Cherry Adair

Always an adventurer in life as well as writing, New York Times best-selling author Cherry Adair moved halfway across the globe from Cape Town, South Africa to the United States in her early years to become a interior designer. Now a resident of the Pacific Northwest she shares the award- winning adventures of her fictional T-FLAC counter terrorism operatives with her readers.

Cherry settled in beautiful San Francisco, where she started what eventually became a thriving interior design business. "I loved being a designer because it was varied and creative, and I enjoyed working with the public." A voracious reader when she was able to carve out the time, Cherry found her brain crowded with characters and stories of her own. "Eventually," she says, "the stories demanded to be told."

When asked why she chooses to write romantic action adventure, she says, "Who says you can’t have adventure and a great love life? Of course if you’re talking about an adventurous love life, that’s another thing altogether. I write romantic suspense coupled heart-pounding adventure because I like to entertain, and nothing keeps readers happier than a rollercoaster read, followed by a happy ending."

Popular on the workshop circuit, Cherry gives lively classes on writing and the writing life. Pulling no punches when asked how to become a published writer, Cherry insists, "Sit your butt in the chair and write. There's no magic to it. Writing is hard work. It isn't for sissies or whiners."

Cherry loves to spend time at home. A corner desk keeps her focused on writing, but the windows behind her, with a panoramic view of the front gardens, are always calling her to come outside and play. Her office has nine-foot ceilings, a fireplace, a television and built-in bookcases that will house approximately 3,500 paperback books.

"What can I say? My keeper shelf has been breeding in the middle of the night, rather like drycleaners' wire clothes hangers.”

Rydell is about to bite off more than any mere mortal should face at one time. He wants to win back his wife and hunt down a dream treasure that is sure to set his crew for life. The only problem, he’s been facing some seriously bad luck. His ship was highjacked and destroyed leaving him no other alternative than take over his ex-wife’s ship from the divorce settlement and win back over her crew.

Lots of rough water ahead for both Addison and Rydel, even a salvage ship isn’t big enough to hid from each other and the issues that tore them apart.

Hurricane is a high sea adventure with a good dose of steamy romance on the side.

I received this ARC copy of Hurricane from St. Martin's Press. This is my voluntary and honest review. Hurricane is set for publication March 7, 2017.

Favorite Quote: "She was so horny her eyeballs throbbed."

Back in the day, I read quite a bit of Cherry Adair (remember her T-Flac series??? Those were my crack.). She writes fun, steamy romances and we get that with Hurricane. We also get an over the top suspense plot with an over the top villain, which made me roll my eyes a little. But still a fun book.

Rydell is a treasure ship, salvage hunter. It's his passion in life and how he makes his living. Married, happy and with a new daughter, when his daughter dies suddenly, his marriage instantly falls apart. Rydell wasn't local when this tragedy happened, and his wife, Addison, never tried to contact him (sounds cold and heartless...you need to read to find out why). Their marriage instantly dissolves, leaving both of them devastated. Addison files for divorce and turns to her former lover, Naveen for comfort.

A year later, Rydell has had his ship taken hostage and he lost his crew. He is desperate to salvage and needs a boat - and guess who has one? His ex-wife has control of the ship they jointly owned. She is getting ready to sell it, and Rydell wants it back. Instead of asking nicely, he boards the ship and takes over. Rydell is pissed that Addison is with Naveen, and pissed that he doesn't have his own boat - basically pissed off at the entire world. He still loves Addison deeply and wants her back.

Not his wife, Ry reminded himself.

Not. His. Wife.

Not anymore.

But first he has to take total control of the boat and be all growly. Addison, super stubborn herself, refuses to leave the boat, so off they go on their own adventure. It's quite frosty to start - but also sexy:

Irritation spiked and spread in a heated rush as he stood there as if he owned the ship, her, and everything he surveyed.

I hate you.

