I think this book should be extremely useful for anyone who has a less than stellar relationship with food and exercise. I would probably give it five stars if it weren't for the overload of testimonials. One relevant testimonial per chapter seemed completely reasonable, but putting in testimonials for the last 18 pages, over 10% of the total page count, made the whole thing end feeling like a cheap sales pitch, funneling you into an online program. Disregard those last 18 pages and you have a great book on your hands.

I’ve seen some criticisms that this book doesn’t have anything new to share, and to some extent, that’s true. I read a lot of personal development books and every chapter made a point that I’ve read other places. What this book does really, really well, though, is to put all those ideas together into an action plan for how to become a fit, healthy person. Each chapter has a journal prompt, an action plan, a “super action plan” for bringing the idea to the next level, and a recap. I listened on Audible and also bought the Kindle format, which I’m very glad to have for highlighting, revisiting, and following up on book recommendations he makes within the text. Whereas before reading this book I was kind of muddling out a sort of plan-ish for meeting a goal that’s big for me (to lose 30-40 pounds and be able to run a half marathon in the next nine months), Jay Nixon puts it all together into something that I can take action on now, rather than taking the next 6-9 months to try to figure out how to put together everything I knew before reading this book and not making my goal.

Even better, the action steps in this book (minus the chapter on the importance of good nutrition) can be implemented for any major goal, including professional ones.

In my mind, this book deserves to be more widely read and better known. All the frustration I’ve had with my weight and my fitness in the last 20 years are summed up and solved for in this book. I wish Jay Nixon lots of luck, but if he practices what he preaches, I don’t think he’ll need it.

Really inspiring

I've tried many many diets over the years and this book explains exactly why they've never been sustainable. This book has given me the basic tools to change my life. I'm excited to start my journey to a new life.

the entire book is an advertisement for his program

This book only lauded the jay nixon program and tried to sell you on signing up. There is absolutely no other valuable information. Very disappointing.

Meh. Nothing enlightening here. Seems to be designed to sell his gym/coaching mainly. I get that, but yawn.

Why are people rating this so highly? It isn't even anything ground breaking. There are way too many testimonies and not enough techniques on how to overcome one's own mind. It is unfortunate that the best part was the few random quotes.

Nothing new or groundbreaking here plus I found the writing to be really simplistic and repetitive. The exercises provided were okay, but I’ve found ones in psychology books that are more in-depth and helpful.
