong compulsion to administer a couple of good whacks to the back of Daisy’s uptight and judgmental head with my Kindle. Daisy was rude, abrupt, and dismissive to the sweet and thoughtful Carter. Who would have thought that the motherless biker would have better manners than the church going librarian… but there you have it. Thankfully she came around before she had to be maimed. Seriously! Although, having been raised in a small and inbred rural community, her judgmental behavior did have context. I loved the visual of a rough around the edges biker buying onesies.
I really struggled with this book because of the heroine, Daisy. She puts Carter through the ringer and then expects him to just listen to the ways she wants him to change himself without comment. Yes, she's pregnant and going through a lot, but that doesn't excuse the way she treats Carter.
He's trying his absolute hardest to be there for her and the baby while respecting her wishes, regardless of how he feels for her. And yet she keeps changing her mind and sending him mixed signals. She wants him to change because of how others will perceive him instead of giving her friends and family the opportunity to meet him.
I fully understand his frustrations with her. Love isn't changing people - it's accepting them for who they are. I think Carter deserved somebody that fought for him. He did everything for this relationship and as a reader it led to feeling like they were an unbalanced coupling.
Another spectacularly heart-warming addition to the Preston's Mill series. I'm pretty sure I smiled throughout the entire story!
Carter and Daisy are complete opposites. Or so they would like the world to see them as such. You see, Carter may look the bad boy part, but under that cloak is a huge heart that would do anything to protect Daisy! And Daisy has herself a little wild streak in her :) They complement each other well and they made for and excellent couple in this story. I loved everything about both of them.
So here's the gist for ya ... a reckless one night stand that Carter wouldn't mind a repeat of and Daisy couldn't hide from fast enough ... that's their glue LOL That's what starts it all. So this reckless one-niter goes askew and predictably we have ourselves a pregnancy. And when I say predictably, I do not mean it in a negative tone. It's just a fact LOL So now we have more than just sexual attraction to bring them together and that's where the story flourishes. The sweetness of their journey is ridiculous. It's not farfetched or unrealistic. It was well thought out and unfolded perfectly. I had a really good feeling the entire time thru this story and that's a huge plus (plus a HUGE smile)!
Pregnancy accidents are big disaster in real life but fun in books. These types of storylines are usually light and sweet and I enjoy reading about them. So I was really excited when I was asked to review this one. I knew then I was in for a good treat when I saw the blurb.
This book was a quick, enjoyable read. The characters are all fun to read. I like that Daisy is an independent woman with a kind heart. Carter on the other hand is a sweet, responsible man. I enjoyed reading how their feelings slowly developed for each other. Yes, there was that instant attraction the first night they met but their love for each other was slowly developed in time and that’s one of the things I love about this book.
The only thing I didn’t like on this one was I felt like Daisy is not that considerate to Carter’s feelings. I felt like it was either Carter moves into Preston or nothing at all. I mean, she could have at least shown him that she’s willing to do the same for him if that’s what he wants to. After all, that’s what love is, right? Give and take. Not just I want this, do this and that. It’s about taking each other’s feelings into consideration.
All in all, this was a fine read. Add in a sweet hero, great friends and family and a small town vive and you got yourself a nice afternoon read.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
This is a very well written book that gives you pretty much everything you need in a book like this.
Daisy is aa girl brought up right and has that good girl thing down well, Carter has the bad boy vibe, the motorcycle and the tattoos, but he is a sweetheart just like his all but adopted dog Teddy.
Sometimes though it takes only a moment to bring to people together that would not normally find their way to each other. A moment to find the man that completes you and your life, the man you were meant to find happy ever after wife, even if there are a few bumps along the way.
I was a bit worried here. I'm used to reading co-written books where I only know one of the authors. In this case, I knew both and each with their part gave me the kind of romance I adore! Carter and Daisy are such a cute couple, and there are times you would almost swear they were just a couple of virgins, without an idea of what to do. I honestly think that was part of the appeal for me. Just so cute together, crazy about each other, yet everything seems to come out wrong. All they need is some fine tuning and helped out by a friend or two, and we finally start on the right track. Very enjoyable! I would recommend this five star book to everyone who likes a light hearted romance.
Forget all those other accidental pregnancy romances you might have read.