Tall, he had shoulders almost as wide as the doorway, huge hands, strong muscular legs, and big...everything in between. His dark hair, always finger-combed, hung to his shoulders, and he'd needed a shave two or three days ago. Everything about Rydell Case was large and dark. Addison's skin felt hot and too tight.

Oh Addison! You are already a goner!

I love a lovers reunited story and the pain between Rydell and Addison is pretty intense.

She might hate him in the daylight hours, but her subconscious ached for him in her dreams.

They still love each other really, but their pain from losing their daughter and the miscommunication afterwards has created a void that is so deep, they can't find their way. But, being stuck on a boat together definitely makes them face what they couldn't face in the past. Once they talk about their daughter's death, they fall back in love pretty quick. I liked them together - Rydell is very alpha and stalks around with his big attitude, but Addison can give it back just as good. Addison is from much wealth and has to deal with a horribly selfish mother which weighs on her a bit. Naveen hangs around in this book - once she divorced Rydell, she went back to Naveen but nothing physical has happened between them. He is pushing for it, but Addison keeps putting him off. He plays a bigger part in this book and while I'm not a huge fan of the boyfriend hanging around as the hero and heroine rekindle their love, his story line played out okay.

There is a lot of action in this book - pirates attacking while trying to get through a canal. A man falls overboard and it's discovered it's murder! And then huge action scene at the end. The final action was over the top and not my favorite. But, overall I enjoyed this one.

I would recommend reading this series in order. I started with book 4 a couple weeks ago and I was confused enough that I didn't enjoy the story as much as I think I would have if I'd had that background. I already had this book in my possession so I went ahead and read this book next and I enjoyed this one way more. I'm still confused about the animosity between Rydell and the Cutters, but that was the only piece of information I felt was missing in this book and didn't hamper my overall enjoyment of Rydell and Addison's story.

That being said, their story was heartbreaking. They lost a baby to SIDS and due to manipulations from others, lost their marriage as well. In the beginning I didn't know if I should be hating Rydell or Addison. The more information I gained with each chapter I realized things weren't as they seemed. I can say this story had me much more invested in these two and finding out what really happened and how they were going to repair all that damage.

The plot twist towards the end was exciting and overall, this was a great read! Arc provided by Netgalley.

Rydell Case has been the nemesis of the Cutter family since the first book. We only have the Cutter side to draw conclusions from, but they paint him as a villain of the darkest kind. It has been interesting to see what this bad-boy is really all about. This book works on every level with a sad, hot, second chance romance, a mystery as to Ry's motives, and a murder on the high seas and that is before they even get to the salvage site. You don't need to read the previous books as this one is very much a standalone.

Rydell Case has had an absolutely horrid year and now he has to basically hijack his ex-wife and seize control of the luxury salvage vessel he designed and had built only to lose in the divorce. To say that Addison is not happy to see him is a major understatement. She had plans and they definitely did not include Ry taking her and her boat on a salvage. These two are like junk yard dogs circling and taking bites out of each other. The reason for the divorce is so sad and revealed slowly through the first half of the book. They had a deep, sexual love that didn't die even through the tragedy and misunderstanding that occurred. Sparks fly and the battle lines are drawn, especially after Prince Naveen, Addy's suitor, shows up with his bodyguards.

Following on the heels of Stormchaser, a reader would be hard pressed to care about Rydell. From all accounts, the guy is a jerk and gets what he deserves. As the old adage goes, there are two sides to every story. Rydell's story is sad and breaks my heart a bit. He is not a bad guy and he isn't even unscrupulous. He is painted in a very bad light and it appears no one has his back. He is all alone. I came into this story ready to hate Rydell. Instead, this anti-hero is really not an anti-hero. He is a man who has lost much and done everything he can to still provide for the ex-wife who threw him away.

