Claire Conrad - Claiming His Mate (Mates of Zatari Book 1)

Claiming His Mate is the first book in the Mates of Zatari series by Claire Conrad. It introduced us to a new sci-fi world centered on the planet Zatari. The planet is inhabited by two main civilizations.

There is an Amazonian type of civilization where women rule and men are used mainly for breeding. They have many breeding rituals where the participants are given a certain elixir made from a flower grown on the planet. One of the effects of this is to increase lust to demanding levels.

Octavia is royalty and a high priestess of Zatari. Finding herself extraordinarily drawn to one of the males at the latest breeding ceremony she makes up her mind to free the male. Strangely enough she can hear in her mind the prisoner communicating with her imploring her to free him. The strong psychic link to this man convinces her to free him, going against her people and role as a priestess basically endangering and alienating herself as well.

Prince Markus of Delhi had been taking prisoner by the Zatari when he was caught searching for his sister who has been abducted. When he finds himself mentally connected and his body physically craving a Zatari Princess he convinces her thru their mental bond to help him escape. Markus realizes Octavia is his fated mate and flips roles by kidnapping her.
Both civilizations have been at war for a thousand years. At this point the Prince is tired of all the fighting and death and seeks a better solution.

Octavia realizes she will be exiled from her people but can't deny the bond she has with Prince Markus especially the strong sexual attraction she can not ignore .
Prince Markus is a very dominant alpha male who introduces Octavia to his sexual world. Despite her denials Octavia is finds submitting to Marcus and is turned on by his demands.

This is an intriguing new world with many possibilities to explore, the first book only the beginning. There are more characters whose stories need to be told, Marcus and Octavia must find his sister Selena, and more to revealed about the planet and its people.

A great page turning sci-fi read which is very sexually charged (there is some spanking ) , some suspense, lots of excitement and interest watching the relationship between the Hero/Heroine develop and grow. Am looking forward to reading more books in this new series.

I enjoyed this story. It is a very quick, spicy read. I only gave it 4 stars because the ending felt rushed but overall it is an interesting read. It kept me entertained all the way through. A good first book. Looking forward to reading more in this series.

This was everything a bad book should be. The erotic scenes were ok. The price you pay sometimes for just randomly buying stuff.

Wonderful Wonderful

I know this book is the birth of a new author but as I love this author in her many muses I can honestly say this book is a wonderful read it hit all the correct buttons for me it also made me know this will not be a one time read only Enjoy you will not be disappointed

Great Book to read. Markus was taken because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Octavia was in the right place at the right time. Octavia could not understand why Markus was chained when the other men was not chained like he was. Markus and Octavia have one thing in common they both want to be free. Now you need to read to find out what happens next and to them.

Enough from book 1

The premise of this story had merit but the author relied upon liking, drawn out spankings and fairly common sex scenes to carry the story. Her characters were fairly simplistic and the author missed out on several opportunities to add depth to both Marcus and Octavia. I suspect that Amazon will drag this story out through a series of short stories before the author gives us the HEA. If this happens, I suggest you skip to the last of the series and find out what happened. That is, if you still are interested or care.

Octavia is a Zatari priestess, a member of a race of warrior women. Markus is a Delti warrior, their people have been at war for a thousand years. Their worlds collide when Markus is captured while searching for his missing sister in Zatari territory. Octavia is drawn to Markus the moment she sees him in chains. She makes the decision to help him escape. Markus will have his work cut out for him in convincing Octavia that they are fated mates. Octavia will have to fight her own instincts and upbringing in order to admit her love for Marcus before she can bring herself to submit to him. This is a fantastic book with fascinating, sizzling hot, well written character interactions, and some BDSM. The plot is exciting and has some interesting twists. I loved this book and look forward to more of this series..

While observing and blessing an Amazonian based breeding ceremony Octavia, Priestess of Zatari, doesn't know why she is overcome with undeniable lust and attraction for one of the men in the ceremony. Markus, Prince of Delti, cannot believe that is has captured by his people's mortal enemies, the Zatari, while searching for his missing sister and now is an unwilling participant in their breeding ceremony. But nothing goes according to plan when Markus is able to mentally connect with Octavia. From there fate and lust take over as Octavia faces exile in order to save and Markus and Markus fights to make Octavia accept that she is his fated mate. A quick and steamy read I enjoyed the first installment of Mates of Zatari and cannot wait to see the story continue in the following books. Warning: slight cliff hanger at the end.
