Bestselling author Sherry Ewing brings you a new series in Nothing But A Family of Worth, Book One.
They will risk everything for their forbidden love…
When Lady Gwendolyn Marie Worthington is forced to marry a man old enough to be her father, she concludes love will never enter her life. Her husband is a cruel man who blames her for his own failings. Then she meets her brother’s attractive business associate, and all those longings she had thought gone forever suddenly reappear.
A long-term romance holds no appeal for Neville Quinn, Earl of Drayton until an unexpected encounter with the sister of the Duke of Hartford. Still, he resists giving his heart to another woman, especially one who belongs to another man.
Chance encounters lead to intimate dinners, until Neville and Gwendolyn flee to Berwyck Castle at Scotland’s border hoping beyond reason their fragile love will survive the vindictive reach of Gwendolyn’s possessive husband. Before their journey is over, Gwendolyn will risk losing the only love she has ever known.
Bonus material include several blog posts that continue the story from Nothing But Time.

I really enjoyed "Nothing But Time." It was a sweet romantic novel that made me cheer for the forbidden couple. I know it sounds a bit skeptical, cheering for a couple that was not supposed to fall in love. But then again, love comes unexpectedly and at times when one really needs someone to love or be loved. But once I found the reasons for the forbidden love, I couldn't have loved it more. It was beautifully well written and I was extremely satisfied with the way the author wrote this book. It was creative, thoughtful, and original. For the characters, I enjoyed them all. They all played a part in the life of Lady Gwendolyn. She is a strong young woman that had hoped to marry for love. Unfortunately, things did not go as she hoped. The reason I say she was strong and may I add brave, was because she married and tried to be the best that she could be. She did not allow her spirit to be broken. No matter the humiliations and treatment she received. I also loved Neville Quinn, Earl of Drayton. He is the man that our lady Gwendolyn lost her heart too. I certainly cannot blame her. He is a romantic man that certainly loved our lady. If you have enjoyed "If my heart could see you" you will certainly enjoy this novel. Every novel that I have read from the author has been greatly satisfying. I've been allowed to cry, love, and at times become angry. But not for the reasons you may believe so. It all has to do with the way destiny played in their lives. "Nothing But Time" will certainly be on bookshelves for the future read. Yes, I love to reread books, only the ones that were captivating. ENJOY, you will not regret!
I haven't read many historical romance novels because I wasn't sure how each author would do, but diving into this book, I really liked the description so I was pretty excited to read this.
Gwendolyn was weak but had strength as the book went on and I loved seeing her true self come out.
Neville was a goner from the start. He was sweet but also had this dominant presence around him. I loved him and his strange name!
Set in the 1800 I thought the author did an amazing job with how they characters talked and interacted. I haven't researched this time, but I feel that the author did an amazing job with her expectations from that time. I do wish we had gotten more descriptions of clothes, and sites and House decor.
The main thing my found in this book was forbidden romance. She's married to one man but slowly falls for another. I wouldn't really classify it as cheating as some people may but I I think it was more of an emotional friendship she formed and of movedfrom there and I really enjoyed it.
Overall I really enjoyed it. The author did an amazing job and drawing me in and keeping me hooked. I plan to read more from this author in the future. Historical has never been my favorite, but with this author, I think I'll make an exception! 4 stars #2OCCJD
Oh my!!! I just have to say Sherry Ewing you are awesome. This story is about a love that is not to happen, about a marriage of lies, and the wants and desires of others.
Lady Gwendolyn is in a marriage of lies, deceit, abuse and desires. Lies of her husband of 30 years older than her maybe older, is more than she can bare. He own brother of blood forces her to marry a man who knows nothing of honor, love or romance. Her life is not her own any longer but she does what must be done to stay in a loveless, cruel marriage. Then her younger brother introduces her to one man who will change everything about who she is or what she thought was true about herself. Neville Quinn, Earl of Drayton, has been nothing more than a man of honor, and will not compromise Gwendolyn. Until it's too late. They are both trapped in what they cannot undo, nor do they want to undo it. Her husband is vengeful, and has every right to take what is his, even if it is her life. He owns her body and soul. I enjoyed the fact the author intertwined Berwyck Castle in this story. Very smart. I so enjoyed this story, so well written. I was given this ARC for a true review. Thank you so much for the opportunity. I do recommend it, and cannot wait till the next one comes out.
