When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.
I’m on the FBI’s wanted list.
I have a werewolf for a pet, a Witch of a best friend, and have no need for anyone else in my life.
But when a salvage starts to spin out of control, help comes from a most unexpected direction. One that is dangerously dark, brooding, and doesn’t know a thing about the supernatural.
One whose kisses set me on fire.
IMMUNE (#2) “My name is Rylee, and I am a Tracker.”
When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.
Underestimating demons is a bad idea, and it’s a mistake that may cost me not only my own life, but the life of a missing child.
If I can swallow my pride, and allow Agent O’Shea to help me find a way to deal with the demon, we might be able to save the child.
With this salvage, it’s a race against time, a test of trust, and a temptation that I'm doing my damnedest to ignore.
When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.
The FBI wants me on their team. Bad enough that they are dangling bait they KNOW I can’t resist.
The catch? It’s on the other side of the ocean.
And if I want what they’re offering, I have to help them with a salvage gone terribly, terribly wrong.
But this time, I have no back up. I have no Plan B.
And I have no O’Shea.
“If you love the early Anita Blake novels by Laurel K. Hamilton, you will fall head over heels for The Rylee Adamson Series. Rylee is a complex character with a tough, kick-ass exterior, a sassy temperament and morals which she never deviates from. She’s the ultimate heroine. Mayer’s books rank right up there with Kim Harrison’s, Patricia Brigg’s, and Ilona Andrew’s. " Just My Opinions Book Blog
A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I was born into a family of Star Wars nuts. I have a lot of siblings (somewhere I lost count but I think there was more than could be numbered on one hand) and being one of the young padawans I was subjected to Star Wars marathons, on a regular basis. If you've read any of my books you'll see there is often a reference to said movies as a small homage to my upbringing. May the force be with you and all that jazz.
I started writing when I realized I didn't want to grow up not believing in magic, or not believing in creatures everyone else said didn't exist. That being said, I have never seen a fairy, unicorn or dragon. I had a neighbour who swore they fed the leprechauns in their garden, but I never caught the little buggers no matter how long I lay in wait. (And consequently had to help the neighbours plant new flowers to replace those I killed waiting for the leprechauns to show their faces.)
Along the way, I found my husband who is the rock that keeps me from floating away into my dreams, and we have a little boy who is the centre of our world. Living on a farm keeps us busy (as if the writing wasn't enough) and I have more than my share of stories about wrestling with cows, helping birth calves and ending up in the creek during the process, falling in the mud (we'll call it mud but we all know that on a farm, mud is rarely mud) and chasing escaped livestock in the hopes the four legged convicts don't make it to the highway.
I've taken up archery, and the goal is to move into horseback archery in time (you know, when I can hit the target on a consistent basis) and when no one is looking, I love to bake (this doesn't happen often as it's hard to keep the sweet treats in stock with two boys in the house.)
As to what's coming next for me? More stories (since those never stop inside my head, I might as well share them with all of you!) and more adventures. Pretty much, when the fancy strikes, I'll jump on it. Leap before you look I'm sure that motto was created for me.
Or was that . . . think big and dream bigger, ready, set, pull the trigger . . . yeah. That one is a good one too. But only if you have a gun. And are hunting elephants. Which is not cool because of so many reasons. Let's stick with the first one with an addendum.
Leap before you look and let your dreams carry you on their wings. And that, my friends, is me in a nutshell.
The Rylee Adamson Series consist of Books 1 -10 and a few novellas 0.25, 0.5, 5.5, & 6.5 by Shannon Mayer.
I first had a taste of the Rylee Adamson series with Elementally Priceless novella 0.5.
This novella is a great introduction to Rylee and Lark in the world of Rylee Adamson and Elemental series’s. I enjoyed the novella and glimpse into both characters and the world. This novella had me diving head first into both series.
I bing read the Rylee Adamson series and fit the novellas in-between the books they go with. Each book features our lead Rylee who is a Tracker with a boatload of untapped gifts to discover. Colorful secondary characters. Action-packed and full of paranormal elements and adventure. We see all the characters and world grow. The author keeps us on our toes in each installment as well as adding in emotional turmoil. I can say I cried in almost every book for one reason or another.
If you haven’t picked up this Urban Fantasy series then I highly recommend you do. It’s got a kick-ass heroine. A werwolf sidekick. Action. Adventure. And so much more.
First off Mayer writes a solid paranormal romance with good character development and world building. The series centers around paranormal tracker Rylee Adamson who has been kicked in the teeth by life having been a witness and suspect in her little sister’s disappearance, she was sixteen her sister was about four. She looses not only her sister but her parents dump her too. She has been dogged by the FBI ever since. She has made her own life and family finding missing kids. In each book the author expands on the world building, mystery, romance and character development. They are all solidly written books, and each have adventuresome plots. As my title states skip the audiobooks as instead of paranormal romantic adventure you have a narrator that gives Scobby Doo type characters with a very mad and yelly Rylee.