This story made me very angry. Violently angry as the story unfolds and exposes the heinous conspiracies against Rydell. The horribly shabby way that Rydell is subject to makes me furious and makes him more endearing to me. Addison, his ex-wife is a self-righteous, flighty floozy. Ms. Adair tries to paint her out as a woman wronged and justified for the actions she takes. Instead, Addison comes across as a spoiled clueless socialite who is shallow and vain. I did not like her one bit. Even after learning the trauma she experienced, it does not move me. Why? Because she comes across as too stupid to live. Fact, her mother hates Rydell. Fact, Rydall loved her and would do anything for her. So when Rydell behaves in a way that makes no sense, does she confront him in person? No. She just closes down and lets others who have never had her best interests at heart take over. And this is why I despise Addison and find her worthless.

Whilst the plot hints at treasure hunting, this story's focus is more about the dysfunctional relationship Addison has with everyone: her ex-husband, former friends, mother and fiancé. There is a bit of suspense which works well with the plotline as it explains both her fiancé and mother. In addition, it just shows Addison off in worse light because now she comes across as naïve and extremely foolish. Truly, it is a marvel how she survives in this world.

The sexual tension between Rydell and Addison is the only redeeming thing about Addison. Her responses to Rydell generate a guilty pleasure which amuses me. Rydell is sex on a stick. He is a demanding lover and a rather thoughtful person. It is interesting to see how shoddily he's been portrayed. Ms. Adair does an excellent job of un-tarnishing his armour and restoring him to a white knight. This romantic suspense is recommended to romance readers who love anti-heroes with a heart of gold.

Having just recently read Stormchaser, the previous book in this series, I wasn't sure about reading a book where the hero of this book was the villain in the last book. However, not everything is at seems when it comes to Rydell. The chemistry between Rydell and his ex-wife, Addy, who is forced to joined this expedition was explosive. This book had everything in it that you'd expect in a Cherry Adair novel. Steamy romance, adventure, intrigue and more than a few characters that you want to throw overboard! Cherry Adair, please keep these great books coming!

FINAL DECISION: A story that perfectly balanced angst, drama, adventure and good old fashioned sexiness. Two people who haven't recovered from the failure of their marriage discover that what they really need is one another.

THE STORY: Rydell Case's life fell apart just over a year ago when he lost a big salvage to his business enemies the Cutters, his wife left him and things just kept falling apart as his ship was hijacked. Now, Rydell is determined to salvage silver from another wreck but he needs the boat his wife got in the divorce to do it. And he intends to get the boat no matter what he needs to do. Addison D'Marco can't believe the nerve of Ry to come and take over her ship when he hasn't spoken to her in over a year. She is determined to move on perhaps with the man who has asked her to marry him - but how can she do that when Ry is here and sexier than ever.

OPINION: This book was an exciting ride from the start with a great deal of heart and angst. I really loved it! Ry and Addy are so perfect for one another from the start that readers are taken on a journey to discovery what destroyed their marriage. The story is so sad and emotional that it gives this story depth and drama.

Ry is a man who has almost hit bottom. His entire world is falling apart around him and he is determined to stop the slide and recover. His taking of Addy's ship allows him to both search for his underwater treasure and also have the possibility of confronting Addison. Ry was the villain in the prior book but this book gives his side of the story which is more sympathetic than I expected. In fact, I found his story so persuasive, that I thought that Addy had the wrong side in this one.

Addy begins the book believing that she was the injured party. My one complaint about this book is that she doesn't really ever acknowledge her part in the disintegration of her marriage. Honestly, I thought that she was wrong at least as much as Ry was. While she is angry at him, she really needed to accept that she was the accessory to everything that happened.

At the same time, this book doesn't wallow in its emotional drama. There is good dose of actual adventure drama to keep the story hopping. Just when it seems that the story between Ry and Addison might be resolved, the plot picks up and there is much going on. Murders, hijackings, danger, shoot outs. There is plenty here for anyone who wants either emotional drama and depth or action and adventure.

WORTH MENTIONING: Content warning SPOILER!!

This book deals with SIDS and the death of a child.

