When Callie Anders wakes up in her best friend's bed with a hangover that makes her feel like she's been hit by a truck—well, it's because she has been hit by a truck. And turned into a shape-shifting wolf with a raging lust to jump her gorgeous best friend Sam, the werewolf who bit her. Happy twenty-first birthday.
Sam MacTire couldn't just leave Callie to die in the road, and there was no time to wait for an ambulance. No time to do anything but what he make her a shifter like himself. There would be no more need to hide from her. He's always loved her, and now…
An irresistible bond has things heating up between them, fast. But outside their private world, all signs point to a setup. Someone wanted Sam to break the sacred laws of the shifter clan and face the horrific consequences. Unless he can convince Callie to testify on his behalf—convince her that he hasn't betrayed her, lied to her their whole lives—there's a very good chance that Sam may never see his newfound mate again.

Sionna Fox is an author of sweet/hot HEAs, die-hard romance fan, and lover of things nerdy and twee. She drinks too much coffee, has a minor issue with washi tape and planner stickers, and tagging her in anything involving llamas, foxes, or women in suits is a surefire way to her heart. She lives in New Hampshire with her very patient husband and very put-upon dog.

Best story of the anthology, hands down! I LOVED this one. I'll probably reread it... multiple times. There was a fair mix of pack politics, romance, friendship drama, and suspenseful villains. I really don't want to say too much and give it away, but this story right here makes the entire anthology worth it. The love between these two MC's is so pure it melts my frozen heart.
If this were ever turned into a full length novel, it would be an insta-buy for me. Sionna Fox is definitely on my radar now and I can't wait to see what else she brings! You should definitely read this one!!

I have to say, I thought this was a perfectly fine short little interlude of a read. Nothing overly angsty, nothing overly drawn out. A novella that was sexy, interesting, and just what I needed for a short reading span.
While on one hand, I always find it difficult to believe the friends to lovers tropes where they have been best friends forever and never realized they were in love with each other, I also love reading those tropes. I can't imagine being as close as they say they are and not seeing the signs. Yet that butterfly excitement of the truth coming out is sexy as hell so I read and enjoy them anyways.
The shifting aspect was appropriately magical, and the overarching pack politics were well simplified and contained to accommodate this novella's short length. Just a taste, but it was just enough. ~George 3 Stars

An ok shifter story, there wasn't really anything new in the trope, and maybe thats why I think it dragged a bit for me. The writing style was good, but it just didn't make me want to keep reading like the first story. I put it down until I had nothing else nearby to read. I have given the anthology an overall score of 4 stars but this was mainly due to my enjoyment of the first book.
This was a quick read, but packed with compelling characters and a fast moving plot. The romance blooms from page one and doesn't stop. Lots of hot scenes mixed in with action and a believable love story. Sionna Fox is a new author on my MUST READ list!
Reading Hazelwood’s Bride made me want to revisit this novella and I realized I read it so long ago I didn’t remember what happened. The spicy scenes are excellent, and the characters feel so authentic. I love a good HEA with some paranormal touches.
Congrats to my fellow NECRWA chaptermate Sionna Fox on the publication of her first romance novella! This shifter story isn't my feminist cup of tea (lots of rescuing of the girl by the shifter guy), but for those who love the friends to lovers trope and who don't get annoyed by secrets that should have been told rather than kept, Fox writes with clarity and verve.
