An aspiring food journalist and a grumpy cameraman take to the California coast for the biggest foodie event of the year in this sweet third novel in Tif Marcelo’s charming and romantic Journey to the Heart series.

Online food blogger Victoria Aquino has spent years doing social media for True North and Paraiso Retreats, and she’s ready to take her blog and writing to the next level. But after she was catfished and suffered a heartbreak, she’s clamoring for change. She auditions for and accepts a food host opportunity: covering the Labor Day holiday BBQ festivals along the California coast. For eight days, she’ll travel with a producer and a camera and sound person, in a vintage—and rickety—RV, and she’ll get her very first byline as a video journalist. The only catch? She can’t stand BBQ.

And the cameraman also auditioned for the job.

Joel Silva is a cameraman with his own past and big dreams of his own, and when he finds out that the job he auditioned for went to Victoria—a woman he’d gotten to know covering Paraiso Retreats, and someone he later slept with—he’s understandably furious and curious. Joel knows the BBQ circuit like the back of his hand, and he now has to help Victoria do her job amidst their growing attraction.

When the producer picks up on their push/pull vibe and increases the ante to feature both in front of the camera with the best host taking the next cross-country feature, the two have to decide: is their blossoming romance something that should be left to fizzle along with BBQ season? Or is it the beginning of something even more delicious?

West Coast Love by Tif Marcelo
3rd book in the Journey to the Heart series. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Victoria and Joel met when Joel was a cameraman at his previous contract. They coincidentally meet in Las Vegas and agree to a one-time encounter. They surprisingly end up working together and in competition on a traveling video blog. As their relationship extends, they have decisions to make.

A charming story of relationship building, misunderstandings and learning to communicate. I liked this couple much better than the second book. They talked and learned. The couples from the previous two books make an appearance at the end and it’s a sweet reunion. Kind of a wrap up.
I admit I did feel sorry for Victoria and Joel sleeping in tents on the ground while traveling fir the blog but that is probably more about my age than their sleeping arrangements.

🎧 Two person narration by Lola James and Gomez Pugh made this easy to follow and enjoy their romance. A couple of their food descriptions made me hungry!

Wow this book is a hidden gem. I can not believe how a few rating it gets. A romance story of food with RV is a promising road trip. Especially when I can get a Joel by my side.

That man is so sweet and loyal. He is protector of his sister' family. He always put them first before his dream. Victoria is the perfect heroine for him. She is fierce and free spirit. The romance is sweet and not too graphic. Its enough to add the sweetness into the story.

Overall I really enjoy this book.

great read!

What a fun story! This is the first book I have read from this author. I was drawn by the deep connection to family and the overall adventure in an old RV, hitting up the BBQ's. Love the premise!

Vic is a food blogger and has a love of travel and I just really connected with her in this story because she is a lot like me. Bring on a hot, hunky cameraman that adds a bit of competitive spirit to the story and some decidedly steamy hookups! YUMMM

Easy to read with plenty of adventure, mouth-watering foods, sexy scenes, and a sweet HEA that will make you swoon.

Who doesn’t like BBQ? How about me and Victoria, one of the main characters in Tif Marcelo’s West Coast Love. For me that isn’t a problem, but for Victoria who just so happens to be a food blogger, it may present a huge issue.

Victoria Aquino is an online food blogger who is ready to take her blog and writing to the next level. She has managed the social media for True North and Paraiso Retreats for years, but after heartbreak from a catfish incident she auditions to be a food host covering the Labor Day BBQ festivities along the coast of California. After accepting the job, Victoria, the producer, sound person and cameraman take off to cover the event.

Issues arise when the cameraman turns out to be Joel Silva, who she knows from Paraiso Retreats and has history with. Oh, and he auditioned for the host spot too. Joel is furious and their personalities clash, while their chemistry is hot enough to heat the BBQ dishes they’re filming. To add flames to the fire, the producer noticed their animosity and uses it to his advantage. Now they have to decide whether to fan the flames, or let them die out at the end of BBQ season.

This book will leave you salivating and craving BBQ. I mean I don’t even like BBQ, but I am craving it. The food descriptions are scrumptious. Victoria and Joel are interesting characters that conflict in such as way that you can only assume that the passion brewing is going to be combustible, and that it is my friends. Food and passion, and a passion for food, two of the most important things in life.

The history and competitiveness between Joel and Victoria adds a layer to the story. This isn’t a fluffy romance with nothing happen below the surface. There are trust issues between the two and a rivalry that their history makes even more intense. It seems like a fun read, and it is, but there are also some emotional connections happening that give the story depth.

This is the third book in the Journey to the Heart series by Tif Marcelo and even though you do not need to read all the books to understand this one, I recommend it. There are characters from the first two that show up and knowing their stories make their appearances that much better.

This series has been fun because it usually centers around food. I like food. I tend to start craving whatever food the protagonists are eating. I've been known to rush to the kitchen to make biscuits and tea. In this book, it's all about BBQ. And all I wanted to do was eat meat! Damn it.

