Misfit

Rate this book
Misfit. Outcast. September Evans was used to being an outsider after being bounced around foster homes. No one seemed to resent her more than her new foster brother, Keaton Grayson. He hated the new girl intruding on his life.

Until he didn't. Fights became foreplay and anger became lust. The line between their love/hate relationship started to blur until it disappeared completely and ended in heartbreak.

Getting close to Keaton was September's biggest mistake. One that comes back to haunt her four years later, when the stakes are higher than ever. The two are going to have to work together on something dangerous and wrong but done for the right reasons. The chemistry and attraction are still there, buried under resentment and blame.

Keaton still wants September gone, or maybe he just wants her. September can't forget her past with Keaton, but she can't let him ruin her future either.

Erasing that line between love and hate again could destroy them both.

A romantic story between foster siblings!

September went into the system because her mother is a paranoid schizophrenic who endangered her little girl's life.
In the mind of 14 years old September, social workers were robbing her from the only parent she knew so she did not cope with any foster house.

Until she was 16 and the Graysons welcomed her. Everyone in the family liked her except for Keaton.

The logic behind Keaton's insta-hate was valid. He grew tired of many foster siblings that his mother welcomed , unfortunately they ended up stealing and lying and putting the family in danger.

Through the constant bickering and fighting between Keaton and September from the age of 16 to 18 their feeling grew intense and they ended up falling for each other. However September ran away once she became a legal adult, she broke up the Graysons' heart, especially Keaton's. Although she did not have a better choice at that moment.

Keaton and September have a second choice after 4 years when they meet as partners in crime. Because they both steal luxurious vehicles.
The story is narrated in that present time with little chapters of the past to give context to the couple relationship.

This was a second chance romance with a twist.

When September moves into her latest foster home what she didn't expect was to fall for her foster brother Keaton. It was their first home she also felt like she belonged.

So when September leave's when she turns 18 it makes her relationship with Keaton strained when they meet again for the first time in 4 years.

When Keaton reluctantly agree's to work with September they find the chemistry is still there, burning between the two, but can Keaton forgive September once everything is out in the open.

This was like fast and Furious meets Gone in Sixty Seconds, with a twist, it wasn't that I disliked the story it was just missing something for me, but I loved to read others by this author.

September Evans is a foster child. Her mother suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and was put in a hospital when September was young. Bouncing from foster home to foster home, she never felt like she was apart of any family. A misfit, an outcast, that is what she felt her whole life. When September was almost sixteen, she moved in with the Grayson's. They were a nice family that accepted her as their own. They had a daughter, Alexandra, and a son Keaton. Keaton wasn't as accepting as the rest. He just didn't want another foster kid taking advantage of their family.

Keaton and September fought all the time. If they weren't fighting, then they were flirting and throwing around sexual tension that you could cut with a knife. They had a love/hate relationship that went on the entire time she was there, until she left and hearts were broken. Now, it's four years later and September and Keaton are reunited unknowingly and unwillingly. They have a job to do which requires them to work together and that's it. Once the job is done, September is leaving again. She has her mother in the hospital to think about and make sure she is being taken care of. She doesn't have time for Keaton, or even her feelings.

Past and present times in both Keaton and September's perspectives are executed really well. The past is set four years ago when September first moves into Keaton's family's house. Each past time leads right up to what's happening in the present time. It all comes together in the end and it's done very well. Sometimes I don't care for past times. I'd rather know what's going on right now in the story, but when it's well written, like this was, it makes the story that much better.

This is the first book I've read by Alyne Roberts, and it won't be the last. I really enjoyed this book. It has all good qualities like having a great storyline, characters that have good chemistry and deep backgrounds. It's sexy, it's emotional, and it gets you where it hurts. You wouldn't really think about it, but this book is full of suspense and excitement. I was always on my toes wondering if the job that they were doing was going to get them hurt or caught. Besides it being a romance novel, it has a really interesting storyline. Not just about Keaton and September's relationship. It's about her being in the foster system and having a mother with a mental illness. It's a relatable story and I really admire author's when they can write about a subject that hits home.

I highly recommend this book and this author. I think it has everything you need for a good story. Excitement, suspense, love and angst. Because this is a New Adult novel and has mature themes, it shouldn't be read by anyone under the age of eighteen.

“Everything was always temporary for me…How do I know when to hold on?”
“When it feels like you never want to let go.”

September Evans has always felt like a outsider; never fitting in, as she moved from foster home to foster home. When she finds herself at the Graysons, she finds a warm couple and daughter, but a hostile son, Keaton, who warns her on her first day not to screw his parents over. Nearly sixteen, she bides her time until she can leave the care system, and take control of her life and responsibility. However, as the years pass, she finds herself growing closer to her foster parents and sister but Keaton is another story all together. Their difficult relationship masks unwanted desire and attraction until, one night, Keaton steps over the line of love and hate. Nonetheless, her yearning to belong drives her to leave the Grayson home when a relative comes looking for her, leaving Keaton and his family broken-hearted.

“Forgetting September has never been easy and hating her has never been hard.”

Five years later, September is shockingly back in Keaton’s life, but they need each other for the job they have to do and, unfortunately, old feelings die hard. There is too much hurt and pain between them for smooth sailing, but there’s also too much compelling desire to simply ignore.

“I don’t hate you because you left and broke my heart…I hate you because you came back.”

This was a great story. September is independent and gutsy. She’s lived a difficult life and had to make difficult choices at such a young age, but not without regrets. She’s lived with danger and betrayal, and finds it difficult to trust anyone. Keaton knows that he still wants her, even as he hates her. However, he sees her vulnerability and need to belong somewhere. When push comes to shove, September takes a massive risk for Keaton because, at the end of day, she loves him and always has.