I knew when I opened the first page this would be a great story. Of course I was not disappointed because Sherry Ewing is a master of drawing the reader in and not letting go until the end. This is the tale of the arranged marriage of a young girl, Lady Gwendolyn to a man old enough to be her father. It was actually her father who had sealed the deal prior to his death. Determined to make the best of it, she really had no chance because her husband was very cruel and had some secrets problems and blamed her for his shortcomings. In a chance meeting while she is out with her brother, a man happens to meet her eye and they are both struck immediately by each other. Neville, Earl of Drayton is actually a business associate of her brothers and they are introduced that fateful day. Thus an emotional roller coaster begins as Gwendolyn and Neville run into each other and then are put together at times. But what can become of their attraction? She is married after all. Through page after page, I could not wait to find out what happened and at the end my heart smiled for this couple! I truly cannot wait for more in this series to see how some of the secondary characters find their Happy Ever After. Thank you Sherry for another excellent story!
As mention by other reviewers, it's a great introduction to the Worth family series. Sherry Ewing's short story provides a glimpse at Regency-era social morés.
The writing is easy to comprehend. The characters are uncomplicated and the emotional tension creates a fast reading experience. I enjoyed the connection between Gwendolyn and Neville. I thought Gwen exhibited self-assurance controlling the terms of the affair. It was touching to watch respectable Neville confront his frustration for a forbidden love.
I wish the couple spent more time becoming acquainted but that's not possible with secret affairs. Gwen's younger brother surprised me in a negative way.
Strangely, I found the villain interesting. There's no excuse for rudeness or cruelty, however, Lord Sandhurst's jealous reactions appeared realistic. I'm indecisive whether the author explored enough of his backstory. The taboo associated with the character remains a present-day secrecy. His behavior is worth pondering.
I recommend to those who enjoy a non-fluff romance centered around the harsh reality of Regency infidelity. I look forward to the series if the author continues to write stories on the verge of respectability.
What great story from Sherry. A young woman forced into a loveless marriage to repay her father's debt and a brother who unmercifully enforces that marriage. The Duke was cruel, abusive and unforgiving, never happy, I'm not sure he knew what happiness was and treated her like chattel. She endures, unhappily so until her brothers friend the Duke Neville Quinn who has just unloaded a mistress and has no inclination to get involved again. He tries to resist her, but there are reasons for this forbidden love. It made the book so much more. The two of them Gwendolyn and Neville meet here and there by chance then that turn into intimate dinners forces them to the flee Berwyck Castle (loved being back at the castle) and that sets off en enraged Duke Bernard to set about bringing her back. I loved the twists and turns in this book. Especially when Neville meets his match with Gwendolyn. Sherry has such a great writing style and manages to pull you right into the story from page one. So worth the read!
Nothing but time by Sherry Ewing a fabulous four-star read. This is the first book in the Family of Worth series, it’s also the first book by this author I have read, but I will be going back to read some more. We meet Lady Gwendolyn Mary Worthington after she has realised that she is set to be married to a man much older than her after her farther made a business deal that included it, and after his passing her brother has taken over the details and is making sure the details are adhered to. Just a short few weeks later she finds herself in a loveless marriage. Just when life feels like its ending, she meets an associate of her brother and has feelings that she shouldn’t be having as a married woman for him. This leads to a passionate romance, and a love that you can see coming off the page. A very well written romance, set in a time period I don’t usually enjoy, but thoroughly enjoyed this example.
What happens when you're forced to marry a man twice your age? A man that is cruel and unforgiving? A man that you are not in love with and can never see yourself marrying?
You settle. You accept this is your life. You accept that you will never find love.