CONNECTED BOOKS: HURRICANE is the fifth book in the Cutter Cay series. While there are overlapping characters, this book can be read as a complete standalone.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4.5 stars.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in order to provide a review. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

Urgh I love this series so much! And I hope to god it NEVER ends because seriously who can get enough of diving for treasure? NOT ME! This book is a little Fools Gold (think Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson) and just wholly completely awesome!
.
Our hero and heroine divorced after a tragedy ripped their family apart, but our hero is back in his ex-wife’s life to commandeer her ship to help with a treasure salvage. Of course throwing the two together not only brings up past pain but also the undeniable attraction and feelings they still have with each other.
.
This book has the perfect sea setting and my only complaint is that I wish there was more treasure and diving (because I’m obsessed). The hero and heroine are both flawed creatures and it was heart breaking bringing up their past tragedy and was written in a way that didn’t overwhelm the story too much. Fantastic 🔥🔥 with suspense and action all rolled into one!

I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I started this book after book 4 either. Ry wasn't exactly the nicest guy and so I was prepared for just about anything.
I wasn't prepared for her highness Addison and her attitude despite what she thought she deserved.
Pfft. I liked Ry in this book and all the intrigue and drama kept me glued to the pages. Ry's had a rough go and is willing to do anything to get what he needs, even if it means dealing with Addison and her LV baggage. Yup there was steam a plenty, intrigue and suspense and a couple of times I held my breath in this one.
Summing it up, I loved it. I'm going to back up and read the first three. Cherry is a great writer and really knows how to keep us flipping those pages.

I must say I'm glad I gave this one a chance because I enjoyed it so much more than the last book I read in this series. In this one Rydell Case wants a chance to win his wife back. Working hard towards that end he finds himself in an immense amount of trouble. His company is failing and now his ship has been hijacked. There's only one place to turn. His ex wife Addison D'Marco. There will definitely be stormy seas ahead.

This one has lots of adventure and some super steamy sexy times making it a very good read. I would definitely recommend it.

3 stars.

At first, I really didn't like Addison, she seems to be this super-privileged woman who took everything she could from her ex-husband Rydell, lives on a mega-yacht and travels around the world shopping and writes a fashion blog as her "work". She did sort of redeem herself towards the end but still, the whole story felt very choppy.

I could never understand the animosity Ry had towards the Cutters either. All in all, just another ok read.

Being a treasure hunter is much like being a gambler as Rydell Case very well knows. After his gambit to have his sister spy on his competition for him failed spectacularly, Ry decided to cut his losses and move on. Only, he can't go very far because his ship was hijacked and destroyed and the only option available to him is to temporarily take over his ex-wife's ship, which was supposed to be his pride and joy until it was awarded to her in the divorce settlement, to salvage the biggest find of his career as quickly as possible or risk losing everything he's worked so hard to build. But Ry isn't going to pass up a chance to win his wife back, even if she is engaged to another man.

Addison D’Marco would prefer to have a continent between herself and her ex-husband but she's not so lucky since he commandeered her ship and sharing the close quarters aboard with him and her fiancé is a really tight fit, especially as the painful memories threaten to overwhelm her.

Addy and Ry cannot avoid each other for long and soon they have to deal with their past and the fact that the destruction of their marriage was helped along by people they trusted. Along with the happening on board, maybe having Ry there may be to Addy's advantage as he will do anything to keep her safe.

I read this series backwards, staring with this book first and I'm glad I did because Ry was horrible in the preceding book and I probably won't have read this one if I read in order. He came across as arrogant and selfish and unfeeling, but underneath all of that was a man who felt he didn't measure up and tried hard to do so, even as fate conspired to deal him blow after blow to knock him down. It was really easy to root for his success in the face of all the bad luck he was dealing with.

Addy on the other hand was a pampered and spoiled socialite, really selfish and shallow. Even though the author tried to gin up sympathy for her, I really did not like her and the choices she made that put others a risk sealed it for me.

Addy and Ry's relationship was very dysfunctional and took up a big part of the story, but the nefarious cast of characters and intrigue and suspense they brought with them served to excite my interest. Like I said in my review of Stormchaser, this series bring to mind the Indiana Jones movies and if you enjoyed them or love adventure, mysteries and suspense, then you will definitely enjoy this book and series.