“When we were together and no longer pretending to hate each other, she made me laugh and feel alive. I made her feel loved, like she belonged. Because she belonged to me.”

September is intrinsically a good person and I thought the storyline was fab for portraying this, and the sacrifices she was willing to make for the people that she loved. It was a pretty gripping read that was angsty, charged, and sexy, with a touch of danger.

I was giving an ARC in exchange of an honest opinion. I’d like to start saying that I enjoyed this book, a lot.
Alyne Roberts has a way with words, and although is the first book I’ve read from her i can honestly say, she’s an amazing writer.
What I loved about this book, it’s the topic of being a Misfit, someone that doesn’t fit in the role that should fulfill. We as human being, are supossed to play a part in society, but sometimes that role doesn’t fit us, and we strugle to fit in.
This is what happens to September and Keaton. They have different lives, she dealing with the pain of a mother that is there but is not, a girl that’s been raised by the State, with no family, no friends, no place to call home. Until she meets the Grayson’s. The only people, she can actually consider a family. But, not everything is as good as it seems. Keaton Grayson is a boy, that for some reason, hates and loves September. But the hate sometimes, is stronger than the love.
After they go their separates ways, faith brought them together one last time, and as the say, where there were fire, ashes will remain. Bad For Each OtherAnd that’s exactly what happens. I don’t want to say much about the plot, because it should be read. But, I can assure you, once you start reading it, you won’t be able to put it down.
I loved this book, because I’d relate to both characters, but mostly because it tells us a story that is real, even if is not an autobiography, but because being a misfit, is something that all of us, had to deal with, in some stage of our life.
The characters are well described, and both their backgrounds, helps to understand why they are, the way they are.
Keep writing those amazing books, Alyne, and I’ll keep reading them!

This would be my first read my Alyne Roberts and it wont be my last , what an emotional read really hits you in the feels , the characters were really likable I hope to see more from them , story line had me hooked could not put my kindle down it was to were I literately got mad at my kindle for dying and I had to wait for it to charge so I'd be able to finish Misfit , didn't drag was the right pace never a dull moment , and the sex scene were really really hot . September was a great heroin shes sassy , tough , awesome , and extremely selfless . Loved the hero Keaton was just delicious even though at times he did make me mad but I got over that real quick with his dirty talking self and it's really understandable why he reacts to the heroine in the beginning . They made the excellent couple had a lot in common both loved the rush and adrenaline high they would get by doing what they do , the sex scenes were steamy and through out the story the sexual chemistry that was going on had me fanning myself and also wanting them to just get it on but what a build up super intense . Can't wait to see what the author comes up with next and hopefully get to see more from the side characters .

This was the first book I've read by this author and she didn't disappoint.

This was a second chance love story with some rush, drama and angst. Keaton and September met when she was placed in his family house as a foster kid. They had a love/hate relationship that secretly developed into something more even though they hid it from everyone and still acted like they hated each other.

They cross paths again 4 years later unexpectedly and the resentment is still there but also the love. They have a tug of war of emotions throughout the entire story and the flashbacks were also good because you got to see how things developed between these two.

The trouble these two got in will have you in a rush but you'll realize how bada$$ September is and also how much of a good heart they both have. Their friends and Keaton's family were awesome.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

Second Chance Love Story

This is my first book by Alyne Roberts and I'm positive it won't be my last. Alyne Roberts did a fantastic job writing Misfit. I absolutely loved how detailed the author was when writing the emotions each character was feeling. The story is told from past and present, so you get the idea of what both September and Keaton experienced. I enjoyed the banter between the characters because it brought humor to the story. The chemistry between Keaton and September was off the charts. I'm a huge fan of Keaton and all his undoubtedly alpha hotness. I have no intention of giving away the secrets or the ending of this book but, what I can tell you is that it is really good and a must read.

This was my first book by Alyne Roberts and I have to say, I'm an instant fan! I couldn't put this book down!

September had such a rough start in life. And then being in foster care... she's alone and can trust almost no one.

Keaton grows up, what some might consider, living a privileged life. Good family, good upbringing... how do Keaton and September even become friends? They're so different!

Their story was completely different than anything else I've read and it kept me on the edge of "will they, won't they... can they, will they?" I just LOVED this story so so much.

I am off to start a binge reading of all things by this author. I can't believe this is my first of her stories, after seeing she has several out already!! I highly recommend this book!

This is the first time I have read any of this authors work, and goodness, it will definitely not be the last! September has been through the foster system, and just wants to belong and be loved. Keaton has lead a privileged life, and does not take kindly to his family fostering. No spoilers from me, please read this novel for yourself, you will not regret it!
This is an incredible and emotional story, which is well written, and I was hooked and intrigued from the very beginning. I cannot wait to read more of this author’s work, and she will definitely be added to my favourites and 1-click list.

This is one one incredible! It is not your typical romance, these characters have bad habits, horrible circumstances, this is a gritty, seedy romance, and it ain't for the faint of heart. This read from start to finish, never did I think I needed to put it down because I wasn't into this story.
This story is told in alternate views.

I would've loved more sex scenes and more glimpses into the main two characters teen years. Other than that, a pretty good read.

Amazingly heartfelt read!

This is one one incredible! I was glued to my reader for hours, because I just can't stop reading this story until I got to the end. And it was a great ending, as well as the beginning and the middle.

This book just shows how you hold the wheel to your future, despite your past. You won't be able to help but fall in love with September Evans, the edgy and lonely heroine with so much baggage. We'll get to experience her decisions with her, and how fate helps her get through them. I can't get enough of her story!!! I want more!

I was provided a copy for review purposes.