••••••••••••• REVIEW: 3 stars--COMPLICATING is the third installment in Noelle Adams /Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult PRESTON’S MILL romance series focusing on the town and people of Preston’s Mills. This is Daisy, Preston’s Mill librarian, and Norfolk mechanic Carter Hayes’s story line. COMPLICATING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Daisy and Carter) COMPLICATING follows the building relationship between Preston’s Mill uptight, shy librarian Daisy, and motorcycle riding, tattooed mechanic Carter Hayes. While attending Chris and Heather’s wedding Daisy was challenged by her best friend Chloe to hit on three men throughout the evening, and in doing so Daisy came face to face with the man who would become an integral part of her future. A quickie in the closet with Carter Hayes leads to an unplanned pregnancy, and Daisy is all but willing to go it alone without the help of the child’s father. Carter maybe a little rough looking for the small town of Preston’s Mills but he is a man who is determined to be a part of his child’s life. What ensues is the back and forth, emotional roller coaster as Carter tries to support the mother of his child while said mother does everything to push Carter out of their lives with her fierce need to be totally independent.
COMPLICATING is a story about two people unprepared for the future that is about to change their lives. The heroine’s immature attitude and lack of compassion as it pertained to the father of her child made for many difficult moments throughout the story. For most of the story line Daisy was unwilling to compromise or let go of her preconceived notions and ideas . As hard as Carter tried to be a part of Daisy and his unborn child’s life, he couldn’t quite live up to Daisy or the town’s perception of the perfect father image. And of course, to complicate matters, Carter panics on more than one occasion as the reality of the situation hits too close to home.
The relationship between Daisy and Carter begins as a dare that quickly morphs into a lifelong connection with the impending birth of their son or daughter, and because of the forced situation the emotional ties that would have otherwise developed in a loving relationship were few and far between. Months will pass before any semblance of love or togetherness is permanently offered due to the heroine’s inability to accept what Carter was willing to offer, and even then, the profession of love felt forced and underwhelming. The limited number of $ex scenes are mostly implied.
COMPLICATING was a difficult read for me as I struggled to accept the heroine’s attitude and immature behavior. Carter, as the expectant father, was willing to stand up and do everything he could for the mother of his child but Daisy’s need to be independent of the man with whom she would fall in love, was disconcerting and uncomfortable especially at a time when some men are unwilling to accept responsibility for an unplanned child. This was not a case of rampant feminism but of a woman not willing to look at the bigger picture. Although COMPLICATING is a story of fiction, the heroine’s attitude was unacceptable (for me) under the circumstance, as Carter never gave any indication that he would be an unwilling or unacceptable father, and yet he was quickly judged unsuitable by the people of Preston’s Mill-small town mentality not one of my favorite tropes. As with everything in life, opinions are subjective, and other readers may see a different side to the story line heroine.
Oh, and the cover is completely wrong. Carter is said to be well-built, with unruly dark hair, covered in tattoos; and Daisy is a woman with long red hair. Not quite the image portrayed on the story-book cover.
I haven’t read a lot of Noelle Adams’ books but am an avid Samantha Chase reader, Samantha is great on her own but together they smash the sweet barrier. Complicating is not your normal sweet romance though, this was funny, and gritty. All the makings of a great story.
Daisy is the small town of Preston Mill’s librarian and good girl. She goes to church every Sunday, has 2 very conservative parents and gets put on a dare to chat up guys at a wedding by her not so conservative friend, Chloe. Her quiet nature, and personality make this uncomfortable but a bet is a bet.
Carter is the bad boy biker, with tattoo’s, owns his own mechanic shop and is NOT a citizen of Preston Mills thank goodness, the small town couldn’t handle all that motorcycle noise. He’s the quiet one in the corner at the wedding, and the one Daisy has her sights on. Uncomfortable – yes, but it isn’t long until the flirting turns to laughs, then finding a room to get down and dirty. Looks like good girl Daisy has met her match, that one night stand will forever change her life.
With a broken condom in his hand, and the gorgeous Daisy fleeing out the door, Carter has no way of tracking her down without talking to Chris and Heather, the lovely married couple. Little bit of fast forwarding and he finds Daisy and their catch up is less then spectacular, but Daisy knows she will have to see him again, because she’s now pregnant. Co-parenting in two cities, with hot chemistry it is clear both want and refuses to give into makes life Complicated.