What if everything you know changes when you do meet someone that you can fall in love with? When that person is not your husband? When that person is not part of the arranged marriage that your brother forced on you?
An amazing story of what happens when life doesn't go according to plan.
What an amazing story of a triangle of trouble, unhappiness and romance. Gwen is a young lady married to Sandhurst who is a lecher and old enough to be Gwen's father. There was trouble in the marriage from the beginning and Sandhurst blamed Gwen for everything. Her life was miserable. Sandhurst kept her close to him and did not let her make calls or receive her best friend. Gwen heart is a tender one, being abused by her husband and she did not know how long she could take it. When she met Neville, they had an instant connection. Though they tried to keep it at a friendship level they could not. Gwen had run away to Scotland with Neville to avoid Sandhurst's plans of a honeymoon aboard his boat. Sandhurst finally came to drag Gwen back but without her brother's consent he would have to wait, or would he? He abducted her and kept her on a boat for about a month. Sandhurst was seriously ill. They returned to London for him to recuperate but with his dying breath he cursed her and Neville's future that he would always be with her and never let her go. The mourning period was excruciating for both Gwen and Neville as they did not want to shame their family or provide fodder for gossip. They had to wait till the mourning period was over. It wasn't until an old acquaintance of Neville and Gwen's best friend gave them both the same advice. Don't wait to be happy. An emotionally moving story that had a bittersweet ending.

I enjoyed this historical romance story with the two main characters that were Lady Gwendolyn Marie Worthington and Neville Quinn, the Earl of Drayton. And also the rest of the characters to.
Lady Gwendolyn Marie Worthington is being forced to marry a man that is close to her father age. After marriage to this man he started to blame her for his own failure to preform the marriage right. But there might be hope for love in her future when she meets her brother's business associate.
Neville Quinn, the Earl of Drayton was not expecting to find love in his future until he meet the sister of an Duke. But there is a problem the women that he has fallen for is all ready married. But with the help of her other brother there might be a chance.
The was a fun story to read. Was not expecting the twist at the end of this story it was very surprising.
I received a complimentary copy via Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
Lady Gwendolyn is to be married to a man as old as her father to pay a debt. Her husband is impotent and a bully’s which leaves the Lady very sad. Her brother, the younger of two, tries his best to bring a smile back to her lovely face by introducing her to his business partner, Lord Drayton. The two are immediately enamored of each other. As they are drawn together, Lord Sandhurst, Lady Gwendolyn ‘s husband, becomes angered by her every move and reacts accordingly. Lady Gwendolyn runs away and has Lord Drayton accompany her to her family’s country home. Lord Sandhurst pursues and abducts her. He takes her to one of his ships and keeps her at sea for a period of time as he slowly gets more and more ill. All good stories have a good outcome and this one is no exception.
I have mot read this series in order but enjoyed very much. The Duke of Hartford has to keep the marriage agreement for his sister that his father made before his death. Gwen is so unhappy but goes through with it. She meets Lord Drayton when out with her family and they fall for each other as soon as they meet. Her husband is an old man but he has her fallowed and then comes for her and the husband takes her out to sea but he gets seasick and finally she sees that they get home. he husband dies. She goes into mourning and does what she must to keep her family's reputation honorable. They are both suffering but eventually they are able to be married and never looks back.
Lady Gwendolyn is forced into a marriage with a loathsome, abusive man by her older brother. Then she meets her younger brother's business associate, Neville Quinn, and falls in love. Will this couple have patience to wait for each other without causing a scandal after the cruel husband becomes ill, then dies? I appreciated the regency flavor of this story about forever love, tested by time. And I love this author's books.

A fantastic stand-alone book, set in the 18th Century beginning with the typical scenario of a young miss forced to wed a man old enough to be her grandfather but the evolving events are quite different from other books I have read. Plot twists and turns, trials and terror will happen before Gwendolyn will find her happiness. There is also a wonderful nod to the previous 11th Century Knights of Berwick stories, which readers of those novels will enjoy, as Gwen is a direct descendent.
