Anais Heart and Kyle Gray agree that their blind date is a bust. His eyes are ice cold. He speaks in grunts and he's covered in tattoos. Convinced he's a criminal, Anais never wants to see him again. And she's...well, she's hot, but she's far too superficial as far as Kyle is concerned. Besides, he just started a business in a new town--he doesn't have time for women.

But it's hard to avoid people in a small town. The two keep running into each other. Pretty soon the chemistry between Anais and Kyle explodes into a passion that she wants to ignore and that he finds undeniable.

Anais is a conservative owner of a small beauty business in a very small town. Kyle is tattooed, intense, and totally unexpected blind date setup. She finds him hot, but definitely not her idea of boyfriend material. Their chemistry says different.

The Good:
1. Kyle makes my book boyfriend list for sure. He is a patient, and caring alpha hero.

2. Standalone, can't complain about that.

3. I love that it was an interracial romance that acknowledged differences without it becoming a big part of the story.

4. Steamy but did a good job of also keeping the relationship believable.

The Bad:
1. Anais' wishy-washyness became very tiring at times.

Final Thoughts:
This was a cute read. Honestly closer to 3 1/2 stars, and my subgenre love might have helped me round up. This would be a good choice for those sick of IR featuring billionaires.

Ok so it seems I'm the only one who thinks this h is a judgmental b*tch!.
She thinks the H is a serial killer just because he has tattoos and a buzz cut? And apparently she didn't like him because he was white.

 photo image_zpsviqp1s0u.gif

“Nicole, did you not notice that he was covered in tattoos, has the eyes of a serial killer, and hands that could snap a woman’s neck without trying?” She closed her door behind her. “And he’s white. What were you thinking?” They lived in a small town. She could count on one hand the number of interracial couples in town and have fingers to spare. There was just the black guy married to the woman he’d met in the Philippines and the white guy married to the woman who’d moved to town from Venezuela”

And she gets jealous because a woman pays attention to the H but she still doesn't want him. 😒😒

“Anais, why are you so afraid of me? You know I’m not a serial killer, right?”
Her eyes widened. “They told you I said that?” she squeaked.
Kyle hid his smile. “How can I make you’re more comfortable?”
She muttered under her breath for a moment before returning her attention to him. “Kyle, I don’t think you’re a serial killer.”
“But you’re still scared of me. Why?”
“Can I be brutally honest with you?” At his sharp nod, she continued. “You fit the profile. You’re a single white guy. How old are you?”
     “Thirty-two.”
“You’re the right age. And your eyes are downright creepy.”
He blinked. He’d received compliments on his eyes his entire life. And she thought they were creepy? “What? I-” He shook his head and ran a hand over his hair. “What? I mean, I…what?”
Before he could wrap his mind around that, she asked, “Do you get along with your mother?”
He hesitated for a fraction of a second. Evidently, that was too long in Anais’s estimation. She slapped her hand down on the lock of her door and began rolling up her window.

Oh Lord, I WANTED TO SLAP HER SO BAD.

What I absolutely loved about this book is that when Anais first meets Kyle, she does not swoon in immediate desire or even find him particularly attractive. As a matter of fact, even though he was handsome, he was a big white guy with a lot of tattoos and cold grey eyes. She started making up serial killer scenarios in her head. She did not want to be alone with this guy -- sure that she'd end up the evening chained in a basement somewhere. So to say their first date, set up by mutual friends, was awkward would be an understatement. They agreed it was bad an they would not work out.

So I enjoyed her discovering that her vivid imagination was just that... a little too vivid. And she she got to know him she realize that he was a lot nicer than she initially gave him credit for.

Another thing I loved is that neither Kyle nor Anais are rich, just working class folks in a small town. He's a mechanic and she is a small business owner. Which automatically is worth an additional star in my rating.

This was a good read, very sexy and nicely romantic. I enjoyed this.

Initially, the heroine is caught up in the hero's appearance because of his visible tattoos. It took me a while to warm up to her because she is quite rude to him -- frequently! He hung in there when most men would have moved on without hesitation. As the heroine even said ...

She’d spent most of the weekend in a self-flagellating mood. "If a man had treated her the way she’d treated Kyle, she would have wanted to flay him alive."

This speaks volumes. Still, an enjoyable story though the heroine took longer than I'd prefer to be more accepting of the hero who never gave her any reasons for concern.

Nice Read

Good book, nice and sweet story. Anais & Kyle had pretty sweet courtship and romance. Even though Anais was a bit judgemental at times. Judging Kyle before she knew anything about him, but,in the end it work.

The heart wants what’s it wants.
Kyle and Anais went on a blind date that was a disaster. But after running into each other in their small town, they had a better opportunity to learn about each other and reluctantly develop feelings for each other. This is an amusing romance about not making snap judgements about people and overlooking preconceived societal notions about others.