Come on a ride of emotion, laughs, head massages, cravings and a giant Teddy with Daisy and Carter as they work to see this pregnancy through together. One things for sure, Carter may look all big and scary but he really is very sweet with a heart of gold. There might not be demands of marriage, but he will play a part in this baby’s life, but it’s the mammas life he really wants. Headstrong Daisy will push his limits, and want to kill him, but will work towards a relationship that will perfect for their baby.
Complicating If laughter is the music of the soul then the heart conducts the symphony. Adams and Chase once again hit all the right notes. They play to the heart with an outrageously funny and emotionally stunning tale of unconventional love and family. Carter and Daisy fell into lust before they discovered love and got a big surprise along the way. Will one moment of reckless behavior be the best decision these two opposites ever made? Complicating has repeat offender written all over it. One read will never be enough.
More like 1.5, but today I am feeling generous. The only thing I liked was Carter. And I really hated Daisy, she was really irrational, self-centered and kind of silly. Also, the story tends to jump in time in a weird way, missing important stuff and concentrating in things that weren't really interesting. It is every bit the cliché it promises not to be, by the way.
Complicating(Preston's Mill Book 3) by Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams WOW JUST WOW!!! AMAZINGLY WRITTEN. BEST BOOK IN THE SERIES.
Complicating is the third book in the Preston's Mill series and I must say it is thus far the best of all three books. Noelle Adams and Samantha Chase make an incredible writing team. Very powerful. I love their books that they write together.
In Complicating we meet Daisy Phillips and Carter Hayes. Carter and Daisy meet in an unusual way at Chris and Heather's wedding thanks to her best friend Chloe. Then after a little talking and a lot of alcohol they have a quickie in a backroom at the wedding reception. Fast forward a month later and Daisy discovers she is pregnant by a man she barely knows.
Daisy has always been a good girl. Daisy is a librarian. She was raised by conservative parents who along with Daisy attend Church every Sunday. Your typical good girl.
Carter is the opposite of Daisy in every way and completely the wrong man for her. Carter looks mean with the tattoos and motorcycle but you soon discover appearances are truly deceiving. Carter owns a mechanic shop in Norfolk, Virginia and does not live in Preston's Mill.
When they discover they are about to be parents everything changes. Throughout the story we see things develop between Carter and Daisy. I enjoyed reading Daisy and Carter's story and seeing their struggles at parenthood. I loved seeing Carter and Daisy fall in love and deal with that fact.
I found my heart swoon and I just could not put this book down. This book was very amazing and the title was just perfect for this story. Complicating is written with all the emotions that make a good book. I often say if you can laugh, cry and your heart swoon all in one book then it is an AMAZING book and a MUST READ and Complicating is just that. Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams wrote this book amazingly with everything that I feel makes up a great book. I even felt like I could relate to some of the characters. This was a book many readers can relate to. The characters are realistic people with realistic and relatable issues and struggles.
I highly recommend Complicating. I give this 2 thumbs up and five stars. This book is definitely a must read. One of the greatest accidental pregnancies and definitely a great opposites attract book.
Spectacular! Phenomenal! Love, Love, LOVE this writing duo. Noelle Adams and Samantha Chase have done it again with the latest addition to the Preston Mill’s Series, Complicating. OOPS! Carter and Daisy are perfect for each other if you discount the facts that Carter is a “bad boy”, or that he rides motorcycles, and is good looking as homemade panty melting sin!!! Daisy, she is a “good girl”, she always plans EVERYthing out. But, she did not plan to have a one-night stand! Did I mention “oops”, she certainly did not plan for the condom breaking during said one-night stand!!! I LOVED watching these two eventually fall for each other. Both realizing that there was so much more than what each showed on the surface. In my opinion, the Adams/Chase writing duo certainly know how to bring the emotions to the surface of a book. I did not want to put the book down and was sad when I reached the end, because I wanted more to read. I did not want the story to end, it was that great! I was gifted with an ARC of this of this phenomenal book for my honest opinion. Do you love GREAT romance? Then this book is definitely for you. Go ahead, hit that one click button. I do not think you will be disappointed. Thank you for reading my review! Kudos Noelle Adams and Samantha Chase on another phenomenal book! 😊
The perfect summer read that will have you laughing out loud . Daisy takes an easy challenge from a friend at a wedding, to go up and meet three guys. She has always been the good girl. What's the harm of a thirty minute hook up and fun. Other that when the condom breaks, and it will give you a memory of a life time, a baby. Carter, is totally opposite of Daisy, appears to be the bad boy, tattoos and motorcycle. Once Carter finds out about the pregnancy, he does everything he can to help Daisy. They try the lust again, but soon finds out friends is better, or is it?