In the past I have really enjoyed Cherry Adair series each one had just the right amount of cheese, romance and suspense would keep me hooked.
Hurricane and the other Cutter Clay series seem to fall really flat. Don't get me wrong she still had her fun one liners "She was so horny her eyeballs throbbed." and "She might hate him in the daylight hours, but her subconscious ached for him in her dreams."
As A reader the book had too many I love her I hate he. I love him and I hate them. It was over and over again to the point I was skipping pages to get past the endless love hate which is though out the book.

There are the over the top Villains, Steamy sex that you have and heck of an ending but in all this book leaves the cutter clay series flat.

I just couldn’t figure out why she fought the rekindling romance with Ry, then it became clear and I got misty eyed. Art thieves, pirates, treasure hunting – what a fun ride!

It has been a while since I have read a romantic suspense and this one hit the right spot: an alpha hero with a soft side, a spunky heroine, adventure and a second chance. I haven't read the other books in the series, but I think the book works well as a stand alone.

Hurricane is the fifth novel in the Cutter Cay series. The fifth and probably final story in this marvellous series is truly top notch entertainment.
This is the incredible story of Rydell Case, his wife/ex-wife Addison (Addy). The plot in this is mind-boggling. To have so much happen to such wonderful people and yet they still can breathe and live…amazing, simply amazing.
I won’t do spoilers, this is a story you have to read and enjoy yourself. To say it has heartache is such an understatement. But there is more, there’s attraction and sizzling sex, adventure and treasure, crime and danger. There is so much happening that at first you don’t realize all the ramifications of how things got this bad.
Rydell is an amazing and determined man, and it certainly helps that he’s a man of honor. Addison, while more than a little naive, is a loving and wonderful woman who a terrible thing has happened to. That these two loved each other is obvious from the start. I found myself waiting breathlessly for the author to tell me the story behind it all. And what a story it is!
As with this whole series, the love story is but one part. The other parts are twists and mysteries, plots within plots. There is certainly the magical adventure of treasure, but beyond even that there is crime and betrayal almost unimaginable. Leave it to Cherry Adair to imagine the unimaginable.
Ms. Adair’s work is impeccable. Her plots are most excellent, the characters have flaws, but more than that they rise above any flaws to be truly heroic. The whole story line is believable and exciting.
I’d love to have a few days to curl up by myself and dive in with the characters, coming up only when absolutely necessary. My fondest dream would be to have another series as a spinoff to this one with some of the same characters, at least in cameo…oh well. I’m sure this author has many more planned.
Do yourself a favor and don’t pass on this series, it’s amazing!

Hurricane was pure drama on the high seas in Cherry Adair’s latest installment in the Cutter Cay series. Just when you thought the situation could get any more explosive and the emotions any more tangled up, we followed along with Ry and Addy on their heartbreaking journey.

“…I’d fight for you like”–he drew a deep breath–“like my goddamn life depended on it.”
She closed her eyes as if he’d struck her, and the color left her cheeks. With words that were barely a whisper, she looked at him with pain-filled eyes. “But you didn’t.”

All right, so I have to be honest. I really do enjoy Cherry Adair’s suspenseful stories. They’re inventive and fast-paced and the larger than life characters jump off the pages. However for me this really, really started off on the wrong foot with our heroine Addison (Addy). At first she came across as a spoiled fashionista who was rather cool and uncaring. And after a miscommunication of epic proportions with our hero, her then husband Rydell (Ry), I felt like Addy gave up way, *way* too quickly on what they had together. Read More

This book wasn't as enjoyable to read as other books I have read by Cherry Adair. There was a lot of being told what the protagonists were thinking/feeling rather than the reader being able to see this through their actions and dialogue. For me this made the book slower and harder to read and thus not as enjoyable to read. There were sections where action and dialogue drove the story the forward and they were good. But there just wasn't enough of these "action" sections to balance the "being told" sections.

