No matter how one chooses to classify this novel, I was riveted from beginning to end. A Vietnam era novel that dealt with unanswered questions about MIA/POW's, it is obvious that R. Cyril West knows about what he writes. However, the twists and turns that he takes the reader through are fascinating!
Walter Greene is an emotional wreck after his son is KIA/MIA or POW in Vietnam. He does not know for sure what happened to Tommy and it's eating him alive. He cannot trust anything the government is telling him. He believes there are shadow organizations within the government that are trying to cover-up what really happened over there. His friends and neighbors think he's losing his mind. The author has done such a wonderful job that the reader isn't sure what to believe! The last sentence of the book ensures that I'll be waiting impatiently for the next book!
It was a real privilege to read and review this book for Mr. West.

CHARACTER ASSASSINATION
In the early 1950s, Walter Greene claimed to have seen and overheard CIA operatives planning the assassination of a Central American dictator. Because no one else can substantiate his “wild claim” a government operative uses this as an example to discredit his assertions of prisoner abandonment in Vietnam. The feds also label Greene as delusional and schizophrenic. Do you believe, as the author insinuates, that the government resorts to character assassination as part of its plan to discredit those seeking the truth about missing military personnel?

A difficult book
I personally served during Korean war, sixty year member of America Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Do not think that we are given the right information and they often tell us only what the politicians want us to hear.

'Some Never Forget' is a beautiful yet haunting story about a father's struggle to deal with the loss of his son. From the first page you are drawn into the story. It's not difficult to connect with Tommy and admire him for wanting to do his duty by serving our country. So many Men and Women have walked this same path. The further into the book you get the more you sympathize with Walter Greene and want him to find his son. When Alex, Tommy's love, goes to meet Walter you feel her pain and joy.
This story is based on the conspiracy that many of our soldiers are left behind by our country. Left to endure POW camps or continue to fight against the enemy. 'Some Never Forget' makes you question what has happened to our POW/MIA soldiers.

Really digs into the head of a man as he falls into mental darkness. Did the government really abandon soldiers in Vietnam? Makes you wonder. The author presents the case here in a believable way. Elements of creepiness kept me turning the pages.

I have friends who were in Vietnam. Some did not come back alive but all returned home. The search for the missing must not end. This story alerts us to that need.