A cute and simple story about a small town woman and business owner falling for a guy, who on the surface, appeared harder than his gooey insides. Kyle was sweet and had edge when necessary, was a literal Superman to Anais' judgemental flightiness. There were some grammatical errors here and there, the dialogue between characters could be stiff and elementary at times, but there's just enough chemistry between Kyle and Anais to keep your attention.

Foolishness

My God this book was borin and dumb. There was no conflict, and whenever a little conflict come up, it quickly went away. Anais' judgement of kyle looking like a serial killer was weird and forced, plus kyles quick attraction to her was such BS and also felt forced. They hardly knew each other and they were engaged at the end, and having a baby. He busted in this chick after barely knowing her and was excited at the thought of her having his kid. It was so strange, also this girl couldn't take some damn plan b the next day? And am I supposed to be happy for them in regards to this proposal and pregnancy when they're still practically strangers? It wouldn't even have been so bad if they did anything other than constantly bang each other's brains out. Seriously, all they did was screw, and there were far too many sex scenes. I know it's an erotica romance, but I needed more convo between these two. Plus they started screwing far too early, dude was making a move on her the first time they were alone in her home after she told him she was frightened by his looks. It felt sorta rapey.

Also, the passage of time in this book is confusing because it's only been a couple weeks, and she's already knocked up? Not enough time went by. At least have a scene with her feeling sick or something, the author couldn't even add that. Just lazy ass writing.

Also also, the grocery store scene was just ridiculous. It was so unrealistic, and it felt like something out of a sitcom. Seriously, who would kiss someone just because a drunken stranger asked you to to prove a point? You're grown, just tell him to fuck off and go on about your business. Man that part pissed me off, I had to skim some of it. Hell I had to skim a lot of this book.

AND WHAT THE HELL WAS THE POINT OF LINCOLN???!!?!

Man this book was a waste of time, it seems like all kindle unlimited books are. I DON'T RECOMMEND.

I remember reading the blurb and thinking this was going to be a great read. A man who grunts and us covered in tattoos are excellent indicators of a great read. Before reading I read some reviews and one said that the writing was mediocre and I'm sorry but I have to agree. This story had the potential to be a deep read with a lovable heroine and an alpha male. This is no for me. I don't think the male character grunted once, he was chatty as heck. Nice concept, but lack luster delivery.

Okay, I must admit that I love Thayer King’s writing!! I love how she writes these interracial relationships.

It was well written. I truly enjoyed the growth of Kyle and Anais’s relationship. I’m glad Anais FINALLY gave up the ghost and decided that she truly loves him and saw past his tattoos and “creepy eyes” and serial killer look and chose to let that all go to be with him because they are SO perfect together. BTW, he’s not creepy. If he was a live version, I would definitely want to see what he looks like!!! Wow 😲!!

I didn’t hesitate to notice that as a white man, he was prejudiced against because of his appearance. Even by black people!!!

I seriously love reading these interracial relationship love stories, especially this one, because growing up as a mixed chick (Jamaican and Irish/Scottish), I was always pushed to go out with my own race (if you know some African American history, you’ll know that even having 1 drop of Black blood makes you black...I know 🙄)...so when Lincoln told Anais and Kyle that they would be a pariah due to their interracial love, it resonated with me....but that a whole other kettle of fish that I don’t have time to delve into.

Anyhoo, fantastic story. Thayer King rocks. I can’t wait to read more of her stories. Peace ✌️

Don't judge a book by it's cover, that's what Anais does when she meets Kyle. Anais believes Kyle is fine but possibly a serial killer due to his many tattooes and cold eyes. Turns out for Anais, Kyle is one of the sweetest and thoughtful man she's ever met. Next misconseption by Anais, Kyle doesn't want to get married or have kids. Turns out that's all Kyle wants in a relationship. That's pretty much the gist of this story, Anais making false theories about a guy because how he looks and her false perception of him. It seems like the author was making a point with this story. Kyle was everything that Anais wanted in a man but was hesistant because the package he came in. Both characters learn that if they would have taken the time to just say what they wanted in the beginning they wouldn't have waisted so much time trying to figure out how the other person actually felt. This story could have been a little longer and didn't take so long for both characters to properly communicate but overall it was a good story with some comedic elements.

Anais and Kyle are both tired of the dating scene and the both of them are looking to settle down. That's why friends and family thought they would be perfect for each other. One look and Kyle is convinced they're right, to bad Anais doesn't feel the same. After spending time together, will these two make a love connection or will they connect as friends only.
Anais did the one thing that most of us do but are usually unwilling to admit, make quick assumptions about a person based on their outside appearances. I understand that you have to be careful but there were points when I almost gave up hope for theses two because she was really starting to wear on my nerves. Kyle, thought no your run of the mill clean cut guy, proved his trustworthyness from the beginning, but she just wouldn't give the guy a chance. In the end she saw past her hang ups and found herself a true diamond in the rough. Overall this was a sweet passionate read read with bits of family drama that made for a pretty good read. I give 4 stars.

Thayer King books are always over the top. They are packed with cliches and are pretty predictable. I can usually overlook these things if the story is fun. After all, I loved The Arrangement even though it was full of things I typically hate.

