One long journey of fan-service. The plot is formulaic, I mean there is literally a formula for these story arcs.

- Bad guy enters
- Bad guy is arrogant
- Bad guy underestimates main character
- Main character struggles for a few chapters
- MC powers up
- MC wins
- MC gets the girl

Rinse, repeat. This is repeated countless times over the course of this series. Oh did I mention the tournament battles that always ends in the main characters comeback victory? Sprinkle a few of them in as well. Im also not certain what to call the never ending stream of girls he picks up. They are all the same character, naive and blandly sweet with the MC and "badasses" when dealing with others. One of them even sticks with him after he rapes her (...as you do) another is technically a child. The less said about the bumbling romance, the better.

In the end it's a typical hypermasculine Xianxia novel without little upside. If you are new to the genre you might find it vaguely interesting, otherwise its a never ending stream of tropes and fan service. Some of the writing and plot is so bad it does become unintentionally hilarious though.

Against the backdrop of xuanhuan tropes and familiar arcs, "Against the Gods" navigates its course with both strengths and drawbacks. The tale weaves the protagonist's journey into a young vessel bereft of vitality. There's the clichéd entrance of a captivating maiden who will eventually break off the marriage and the discovery of an overpowered ally to aid in overcoming predicaments. There's a harem element, the arrogant young masters, and the victorious ascent of a seemingly trash character.

"Against the Gods" began with promise, but gradually lost its way. The protagonist's transformation from wisdom to foolishness, reliance on luck, and unsettling interactions with women marred the experience. Repetitive plot patterns and character arcs further hindered its appeal. While the novel may find some audience, its inability to maintain early intrigue and its disconcerting themes may disappoint those seeking a more engaging and thoughtful narrative.

OK, I finished the entire novel with all volumes in 12 days. Though at the time I was reading it, it wasn't fully translated so I had to use MTL but I don't regret using a bit extra of my brainpower trying to decode MTL. The story started smoothly as usual in Xianxia novels and moved fast. I liked the romance, the action and the mysteries. Though the quality dipped quite a bit in between, but it became good again. I recommend you to try reading it. As always Mars Gravity did a good job in the novel.

Ohhhh - how I lovveee this book... and how I hate that I have wait for chapters to come out one by one. There are few books that I have eagerly looked forward to reading / finishing, and currently this one is right at the very top.

If you love Sword and Sorcery - this is a must read. Even though some may say that it follows a typical and well established story arc of cultivation novels, I find this well written, especially around the relationships that the MC has. Though a lot of it is predictable, it still make me look forward to reading it.

Come on Mr author - finish it already...

Great story until the plot starts to repeat itself and becomes predictable.

This got me into the scene of wuxia, and started out great! Really engaging and captivating, but eventually loses its luster in the later chapters.