What an amazing imagination Ms Mayer has! This urban fantasy series has crossovers and spinoffs that are series in themselves; and I still have seven books and four+ novellas to go in this one! Rylee tells you quite plainly that she is a Tracker - one who can sense the psychic threads of individuals and track them. She uses that gift to track missing children and return them to their parents, when the police have no leads. She gives closure and in some cases comfort as well, but the children are taken because they inherently attract the interest of the supernatural. And the majority of the human population has no knowledge of that reality, and want to stay that way. It’s a hard cusp to ride, but Rylee tries. And perhaps that’s all one can hope for. Great premise. Strong language.
Priceless by Shannon Mayer is the first in the Rylee Adamson series. This is a dark, gritty supernatural urban fantasy with witches, werewolves, vampires, harpies, demons and more!! Rylee's character is 'take no bullshit' tough. Losing her sister when she was young, she now uses her unique tracking ability to find lost children. FBI agent Liam O'Shea has no idea the supernatural exists and has been determined to prove Rylee killed her sister all those years ago. I really enjoyed the start of this series. Lots of action and great storyline. I cant wait to check out more!
Immune Rylee is racing the clock for both a child and her very own life!! Her best friend and witch Millie has been acting strange and distant. Agent O'Shea is trying to help Rylee and gain her trust but the tension between these two is skyrocketing!! Poisoned by demon venom that should have no effect on her, she is still determined to find a missing child above all else. The second book is packed full of action and surprise twists I did not see coming. I am diving right in with the next book!!
Raising Innocence The FBI need Rylee to help with a case of missing children and they make her an offer she cant refuse. Liam is gone and she is on her own. I was on the edge of my seat through this one. The suspense keeps builing and building with each step!!!
I listened to the audio version of these books and found the narration to be just OK. But I cant get enough of this series and need more!!
I knew from the first page I was going to love this series and it has become one of my favourites. I read it years ago and now I am leaving a review. Rylee has the best and the worst job, to find those who are lost, the ones no one can find but it is not all sunshine and roses. Sometimes it will break your heart. It is an intriguing, suspenseful, and mysterious thriller filled with tension. The story includes alliances, threats, betrayal, riddles, and plots, all infused with a touch of humour to keep the pages turning.
Really great series. I love Rylee and all her friends. Great characters. Amazing story line. Very original. Highly recommend and I'm heading now to get the 4th book :D
Priceless ***** With so many paranormal books it is rare to come across one that takes a different direction on what has become the familiar. Shannon created new spins on werewolves, vampires, and even responses to the supernatural making it all new, fresh and unique. She fashioned a fun and exciting cast of characters who I truly look forward to reading more of! This story has everything! There is mystery, magic, kidnapping, sadness, a bit of steam and lots of action! Bring on Book 2!!!
Immune ***** Things are heating up and getting steamy, not only in the supernatural world but in Rylee’s! As Rylee gets set to embark on her next salvage she is hit with powerful coldness that sweeps through her body and forces Liam to keep her warm and things get a bit hot. Unfortunately with Rylee down for the count Liam forces her to get cured which leads them on an adventure to save her life. Just as filled with action, humor and unusual supernatural as the first book I am now officially hooked! On to Book 3 pronto!!!
Raising Innocence *****
Sorrow, betrayal, and the courage to put others ahead of yourself. We meet some new characters that are needed because Rylee is more alone than ever and is embarking on a journey her heart is just not ready for. Still plenty of laughs and action! Things get a bit darker and sadder and Rylee needs to fight harder than ever!
These first three books in this series are great and just make you love the characters of course Rylee is the main one and is just a kick ass superstar a supernatural tracker and trained killer her services are in constant demand and lead her into some bad situations there is never a dull moment. Alex her pet werewolf is just so funny can't help but love him. She makes friends and enemies so easily, it is sad when her mentor Gisele died and then her best friend Millie the witch turns against her. The man she loves becomes a werewolf and is taken prisoner by Millie and there is a Vampire stalking her and she has gained some new friends and guardianship of a young witch. Everything happens in her life so quickly it makes your head spin. A great start to what promises to be an interesting series.
Awesome, pure and simple. My heart is fluttering in worry about the adorable supporting cast. Other than that everything is perfect. Perfect characters, perfect storytelling and same about the worldbuilding. Even if the story is so fast paced and gripping, the thought about worldbuilding doesn't come up till after the story is finished. Geezzz oh my nerves. All I want is to find out how different threads in the story turn out. As soon as my nerves settle a little. Great story and narration. The only fault I find with the whole picture is that the narrator is slowly, but surely, giving me a heart attack. Sometimes wish her voice could be more calming, but then again ... might that ruin the experience?
Rylee, who once was lost, seeks all those needing to be found.
Ryle was saved from the streets, like most abandoned children, by a kind soul who loved her as well as she could. Now, Tyler is grown, and watching as Giselle fades. Chosing between rescuing lost children, helping her aging mentor, her foster sister, and an FBI agent stalking her; she'll try to find her own path. I love Maysrs characters, the laughter, the sarcasm, and personal journey of her characters make it an engaging tale.