Loved this story, will keep you turning the pages. Carter is the perfect daddy to be, worry. worry and more worry. Loved how independent Daisy was, but still needs the help from Carter. I highly recommend this story. To voices that I love reading.
This book was the perfect addition to the Preston Mills series!!
I love the different sides that Carter and Daisy bring out in each other. Carter makes Daisy want to be a little more daring, stepping out of her shyness a bit. Daisy brings out this sweet tender side of Carter that you can't help but fall in love with. There were points in this book where I wasn't feeling Daisy at all (I get that she was hormonal, but some of the stuff just irked me a bit) but in the end, it all turned out perfect!!!
This book is just painful. I HATED Daisy. She is so self centered and obnoxious. She doesn't want anything to do with Carter being the baby's father, but just cares about what other people see.
I love, love, loved this book. Samantha and Noelle has done it again. All my emotions were going and I felt that I was watching a movie, the characters were so real.
For such a short story it took me a while to read it. While 3 days doesn't seem all that long it just felt that way to me.
A one night stand and knocked up story always mean there will be some sort of conflict. Whether it be relationship wise, baby wise, or running away from responsibility.
Starting off on a bet of sorts put me off to begin with. Daisy was put to a challenge by her friend Chloe. She needed to go up to 3 men and start up conversation while flirting. Daisy feeling that she needed to prove something did just that. Ending with Carter. An "unkempt" tattooed man that Daisy normally wouldn't have spoke to. That was strike number one for me.
Carter is a kind man but that doesn't stop people from judging him. He has tattoos, a beard, and is a mechanic; meaning he's "dirty". At least that's how I took it. Right from the get go he had stepped up to the plate to do what he wanted/needed to do. He may have had a few setbacks but his heart was always in the right place.
I felt that Daisy didn't truly like Carter like she said she did. She was trying to make him change when the things that mattered most were spot on with him. The town's approval meant more to her than her actual feelings for him did. I also felt that the writing was more towards Daisy's favor as well. As if she was way more important than him or his feelings; that she was right to feel the way she did but he was wrong about his own feelings. I understand that she's pregnant and hormonal but what about everyone else??
She is ultimately a good girl and he's rough around the edges. I just didn't like Daisy. Plain and simple. She is a pain in the ass. I did however love Carter. He was kind and genuine and felt the need to do what is right even if it hurt him. He was in it to win it and she just wanted everything to be given to her. She wouldn't meet him half way and that's a crappy way to live life with someone who only wants what's best for his future family.
Maybe it was the fact that there are two authors working together that I didn't enjoy this read as I have other Samantha books. The writing doesn't mesh well to me. It seems to be two different writing styles that don't compliment each other perfectly and that is crazy important to me. While this is my personal opinion of this book it might not be yours! I'm hoping this doesn't deter you from reading because you just might enjoy what I really didn't.
*I received an ARC from one of the author's in exchange for an honest review*
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This story is adorable to me. I love it that opposites attract and the characters of Daisy and Carter, despite their personality difference found compromise in the love they have for each other. Thanks for writing this one too! I truly enjoyed reading it.
Complicating was a cute read. I love both authors, their books are always fun, and this was a perfect summer read.
Daisy is a good girl. She lives in a small town where everyone knows everyone and she never does anything crazy. She wouldn't want the people in town to talk or be disappointed in her. Only she doesn't plan on Carter.
Carter is a tattooed biker who seems to be the exact opposite of Daisy. He looks rough and tough and doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. He is who he is and that is that.
When Carter and Daisy first meet at a friends wedding neither expected anything to happen. Carter noticed her right away, and Daisy noticed him, but without the help of Daisy's friend daring her to chat up guys, including Carter, they probably never would have met. They never would have sat and talked forever and connected. And Daisy definitely wouldn't have had a fling in the back room! Once she realized what she had done she doesn't stick around. She doesn't even really know who Carter is!
Now Daisy actually likes Carter. Like there could have been something there, but of course things don't turn out the way she had planned. Or didn't plan. Or whatever. She ends up pregnant! Which...she was not prepared for, but she is happy to be having a baby even if it is not the conventional way, after she is married with someone she loves.