Forced to marry a much older man, Lady Gwendolyn's life is very dark and unhappy. Meeting Neville, Earl of Drayton, brings a ray of sunshine and love into her life. Never has he loved a woman like her. Never before has she given her heart. A forbidden love in a hopeless situation. Time maybe all they have. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Highly recommended. I have fallen in love with this series and the books by Sherry. Without giving away , I will say if you love romance and historical books , then this is a book for you. A must read. Could not put it down.
Although a bit softly romantic for my personal taste, the author did a great job of spinning a good tale that keep me turning pages... And happy to see there are other stories!
The first book in the A Family of Worth series a well written story that kept me turning pages. I enjoyed reading Lady Gwendolyn Marie Worthington, and Neville Quinn the Earl of Drayton's story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Intriguing and entertaining historical read. This story is full of drama with lots of twists and turns. Interesting characters help tell the story. Hard to put this one down.

In London 1808 Lady Gwendolyn Marie Worthington is 20 and is being forced to marry Lord Bernard Sandhurst as part of a business deal that her father engineered before his death. Gwendolyn is horrified to marry the man who is the same age as her father and repulses her greatly.
As a wife Gwendolyn is kept away from her best friend Calliope but manages to spend some time with her favorite brother, Brandon. Brandon then introduces Gwendolyn to Neville Quinn, the Earl of Drayton, who Gwendolyn is attracted to.
But as feelings emerge between Gwendolyn and Neville, they have no idea the extent that Bernard will go to keep Gwendolyn as his wife and avoid any backlash with his own "performance" issues. Will Gwendolyn be able to protect those she loves from a man who is willing to go to any length to get what he wants?
This was a great historical fiction love story about trying to find the light in life after being forced to marry someone that repulses you.
I felt so bad for Gwendolyn right from the beginning and was so mad at her brother, Edward Gerard Worthington, 9th Duke of Hartford for making her marry Bernard. I knew that there was a financial reason but he still made his sister pay the price for mistakes their father made. She tried to make the best of it but due to certain other factors she was definitely struggling to find any glimpse of happiness.
Gwendolyn's other brother, Brandon, could see her struggling and introduced her to Neville so he could smile again. Neither Gwendolyn nor Neville was willing to get involved while she was married but they definitely enjoyed their time together and really got to know each other. Yet when Gwendolyn faced a crisis she turned to Neville for help which resulted in the two becoming much closer.
I hated Bernard and how cruel he was to Gwendolyn for his own issues. He was a vile man and it is no surprise that he had problems. I was so mad for what he did to her both physically and mentally and he got what he deserved for sure.
I loved the friendships in the book and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Alas poor Lady Gwendolyn. Through the missteps of a thoughtless father and unsympathetic brother she is trapped in an arranged marriage, the worst sort of degrading and abusive situation. Her situation is all too plausible, and a true picture of the ugly downside of the Regency period. She cannot get out of the cage in which she has been imprisoned. Readers will have no problem feeling for her pain. Falling in love with a man utterly different from not only her repulsive husband but also her hapless brother does not help. It simply makes her condition harder to endure.
Neville Quinn, Earl of Drayton, admires Gwen's integrity and her courage in the face of her hopeless situation. He longs to help—he longs to make her his—but Gwen's loyalty to family and her own sense of morality stand in the way. His generosity and tender care, a new experience for Gwen, eventually melt her reservations. Sooner or later they attempt a runaway affair only to face roadblocks on every side.
The central characters are well rounded. Neville is a strong hero and easy to admire. I couldn't help wishing Gwen would just stand up to the husband or at least tell her oldest brother more about her marriage, but, of course, that would be reading 21st century attitudes into a 19th century problem. A married woman was, in fact, left with no options.
The primary secondary characters are the odious husband and the main characters' brothers. The younger brothers are sympathetically portrayed and candidates for books of their own. I found Gwen's oldest brother, however, to be utterly unlikable at the beginning, and I didn't care much more for him at the end either, when he continues to put social standing ahead of his sister's happiness.