Unfortunately, this was a dud. The only part I liked was Kyle and Anais having a serious conversation about her reasons for thinking he was a serial killer, lol.

This book couldn't decide whether it wanted to be boring (whole chapters full of mundane details about their jobs, his many exs, their many talks with Nicole and Stuart) or ridiculous (kissing to prove to a hobo that they were a couple, Kyle wanting a relationship then hooking up with Anais-aka the only woman in town who didn't treat him like he was Bruce Wayne, the fire, Belinda).

Towards the end it settled on both (his executive decision on condoms, her insane family)

So glad this was a borrow.

Not bad.

The characters actually became real people instead of the good ole regular "Girl who doesn't know she's beautiful until she's told" meets "Guy who really really needs to get with her."

Instead, here we have two people with a genuine attraction to each other, with realistic issues and realistic communication problems and realistic backstories (no serial killer billionaires or undercover princes). Sometimes all you really need is a normal regular dude.

There were certain moments where I thought the hero could have used a bit more of an edge to him, but I might just be too accustomed to these jacked ruthless ruffian billionaires who solve problems with their fists...

Regular guy who happens to have a ton of tattoos but isn't necessarily an alpha badass works for me, actually...

Okay, so the first time I tried to read this book I was highly annoyed with the heroin Anais. She was judgmental to the fifth power of Kyle. She was caught up on his appearance, because at first glance Kyle looked like the tatted up bad boy your mother warned you about. But by the second go-round I loved it! Slowly but surely she came around to Kyles caring attentions and patience. And she learns that appearances can be deceiving. Because goodness knows she put him through the ringer and he should have dropped her like a hot potato. But situations kept bringing them back together. With all the mixed signals going around I'm still surprised these two were able to form a relationship. Kyle was everything she was looking for and Anais fit him like a missing puzzle piece. I enjoyed it and it definitely is with the read!

🥰🥰🥰

This was a sweet spicy slow burn! But the spice was spicyyyyy🥵🌶️🥵 Analis and Kyle could’ve been more better for each other, a match made to perfection. Kyle is such a gentleman he’s charismatic, kind, thoughtful and loving and he showed Analise how special she was to him. Analise is such a sweetheart sooo loving and loves Kyle just as she should. She deserved all the happier heart desires and you can bet on Kyle will make every moment worth loving. Those two had be swooning for so long 🤭😩😂 Never judge a book by its cover might miss out on a good thing! Those two was right on time!❤️❤️

Nice story but mediocre writing

This story came across as lazy writing- it did not meet my expectations of Ms King and I have purchased a few of her books. The concept and plot of the story were promising but the actually story was all over the place - some characters were unnecessary and didn't add much to the story - the character development was lacking and it was predictable. The love scenes were ok but the book left a lot to be desired. I gave it a 2 because I found it disappointing.

A cute read

This was your classic don't judge a book by its cover. Anais was put off by Kyle's look even though she was attracted to him. A few run ins and actual talking lead her to acting on that attraction but still thinking he couldn't be serious. Kyle knew what he wanted and stuck near Anais hoping to change her mind. There were a few sex scenes and even though they explored each other physically before emotionally, I don't think the scenes overwhelmed the love story happening.

Good Stuff

When you get a good story that's coupled with good romance its just a win all around. This was such a well written story of two people attracted to one another and somewhat afraid to take the leap. The writer does an excellent job of drawing you into the story ,that you want to stick with it till the end.I also like the fact that we got two adults who didn't mind speaking their minds and telling you where to get off. This was good solid reading and fun entertainment.

First timer

This is my first read by this author. And Anais almost made it my last, lol. I can totally understand being turned off by someone with a lot of tattoos (why did he have so many?!), but she was being super judgemental. How big was that town, anyway? It just felt like she was doing a whole lot. Once all that was out of the way, I liked her. And Kyle.

Good storyline with likable characters. I will be sure to check out more books by this author.

Boring

Found my self skipping through at around 75% it really could have ended there because it was just predictable and boring. Also heroine is not relatable and unnecessarily difficult. Supporting characters were one note and conveniently extra bad and hard to believe. Adult scenes creative and well thought out just wish the character development was there. Not one I'd reread.

I love Thayer and I always look for her books. I really loved this story. Anais the heroine is set up on a blind date by her best friend and her boyfriend, she immediately judges her date Kyle by the cover as he is heavily tattooed and has got a buzz cut, Anais lives in a small town and Kyle is unusual looking, to say the least she soon changes her mind after running into Kyle in town time and again and seeing how nice and kind he is. Their road to true is a bit rocky but ever so much fun.

I Want True Love

I enjoyed this story. It's funny how you have your mind set in a type of man and the opposite man is the one.

This is a story about two different people that fell in love. Both come from a family where there mothers never showed love.

The H was a true alpha male and the h was a sweet woman who wanted true love.

The only negative thing I would say, is I didn't like the ending.
