'Praise the Lord...' is repeated so many times in this honest, raw, and poetic book of the Bible. Took me a while to get through but so many verses spoke to me in many ways.
God's Word speaks to you in so many ways. Whether starting the Psalm complaining about your situation it always ends praising the Creator since we know that He hears and responds in His time. He never leaves us nor pushes us away.
This month I listened to all of the Psalms sung through by Poor Bishop Hooper. A beautiful alternative way of engaging with these ancient praises and laments.
Psalm is such a joy to read. There a chapters that just magnify and glorify God. There are also chapters where the writer will pour out their complaint and anguish to God. What I appreciate about Psalm is that it doesn't matter how the writer starts off complaining, it always ends with a triumphant praise.
I make a practice of consecutively praying through the Psalms (in various translations). Now that I have finished with the NIV Psalms, which I was using in the evenings, I am continuing with the NKJV Psalms (mornings) and returning to the ASV Psalms in the evenings.
