Gendered

Rate this book
Transgender, Cisgender, boy, girl, all words of a distant and archaic past. Enter a world where gender is suppressed before birth, only to be revealed on one's Choosing Day. But, beneath the pristine facade of structure and order lies the dark and sinister secrets that those in power will do anything to conceal. Tested, tried and true, the system works, but what if someone born sexless begins to identify with something it has never been? Can decades of scientific intervention triumph or will nature began to reassert itself?

Quick Dystopian Read

This isn't the type of story that I usually read, but I'm glad I did. Gendered is a dystopian novel based upon a society that has been created where everyone is born gender neutral and are later assigned a gender based upon testing. The story focuses on one family's struggle to love and accept each other for who they are. This is a timely novel, and I recommend it for anyone who enjoys dystopian literature and is interested in the topic of gender identity.

Amazing take on an issue important today

I really liked this story. The author took the issue of gender identity today and made into an issue that could shape the entire future. The story takes places in the future where gender has been erased and everyone is genetically born to be sexless until they tuen of age. That plot in itself leaves so much for the book as whole and how far this topic can be explored. The time jumps were a bit confusing when new characters were introduced. I wish the author had a spent a little more time world building but the characters and the turmoil they went through more than made up for that. I wasn't a big fan of the ending but I'm glad to find out the story will continue with another book.
