Pretty ordinary plot on expected lines - a rather hitherto successful companyman is now a stereotypical entrepreneur who meets some early success but has no frigging idea why his startup is subsequently floundering. It takes some so-called experts to help him learn the common sense 101 (what else do you call SWOT, or Maslow's hierarchy, or job descriptions???) so that he could build his business, and along side, there is a generous dose of "psycho-babble stuff".
If entrepreneurs are really that ignorant or naive in figuring out the common sense, the startup is anyways doomed already! I mean, if the only reason one starts a startups because one could develop a cool web page and then extrapolates it to become a global business, obviously we are oversimplifying a lot, aren't we? One would certainly expect a reasonably experienced companyman to know stuff about structures and processes, etc. and not be totally naive about it even when building his own startup, or rather especially when building it. Unless, of course, one hasn't done that kind of stuff, in which case, there are bigger issues of another kind that must be tackled pronto.
Don't waste your time with this book. If you are that stereotypical entrepreneur, reading such a book won't anyway change your mindset. Instead get out and find some solid mentoring and professional help specific to your issues.
I have put 5 stars because this book is explaining an easy way to get out from struggling situation while running a business. I went thru this situation earlier and I was not finding the proper way to identify the issues and the ways to sort them out with working ON the business and not IN the business. The journey of Howard is very inspiring and being coached in business and life simultaneously is a perfect combination for a holistic meaning of life. This book is oriented for entrepreneurs but could be read by anyone who wants to improve his perception of life and taking all events as opportunities to grow in a different direction with keeping in mind his own core purpose. I am going to start another business and this book will be my companion to keep on track !! Thanks Joel, Aryeh and Howard !!
Amazing book which showcase a real life story of a struggling entrepreneur who is helped by a two fantastic mentors. As entrepreneurs there are many of us who are working incessantly on our idea and miss out totally to work on the big picture of our business. The book re-ignited my interest and belief in the power of "systems" to get ourselves back on track when on a failure path. Very practical and tested resources provided with the book to allow every interested person to replicate success holistically without losing one's mental balance.
The fictional story of Howard that was used as an example to learn the lessons of the book was actually a very stressful story to read. Not only did he not know how to grow a business but he barely seemed to know anything about business.
The title and description of the book seem to be for someone looking to rapidly grow their business but 80%+ of the lessons in the book are teaching "101-style" fundamentals, not business growth.
As an existing business owner I didn't learn anything new, but I could see the value for a beginner.

The Mindful Entrepreneur is a great resource for all business owners trying to grow and become better versions of themselves. Balancing work and life, family and business, stress and mindfulness, all play a role in our lives and finding ways to plan for these items can help us get to a better place.
Read this book if you're trying to get from here to there, while also attempting to learn from the journey!
I enjoyed the lessons in this book being presented as a story rather than the typical "how to" format of most books in this genre. Very practical advice that moves along rather quickly. The free resources are an added bonus. This book will make you re-evaluate your Whys and re-assess your Whats.
Personal and business practices you can put into motion immediately
A must read for more seasoned entrepreneurs who feel stuck in the day to day grind and frustrated with their current situation. The importance of understanding daily practices and being purposeful in your life is so important.
Excellent book, presented as a narrative which makes it very relatable. It brings together a number of the better business theories such as Gerber & Sinek, while also addressing the mindset principles of Carol Dwerk. The principles in the book are clear and can be applied straight away in your own business. This one is going to sit on my desk as I put the structure in place around me.
Very inspiring resource to learn for setting up a small business to be successful! I have never loved any book like this one. It gives you clearest guidance on how to go above beyond the bottle neck in running business
This book is quite comprehensive and structured and I think everyone who is in business, whether or not they are unsuccessful will find lot of practices that will help them stay sane and make success a deliberate outcome!
The core business concepts of the book are based on the E-Myth Revisited. However, I have read both books, and this one has a few advantages:
* The Mindful Entrepreneur is written as a story, and it creates a more engaging reading experience (similar to The Goal by Eliyahu Goldrab) * Howard, the protagonist is more relatable than the examples in E-Myth. He doesn't immediately succeed, the honesty of his tribulations feels real * The focus on mindfulness is refreshing. It acknowledges the need for personal wellbeing along with financial success
