Something Beautiful is a short collection of poems, anecdotes and reflections on family, faith and friendship. Written across a period of twelve years in the midst of busy motherhood, ministry and ultimately chronic illness, readers will be encouraged as they share in the challenges and joys of life experienced in relationship with God and each another. Something Beautiful is available permafree at https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...
I am the author of two books, Pickled Poems, an anthology of nonsense verse for children, and Something Beautiful, a volume of poems and reflections for adults. The publication of these books has been most unexpected, as chronic illness has created great limitations on my life. I consider my books to be a gift to myself, and hopefully to my readers. It is one of my greatest wishes that readers young and old be able to enjoy and share my poems and writings.
I never in my wildest imaginings expected to publish this little book, and if it weren't for my friend Cindy, it wouldn’t exist. I wrote the pieces in this book over many years, and eventually shared a number of them with Cindy. She was the first person to ever read many of these writings, and sharing them with her strengthened our bonds of friendship. Unfortunately, Cindy passed away last year, leaving a deep gaping hole in my life. The decision to publish came last month when I realised that Cindy's birthday was approaching. With the date looming, I felt a burning need to do something to honour and remember her. I couldn’t think of a better way to do so than to share something that was precious between us. Something Beautiful reflects some of the moments and experiences in life that we shared together - faith, parenting, friendship and family. I pray that readers are blessed, as Cindy and I were, by these poems and anecdotes.