Carter really liked Daisy. She rushed out on him so fast he couldn't get her info, but afterward, he finds himself at his friends place trying to subtly get information out of him. He wants to find her and see if maybe they do have something there. Only when he runs into her she acts like it is the worst thing ever and that she wants nothing to do with him. I loved Carter. He is who he is, he is super sweet and kind and he was the best. As soon as he found out Daisy was pregnant he wanted to be there for her and the baby...only Daisy doesn't want him there. Or she does, but she doesn't want him to feel like now he is stuck with her. Oh, these two. They were so cute together. Carter is wonderful, doing whatever Daisy will let him and even some that she won't. He just wants to help her and make things easier on her. And through it all they grow closer and closer. It was so cute! I loved them.
Of course they have their ups and downs. Daisy doesn't know what the town will think of Carter much less her parents. And would he consider moving to her small town? To be closer to their child? And maybe her? Can he change enough to fit in? Does she want him to? Oh, Daisy had a lot of things to work through, her heart might be in the right place but she doesn't always go about things the right way. And Carter doesn't always react the way he should or she would like him to. From misunderstandings to feelings getting hurt it wasn't easy to make it to happily ever after. Especially not with a baby on the way, but they were adorable and I loved them both. Another great read from these authors.

A light-hearted opposites attract, one night stand turned pregnancy romance in a small town!
Complicating is a light-hearted opposites attract, one night stand turned pregnancy romance between two strangers in a small town. While the plot of the book was a little bit predictable, it is well written, fairly light hearted, easy to read and the enjoyable kind of book that will put a smile on your face after the epilogue and HEA.
Told from dual points of view, the two main characters, Daisy and Carter, are both very likeable characters who have an instant connection, despite being opposites, which leads to things heating up quickly in a one night stand. Faced with an unexpected pregnancy, these two strangers struggle to ignore their chemistry while also trying to intertwine their opposite ways together; Daisy is a good girl who likes to fit into society’s expectations, while Carter is a little more rough around the edges but with a heart of gold. There is an underlying tension throughout as they get to know each other and some drama that crops up as the story pans out but the steady pace of the book allows for the characters’ relationship to develop in a believable way (although if I’m honest, at times, there are moments of frustration with both characters with their contradictory actions and emotions but overall, Daisy and Carter easy to root for as a reader). For those who have read the previous book in the series, it’s nice to catch up with familiar characters.
Overall, if you are looking for a light hearted, easy to read, standalone baby romance, definitely give this book a read!
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
So, here's the thing about this book. I did not like the heroine! Like, at all! Daisy may be shy and introverted but she's also a stuck up prig who thought Carter was good enough to get her freak on with at the wedding of mutual friends, but then spent the rest of the book trying to change or hide him. And on the other side of the spectrum is Carter. He's a mechanic, so he's got grease under his nails, he's got tats and from the story, he's a little unkept and evidently muscle-y. Um, not a match to the cover At All! And while that usually doesn't bother me...if someone has blue eyes instead of brown, the dog breed isn't the same, etc...it was weird in this case. Cover boy looks more like what Daisy WANTS Carter to look like, not the way he's written. Carter is by no means flawless; he does cut and run a few times. But it seemed to me he was trying to make a tense situation better. He's willing to put up with Daisy's attitude and is just trying to be a dad to his unborn child. I really admired that. I'll admit, by the end of the book, I didn't want to hurt Daisy, as much. But while I begrudgingly thawed my own attitude about her a bit, i still cannot say I liked her. She's not someone I could ever envision myself being friends with. And maybe that's where the problem comes from. When I read a really good book and love the characters, the become friends to me. That part was missing in Complicating. I did read the first two books and enjoyed them, but this fell flat for me. I love both Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams and have read most and loved their solo reads. I'm chalking this one up to a difference of opinion.
I read and reviewed this book after receiving an ARC...all opinions are my own.
Complicating is written by two best-selling authors, Noelle Adams and Samantha Chase. I am a fan of both writers and I was pleased to have the opportunity to read their most recent collaboration. This is the third book from their Preston's Mill series, and it can be enjoyed as a standalone.
Daisy and Carter are attending a mutual friends wedding, where they find each other incredibly attractive while eyeing each other from across the room. Due to a dare from Daisy's best friend Chloe, Daisy makes the first move. As a result, they find a small private space and spend the next thirty minutes experiencing the best sex of their lives. About a month later, Daisy finds out she is pregnant and goes about sharing the news with her one night stand. Daisy is a small town librarian that prefers the simple life. Carter owns his own motorcycle repair shop in the city, and enjoys the fast pace that Norfolk has to offer. Now Daisy and Carter have to work together to figure out what is best for them and the baby that will soon dominate their lives.