I'm new to MS Mayer's work and have been pleasantly surprised. Her writing is a bit different from my normal reads which has been refreshing. The writing is amazing it flows smoothly and is easy to follow. There is a little of everything in these books. If you have not read or listen to this author I highly recommend that you rectify that. I'm excited to move on in this series. Thank god I still have a few more to read before I finish this series. But on the bright side she has a lot more for us to read!!!;)
This story is fast-paced and layered. The characters are well developed with meaningful backstories and the writing style is quite smooth. There is a strong theme regarding the importance of family and friendship as well as some romance but trust is the main factor that is repeated throughout the plot. I’ll be continuing to follow Rylee’s adventures past these initial three books. There are definitely quite a few stories that are left unfinished.
These first three books were absolutely phenomenal! I loved everything about them. The danger and excitement were over the tops. And the characters were wonderful. I am so glad I found this author. She has a way of drawing you into the story and keeping you enthralled to the very end. I checked out her other books and can't wait to read more by her. Excellent job.
Rylee is an inexperienced tracker, a supernatural being who finds lost kids, dead or alive. This anthology follows her through three separate adventures. She betters her skills , finds love and heartbreaking betrayal. The pace is good and there is a wide variety of creatures including werewolves, vampires, shamans, brownies, witches ,and druids. The pacing is fast, the writing is good and the characters engaging. Good read for fantasy fans.
If anyone likes stories about the supernatural world, then this one is a must read! Rylee, the main character, is a tracker and she is very good at it! She tracks down lost children. She has someone close to her to begin working against her on top of the ones she must fight to get the children returned to their families; dead or alive. Its got humor as well as serious moments!
Very fast moving but an easy read. The story will hold your interest if you like magic along with cops and robbers. Some of the reviews I have read on other books that I wanted to read so many times gave away the story. It's not hard to do if you enjoyed the story. But I'm not going to do that. If you like magic, intrigued and some blood and guts then you will like this book.
I listened to this omnibus on audible and it was a credit WELL spent. If you like high-action urban fantasy with powerful motivation, dangerous quests, high stakes, funny sidekicks, and a very no-nonsense, baggage-loaded, independent heroine who must learn to work with others to achieve her noble goals, then by all means, drop whatever you’re reading now and grab this! Meyer is a brilliant wordsmith and her fight scenes are abundant yet never feel stilted, overdone, or pointless. There’s very real consequences, very real and tough decisions, and very real dialogue that gives the characters unparalleled depth (warning: lots of swear words and torturous gore but it’s very fitting to the crime-y style of story). I haven’t felt this hooked in an urban fantasy in a while. Also, the motivation is different and heartwarming — saving kids from supernatural monsters, though sometimes you have to work with them — and emotions in the book will be mirrored in you as you read. If doing audible, I recommend speeding up the reading rate to 1.75x or so — it really enlivens the action! HIGHLY recommend. I’m moving the rest of the books up my TBR list!
I enjoy the badassness of the main character, Rylee...she's imperfect, sassy and strong, with a big heart. Her charges are also well fleshed-out and interesting in their own right. Lots of action and some titillation... Could use a final proofread, though. Other than that, good story.
I have to admit that this series has it all. Deep sadness, horrific anger, gross consequences, and comedic humor in spades. It also has morals and kindness of a valiant young woman that has raised herself above the horrors of her childhood. I can’t wait to read more of Rylee’s story and the beings that she calls family.
These characters are so well developed that it’s amazing! So far, the first three books are exciting page turners and I can’t wait continue reading this series. The bad guys, the good guys and Rylee trying so hard to do what’s right makes this a series worth every second of reading! Thank you Shannon Mayer! Keep them coming!
Great story but terrible punctuation, especially in book one! And the paragraph separators caused my kindle to issue a blank page every time so I ended up reading this on my phone! Those need to go!!
But the characters were good and got you emotionally involved with them! I loved Alex!
Having read the Caravan Witch series earlier this year, I was hesitant to go back in time and start the Rylie series. I’m so glad that I did! This was easily the best book series I’ve read this year and I can’t wait to dig into more!
Action, action, action! It is like being on a roller coaster. Just when it starts to slow a little, you think you can catch your breath, but no, a big plunge towards Earth. Great books. Great stories. Great characters. Love everything about this series.
Love the stories of Shannon Mayer since starting the mid life series so this omnibus issue to Rylee Adamson was a no brainer. Read this in conjunction with the audio book and whisper since and good through it in two days. Great characters and story.
I don't usually read a book if it has vampires or.zombies in it
This book is a.little bit to far.out.there for me but if it's your thing......the F bomb is dropped to frequently for me. I don't enjoy a book that reads like a bunch of sailors on a drunken weekend.
What a ride! A series that will make you laugh and cry. Rylee is a woman with which I'd love to hang out, maybe have a beer while she has orange juice. Why orange juice? Read the books!
I enjoyed all 3 of the books in the series and can not wait to read more. I love almost all of the characters although there are a few I dislike intensely.
I loved these first three books. They're a great start to what I'm sure will be a phenomenal series. Rylee is a very strong female lead and same definitely had a strong counterpart. The stragglers she's picking up along the way are really cool.
This series is full of action and the unexpected. Shannon Mayer created some fantastic characters with unique personalities and abilities. A non traditional story line, makes it hard to put it down!
