Fabrian Books' feel good novels are heart-warming romantic stories that leave you believing a happy ever after does exist.
Dr Evie Daniels has recently lost her mother. Unable to save the person she loved most in the world, she considers giving up medicine altogether; especially when her fiancé is unable to understand her grief. Instead she decides to leave her life in London and fulfil her promise to her mother to see as much of the world as possible. Her first stop is to escape to the wilds of the Scottish highlands and a job as a locum in the remote town of Balloch Pass. It’s only ever meant to be the first step on her journey, though, a temporary job she has no intention of sticking with. There’s a whole world to see and a promise to fulfil, after all.
But she doesn’t expect to be working with someone like Dr Alasdair James - a hometown hero - whose own life changes beyond all recognition when his best friend dies and leaves him guardian to two young children. With enough drama in their personal and professional lives to fill a medical encyclopaedia, they soon develop a close friendship. Can it ever go beyond that when Evie’s determined to see the world and Alasdair has commitments at home he just can’t break? Or are they destined to be forever in the wrong place at the wrong time?
What a lovely story, a little see through, I guessed the ending about a third of the way through but that did not detract from the story in any way.
Evie has left London after her Mother passed away and after she broke up with her fiancee. Intending to travel the world and do all the things her Mum and she had said they would, she ends up in the Highlands of Scotland where she is working in a doctor's surgery as a locum GP.
Things don't go to plan though when she realises she's working for a young Doctor who has important, real reasons for wanting to stay in Scotland.
There is a twist towards the end which I didn't see coming. One which could spell the end of Evies dream.
Will Evie and Ben work out a way they can be together or are they destined to be apart.
This brought a tear to my eye. .. well worth s read. I've already downloaded the next book.
I'd never read this authors work before, I now want to read everything she's written.
What a tremendous romance. Not to sweet or mushy but just right. Terrific characters that enable you to live their hopes, dreams and tragedies whilst reading. She had promised her mother that she would do her best to fulfil her mother's dreams of travel. Now with the funeral behind her and her boyfriend proving what a selfish clod he was, she has started to live the dream. Okay she had only gone as far as Scotland but landing the job of locum her was a start. Watch as she merges into the life of the residents and finds herself falling for the doctor that runs the surgery. Will they become friends or more? Will they start to open up to each other especially about the need he has to stay here as guardian of the children of his best friend?
A lovely light read for a quiet afternoon or two. Well rounded storyline. I would love to be friends with Evie and all the way through kept hoping for the best after her sadness. A sweet read. My first Jo Bartlett and will not be my last. I would reccomend this book as a lighthearted pause in our busy lives.
Well rounded light-hearted and emotional read. A delightful story that takes you through the ups and downs of true love.
Another beautiful book by Jo Bartlett! I am a great fan of Jo Bartlett and I loved this fabulous, sweet, romantic story so full of twists and turns til the end. Is there going to be a sequel? We cannot be left without knowing what is going to happen in the happy ever after! I hope this is just the first of a new series.
I did like this book. The story was lovely and so was the setting and the characters were great but what I don't like was the chapters were too long, I do like shorter chapters. Another gripe is sometimes a word was used in place of another like it instead of in and Brontes name was used instead of Evie.
What a lovely story set in the beautiful highlands of Scotland. One of my favourite places I’ve been too. I love a good romantic story and this ticks every box. I’ve read a few of Jo Bartlett’s books and enjoyed every one of them.
I think you're going to enjoy this book because it's full of inspiring stuff that makes sense for healing. The characters are realistic, loyal and likeable. A beautiful written story of the loss of parents and the promises you make is so uplifting and inspiring. As always happy reading
Only 2 errors which registered? Neither important only annoying. America has Girl Scouts, England has Girl Guides. Women are not widowers, they are widows. So not much to criticise, but more to enjoy about the story. Oh - what about the rest of Evie's possessions left with David or perhaps in storage?
Girl meets boy, won't commit. Falls for him starts to run away. Mystery couple break down on way to give birth so she can't get along road ........ So on and so forth. Bit sickly really.
So easy to loose yourself in the story. Once you start you won't want to put it down. Do hope there are further books about the Highland practice so we can join in their adventures.
Ijust loved this book the story of so many people pulled together and helping everyone. It got me thinking of this is how it must be in small village /town community's how they all know and help each other through thick n thin .
Loved this book a fantastic read. I just couldn't put it down. From start to finish. Brilliant author I've read quite a few of her books now. Looking forward to hee next novel.