This is not your usual accidental pregnancy story. Daisy and Carter are extremely genuine characters and their hang-ups about themselves, having a baby, and life in general, are quite identifiable. Both are naive and immature when it comes to handling situations, which makes sense since they are struggling with so many new things. Oddly, this book felt more like a life lesson then an entertaining read. The ending pulled the plot together nicely and left me smiling.
What can a quick 30 minute hookup at a wedding hurt? Acknowledge the chemistry & never see each other again, right? Unless you are one of the unlucky with a condom that breaks & end up pregnant. Daisy tries so hard to be what everyone excepts her to be. She's so uptight that her friend teases her to flirt with three guys at a wedding to make her feel more comfortable. Guy 1 & 2 go fine so Daisy is feeling more confident when Chloe points out the third guy. What's Daisy to do now?
Carter is getting a kick out of watching two girls at his buddy's wedding. Obviously there is a bet because the one is coming on to different guys. He can't wait to see who she approaches next. When Daisy approaches him, the attraction takes them both by surprise. After the wedding, Carter attempts to find Daisy & finds out that she's pregnant. Is he going to be a jerk about it? Can they work on the chemistry & have a relationship develop from it?
I really enjoyed Daisy & Carter's characters. Carter has a tender heart that Daisy unknowingly tramples on time & time again when she's trying to absolve him of responsibility. Daisy lacks confidence but mainly because she's trying to do what others expect of her, not what she wants. If anything, it's easy to get upset with Daisy & her attitude toward Carter, his motorcycle, tattoos & muscles. She's more worried of society than what's in his heart. The interactions between them are intense & emotional. Good addition to the series!
A one-night stand is just that… one night and then it is goodbye… except when complications arise! This is the theme of Samantha Chase’s newest addition to the Preston Mills series.
Daisy is the consummate “girl next door”…the sweet girl that everybody loves and who never does anything wild and crazy. Carter is a motorcycle riding, tattooed mechanic who sees Daisy at a wedding reception and is captivated by her red hair and her bright smile.
Daisy’s friends challenge her to meet three different guys at the reception and she zeroes in on Carter who has been eyeing her all evening. There is an instant chemistry and they end up in the back room at the venue. Once Daisy realizes what she has done, she makes a quick escape without even knowing Carter’s name!
A month later that the one-night stand just got a bit more complicated… she is pregnant. The dynamics between Carter and Daisy were fun to watch… Daisy is all prepared to raise the child on her own and Carter wants to do what is right but is not sure how. Can they overcome the obvious obstacles… living in different towns, leading opposite lifestyles, getting past the stigma of the good girl gone bad, etc.?
I like Samantha’s style of writing and this book is no exception. Her romances are sweet but spicy and I hope there are more books to come in this series. I was gifted an ARC of this book and the above is my honest review.
Well let me start by saying that when these two ladies write together they can do no wrong in my eyes!! I adored this book and could not put it down! Carter & Daisy's love story, while somewhat unconventional, is probably one of the sweetest I've read in a while. From the way they meet, to the surprise that comes from their hot tryst in a back room at a wedding, to the relationship they try to have; these two are perfect for each other if they can just get out of their own way for a minute so they can both see it. So much miscommunication and misunderstanding makes what should be one of the best times in their lives very, very complicated. Carter, who from his outward appearance looks like a bad boy, is actually far from it and is hands down one of the most caring, sweetest and swoon-worthy heroes I've read in a long while. Daisy is such an innocent young woman that she almost screws up the best thing that could ever happen to her and the baby because she is afraid other people won't see past the outer layer of Carter to know how amazing he is. This turns out to be one of the biggest complications but luckily with some help from friends, all works out as it should. The epilogue was amazing and is now on my list of top 5 favorite epilogues EVER!!!! 5 wonderful stars for the 3rd book in the Preston Mills series!!!