The book is a well-paced take on the Regency novel, one that takes the unusual step of looking beyond the gowns and ballrooms at the reality many women faced.
Cute read time jumps and lapses throw you off a bit. Kinda got irritating with the whining and constant doubt. Lady Gwendolyn Marie Worthington is past due so to say on marriage. Her dad has arranged for her to be married to a man who could be her father. Since her father passed her brother is now telling her she has no choice but to marry her off. She has no idea the debt he has paid to have. Bernard is a cruel man who has not had a happy marriage before and is skeptical this one will be faithful to once she finds out he can not do his one manly duty in bedding his wife or anyone for that fact. Lady Gwendolyn is in a horrible marriage till her youngest brother sets forth to give her a little happiness in her duel life.
Neville Quinn Earl of Drayton has been a player of sorts. Hes not looking for a wife. When he spots Lady Gwendolyn hes drawn in to how innocent she is. When he meets her face to face he cant help but feel something between them. Her brother sets up for them to meet asking Neville to make her happy if only for a few hours. He wants his sister happy and wants her to live a life she never had to fall in love.
The thing is the do fall in love and she married with no way out. He will NOT let her go. He will not have another failed marriage. Another unfaithful wife. So whens she decides to run off with Neville. Her Husband sets forth a plan to take her and stow her away from everyone for her being unfaithful. Now she has to endure months out to see with no one to help her till her husband becomes deathly ill and is up to her to stear her course of action. She decides to go home and wait for his death and only tell than and after mourning with she be able to seek happiness again
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the first book in A Family of Worth series and ends in an HEA. The story takes place in Regency England where the Ton rules and the slightest touch can force a marriage. Gwendolyn is forced to marry a man twice her age in order to settle an old debt from when her father was alive. Her brother, Edmond, seemed so cold to do something so horrible to Gwen, but these types of transactions were common for the time period.
>Gwen’s brother, Brandon, notices his friend is attracted to Gwen and she to his friend. Brandon encourages Neville and Gwen by allowing them some alone time. In Regency England, “alone time” is the same thing as “affair”, even if they just make out!
> Gwen’s husband is impotent and blames Gwen. He is abusive and humiliating towards Gwen, especially as she is a virgin forced to overcome her husband’s impotence. I usually dislike cheater stories, but in this case, I was rooting for Neville and Gwen. Gwen’s husband is ultimately responsible for his own downfall after he kidnaps Gwen to keep her from Neville and her brothers. His health is poor and being out at sea only makes his health worse.
> This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. The romance is not of the racy variety, but still romantic. The silly rules of the Ton towards relationships were funny to read. Imagine having to be careful not to touch even a hand in public! I look forward to more in this series. The characters are real and the stories are fun.
Love is patient... this is something Gwendolyn and Neville learn the hard way. Nothing But Time by Sherry Ewing transforms us back to the 1800s. During this time marriages were arranged and unwilling brides had to abide to preserve their family name. This was the case with Gwendolyn-she was promised to a man old enough to be her father. After her father's death her marriage proceeded due to her older brother's insistence. Gwendolyn's husband was old, cruel, controlling, and abusive but lucky for her; he was impotent. Neville was a ladies' man and he made no commitment to anyone. Gwendolyn's younger brother could tell his sister was unhappy in her marriage so why not introduce her to his good friend Neville? Gwendolyn was committed to her husband, not because she loved him, she valued her reputation and her family name. Neville could have any lady he wanted but he's not trying to get involved with a married women. That's until her brother encourages their relationship. Feelings grow between Gwendolyn and Neville but her husband isn't going to be made a fool of and she's going to learn that the hard way. How will she rid herself of this burden of a marriage while keeping her name out of the gossipers mouths? Is her husband going to give her up to the man she loves? Will Gwendolyn and Neville get their happy ever after? Love is patient but how long do you expect someone to wait to be with you?
Nothing But Time is the first book I've read by Sherry Ewing. I truly enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more of her work.