Hurricane by Cherry Adair is the fifth book in her Cutter Cay series. There are hints of a back story about Rydell and Addison's marriage and the hijacking of his Sea Dragon boat by pirates. But Hurricane has pirates, art thieves, treasure hunting and a sketchy prince who is trying to sell Tesoro Mio with or without permission.
While I enjoyed the book, I couldn't help feeling that I was missing the back story between Rydell, Addison, their previous ship, Sea Dragon and why they divorced, but I would give the book a 3.8 star for the entire story.

Addison D'Marco is part owner in Rydell Case's mega yacht, she received it after their divorce and now has plans to sell it once they reach Sydney, Australia. But when she boards in Rome, she discovers that Rydell has no intention of selling as he plans on using it to find a shipwreck in the Maldive Islands. But first she needs to convince Prince Naveen that she doesn't want to marry him because she still loves her ex-husband Ry. But first they must transit the Suez Canal without being over taken by pirates and solve the mystery of why there is stolen painting on board the Tesoro Mio. Little does she know that a family member is involved in planning to hijack the ship. But can Ry and Addison rekindle their romance that never left them?

Rydell Case need to find this the shipwreck off the coast of the Maldives or he will lose everything including trying to convince Addison that he still loves her. An unknown investor that worked with the Case family wants their money back yesterday, so Ry must find this ship wreck. However, when he finds out that Addison's mother may have been the person who broke them apart after the sudden death of their baby and sinking of their other ship, The Sea Dragon by pirates. But when the ship is boarded again by men who are determined to take Tesoro Mio from them, Addison's mother suddenly shows up and the Prince turns out to be a frog with secrets of his own. It will take everything Ry and his crew has to take back the ship and Addison.

This book was TEN times better than the previous book! The last book ended so abruptly, with no epilogue or explanation to many different questions. I was hoping there'd be some clarity with this book about the previous book, and unfortunately there wasn't. BUT the details of this story were so much better and everything came to a satisfying conclusion.

Hurricane was ultimately a redemption story. A couple who had been ripped apart by the loss of their infant daughter, I was very curious how Ms. Adair was going to bring this couple back together. I was worried that she'd drag it out til 75% of the way through the book, but I was happy to read them coming together about 45% of the way through. It was still a long road to the end, but it totally worked!

The suspense part of this story was also really intriguing. I enjoyed all the secondary characters and even the bad guys.

The hero and heroine in the previous book were so overwrought with sexual frustration for each other, I felt like it took over the whole book, and was really rather distracting. That was not the case in this book. While the hero and heroine were definitely lusting after one another, but they were already in love, so it felt different. I loved how she had them heal together, and grieve together, for their lost baby girl. It was so beautiful.

And I thank you Ms. Adair for the epilogue!!!! It helped wrap up the story.

I still wish that she had of brought Case and the Cutter brothers together. They've had this rivalry the whole series and I want something! Case's widowed sister-in-law is marrying the youngest Cutter. While it was acknowledged that Rydell and Addy would go to the wedding, we didn't get to see it. I want to see them come together and eventually work things out. Not necessarily becoming besties, but putting their rivalry away. I left off a star, because I really really wanted to have this wrapped up and I was left hanging once again.

Aside from that, this books was great! Probably my favorite one, aside from the very first book.

After reading this book, I want to reread the other books in the series. The first 4 books make Rydell out to be a really bad guy so having this book describe him as an "honorable man" was hard to adjust to. I would have liked the story better if it had been written unrelated to the Cutter series as it didn't really seem to tie to the larger storyline the author had going with the other books. The way the 4th book ended, I expected this one to pick up right where the other one left off.

I feel a little bit like I did at the end of the movie the Sixth Sense where I want to go back and see what the previous interactions between the Cutters and Rydell really involved. Could Rydell have really just been misunderstood the whole time? If it really is just misunderstanding, then I would love how this book turns everything around to show another perspective. However, I'm not sure how the storyline of book 4 which I thought had Rydell sending someone to spy on the Cutters for the purpose of stealing their discovery could just be a misunderstanding. I would have liked the book better as part of the series if it addressed the misunderstandings or showed Rydell turning over a new leaf.