Complicating is the story of Daisy and Carter, their one-night stand, and subsequent result of it...a pregnancy. Daisy and Carter are two people who are independent, sweet, and total opposites, ones a small town librarian and the other is a tattooed biker who owns a repair shop. What happens after finding their selves expecting is the beginning of a complicated relationship. I adored Carter. I thought he was a stand up guy who really wanted to do the right thing. He was interested in Daisy before finding out they were expecting and he just wanted to be in his child's life. He just wanted to be himself and not change who he was. Daisy was a little hard to connect with. Although I loved how independent she was, she took it a little too far at times. I did contribute a lot of it to her pregnancy, hormones, and having to actually build a relationship with Carter. She was beloved by her small town and hated to disappoint everyone. I thought this small town novel was sweet and frustrating at times, but ultimately a fun book. Complicating is a complete standalone novel and the previous two books are not required to be read before this one. If you love accidental pregnancy stories, then Complicating is the perfect book for you.
I have to say I fell in love with Carter immediately. While my love for Carter was true and constant, I waivered a lot with Daisy. I felt she put too much into how others perceived Carter. Granted, I’ve not been in her situation, being the all-around sweet and innocent, people-pleasing, small town girl, but it still bothered me that she put more emphasis on what her parents and the town would think about Carter than how she felt. Praise to Carter for sticking by her, no matter what. They were definitely complete opposites, but at the same time, complimented each other perfectly. Carter’s dedication and desire to be involved in every aspect was so heart-warming and genuine. A little crazy and over-the-top protective at times, but I loved every minute of it.
I thought this was extremely well-written with the words from two authors flowing seamlessly - a perfect writing pair. I also loved the pacing of the story. They were strangers at the wedding, and just because now there is a pregnancy, there wasn’t a forced instant and perfect love. They had road-bumps, detours, silly and fun moments, serious and stressful moments, which all led to building a wonderful, long-lasting, full of love, forever relationship.
I just love books that make you laugh out loud and this one does that.
On a bet at a wedding Daisy sucks up her courage and wins the bet but taking it an unplanned totally unlike herself move with Carter. A guy she has just met. Based on that move Carter and herself will have a permanant connection.
I highly applaud Daisy for doing the right thing and letting Carter know. Carter is the man dreams are made of. He fully supports Daisy and steps back and accepts whatever relationship/non relationship that she wants. In fact, I think at times she tramples all over poor man.
Carter and Daisy are completely opposites. She has become an image people want her to be (town good girl) and Carter is biker dude at his best. She attempts to change Carter and kudos to him for realizing it and not changing who he is. Once I found out why Daisy is attempting to change him my heart melted.
These two are both working hard for whatever is best for their baby. Though all along there is the underlying sizzle of sexual attraction. They try to ignore that attraction and try the friendship route. They have to decide if they will settle for that our let go of caution to see if they can build a future together as a family.
This is a wonderful feel good story that I really enjoyed reading.
The Preston's Mill Series is such a BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING, POIGNANT and EMOTIONAL series and this book perfectly exemplifys these traits and goes above and beyond in the telling of Carter and Daisy's story the 3rd book in this FANTASTIC Series!! The storytelling was so beautifully done it truly makes you believe you are going through everything right alongside Carter and Daisy. Carter and Daisy meet in an unconventional way at Chris and Heather's wedding one thing leads to another and Daisy becomes pregnant. Carter and Daisy barely know each other and now they are bringing a little person into the world. We are taken on a beautiful, emotional, rollercoaster ride as Carter and Daisy try to figure out just what they're going to be to each other besides coparents. This story was really well written and I love how we get to see it from both sides and I loved how the town was involved. I would highly recommend this book as these authors Ms. Adams and Ms. Chase simply blow your mind with the beauty of their writing and how relatable the characters are. Every book just gets better and better. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Complicating (Preston’s Mill Book 3) by Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams is the perfectly wonderful story of Daisy and Carter that you can’t (and won’t want to) put down and you will never get enough of!!
Daisy is the small-town good girl that has been raised by strict, wholesome parents. She is the town librarian, attends church, and is super sweet to everyone. Carter is the “bad-boy” from the city. He owns his own mechanic shop, has tattoos, drives a motorcycle, and is most comfortable in jeans and t-shirts. They meet on a dare at the wedding of Heather and Chris. Over the course of the night, things heat up between the two of them. One thing leads to another and they end up in a back room together.
Two worlds collide when Daisy finds out she is pregnant from that chance encounter. She does the right thing by tracking down Carter and telling him about the baby. This is where the true story begins! The relationship has ups and downs, it’s hot and cold, miscommunication and hurt feelings but in the end, they want each other and they want to raise their child. The ending is stunning and so picture-perfect! Swoon-worthy for sure!