I hadn't read the teaser text prior to starting the book and spent the first 2 chapters waiting to see if Rydell would turn out to be the bad guy. Overall, I still liked the book, but I would have preferred it to not star the villain of the other Cutter series books. This story seemed more like a spin-off than an actual part of the Cutter series.

Wow sometimes mothers are just plain too much to deal with.... this book is full of hidden agendas, misunderstandings, lost love, and intrigue.

For leading men, Rydell is on the top of my list. He's intense, broken, deeply in love, and struggling to win back the only woman he will ever love. There is an intensity to his personal story and how he goes about rectifying mistakes that are intentional and unintentional. I loved how focused he was on saving his company and getting his ex back. I heard about him in Stormchaser (Cutter Cay #4) and was curious about his story.

As far as leading ladies go, I'll be honest here and say that I really didn't like Addison even though I understood her hurts. There was such a hardness in her that I couldn't understand. Towards the end of the book I finally connected with her and I was thrilled with how quickly she understood what happened to end her marriage and how she confronted everyone involved to find her personal resolution. Then I got to see the amazing women Rydell loved. the author did an outstanding job in this character both in the beginning and end of the book.

This book was filled with many twists and turns and because of the personal interaction between Rydell and Addison I give this 4 STARS.

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Having recently read Stormchaser, the previous book in this series,I was hesitant to read a book where the hero of this book was the villain in the last book. Rydell Chase has been the nemesis of the Cutter's since the first book. However, Rydell is not what he has been portrayed and perceived. He has lost one salvage ship to hijackers, and his prize ship to his ex-wife in the divorce settlement, his court case to the Cutter's and is nearly broke. She can't sell the ship without his approval and he convinces her to allow him to take one last salvage trip on the way to Sydney where she has a buyer waiting. Rydell is hoping to win Addy back but their history and loss may be too much to overcome. I don't really understand how the animosity between the Cutter's and Rydell continues when their families are so intertwined, but I am guessing that is for another book to resolve.
I would recommend reading this series in order. Some nice plot twists and likable characters make this an enjoyable read.

It's the worst year Rydell Case has ever had. The Cutters tied him up in court, his boat Sea Dragon was hijacked & sunk, and his wife Addy, for no reason he could think of, served him with divorce papers. Well, he needs her yacht,Tesoro Mio, to dive the wreckage he has mapped out. She retained it in the divorce, but technically it's "theirs".
Addison D'Marco Case is no fool. When their daughter Sophia dies of SIDS she leaves Ry message after message. When he doesn't respond, she files for divorce. Luckily her former boyfriend, Prince Naveen Darshi is there for her, to pick up the pieces and comfort her, helping her through her grief. They are again close.
Ry talks Addy into letting him push back her plans of a trip to Sydney by a couple weeks to let him dive, & hopefully recover the silver bars on the ocean bottom. But they discover someone has interfered too keep them apart. Will Ry get Addy back?
Remember, this is the worst year Ry has ever had. Think guns, bad guys, lies, deception, & LOVE!

I would like to list this as fa 3.5 star rating. While the book was engaging and faster paced, however at the beginning it was difficult to stay interested. Over using the same word almost every paragraph was a little excessive. While the word does not bother me just need to think outside of the box, as a writer a thesaurus is your best friendAdditionally, early on and continuing throughout the first half of the book you could tell a word count was needed. The same thing was said multiple times in multiple ways, I got want you said the first time don’t need it repeated over and over. At the end of the book in the last 35-40 pages there were some errors on spelling of names. While I understand this is to be done by editors and publishers, it is important to at least get the names spelled correctly.

Over all I did enjoy the book as a whole, not sure I would read any others in the series. While this was book 5 I did not feel I needed to read the first 4, this worked as a stand-alone.