Victoria, or Vic, (the sister of the heroine in book two), loves to write. She has a blog all about food and also handles the social media for her family's restaurant. After being on television during her sister's reality show, she starts to get the itch to get in front of the camera herself. She learns of an audition for an upcoming host of a food show, and decides to take a chance and try out for it. While she has great a family, her love life is non-existent. She thought she was truly in love with a man named Luke, who she met online, but was catfished when she surprised him with a real life meeting, and met his pregnant wife. Completely devastated, she has sworn off men. But then Joel comes back into the picture.

Joel was a cameraman for that reality show, and got to watch Vic through his lens all day. He fell for her then and by total coincidence, Joel decides he wants to move in front of the camera, and also decides to try out for this show. He sees Vic at the same hotel in Vegas, not knowing they are going for the same gig, and they both have lust for each other. Vic gets the job, and Joel is asked to be a cameraman again  - Joel is bummed, but then he realizes he gets to spend the next week in a RV, "glamping" with Vic as they travel around California filming various BBQ festivals. Vic knows nothing about BBQ and actually doesn't like eating it, Joel loves BBQ - will they get along on the job??

In short - not really.  I mean, they fall in love and have a HEA, but it's not always happiness and stuffing your face with meat in their romance journey. The first half is cute - how these two dance around each other, and act on their attraction. We learn about Joel's adorable relationship with his nephew and sister. We revisit Vic's family and her sisters and their lovely restaurant. We get a glimpse into food festivals and RV camping. All is going great!

But then Vic started grating on my nerves a bit. I know she was crushed by a horrible catfishing, online boyfriend in the past and she is wary. But it was really hard for her to give Joel a chance in the love department. They would have intimate talks about their relationship and Vic seemed to totally forget about it the next day. She lashes out at him and doesn't really give him a fair chance. I'm not saying Joel is perfect. He definitely has faults. He could have opened up more, and asked her about her life more. But it always came back to Vic for me. At one point she confronts her ex, Luke, and spends some time with him. If the positions had been reversed and Joel was hanging out with an ex, Vic would have lost her mind. But instead, she gets mad that Joel felt jealous. Her insecurities and how she handled them came off too cold for me.

But overall I still enjoyed this. I like this family that the author has created. Their dynamics, their love for each other and their passion about food makes me smile.

Tif Marcelo has to be one of my favorite 2017 debut authors. The Journey to the Heart series has been a delightful ride, and I’m absolutely enamored by her writing style and the heartwarming cast. I’m sad that the series has ended with West Coast Love, but no doubt, I will be revisiting them in the future. This book tells the story of Victoria and Joel, two people with a connection who unbeknownst to each other end up auditioning for the same spot as a host on a show that takes them on a road trip across California to a BBQ festival. Only catch? Victoria wins the spot of the host, while Joel is hired as a cameraman. I enjoyed both Joel and Victoria’s character in the book. I love that we get both their POVs here, especially since both are very sympathetic characters with a giant hearts. Victoria has dreams and aspirations, but also falters a lot along the way. She works hard to get where she wants in life, and though that sometimes leads her to being closed off emotionally, she’s a character that we see a lot of growth from. Joel and his kindness also made me swoon hard throughout West Coast Love. I love sweet heroes like him far more than the alpha-male type, so it didn’t take much for me to fall for him. I think what really made me love him was his absolute devotion to his sister and nephew. My heart broke a little for Joel when he didn’t get the host position, but although he doesn’t initially take it all that well, his reaction to it around Victoria is humble and polite. The two of them fit perfectly as a couple, in my opinion. They were both such good people who deserved each other’s pure love. The chemistry is there, the swooniness is there and the romance is most definitely there. What I love about Tif Marcelo’s couples is how we actually get to see and experience them falling for each other, and making each other better. And we certainly see that here with Joel and Victoria. I’ll admit that the two occasionally had some communication issues, but what couple doesn’t? I’ve also got talk about the food element in the book. Let me tell you, I’m not a BBQ person at all, but damn did Tif Marcelo make me hungry here! The food descriptions were just stunning. The one thing that I missed here was seeing more of the family dynamics, especially Victoria’s extended family, but that’s not a huge complaint – I’m just being a greedy reader. 😉 All in all, this was an outstanding ending, and I can’t wait to read more from Tif Marcelo! If you love food, romance, and exciting road-trips with a diverse group of characters, you NEED to check this book out.

This was a fun, flirty sexy read that I found completely entertaining. I loved the characters, the setting, and the humor that runs throughout the story. The writing and character development are excellent making this a wonderful book.

Victoria Aquino is getting her big break. She's been a food blogger for years and now she's getting her chance on TV. So what if this isn't her type of food. Fake it till you make it. Right?? Cameraman Joel Silva can't believe the director bypassed him as host and chose to go with this wannabe instead. Too bad he finds her so attractive and can't help but give her tips to help her through the show. Nor can he help himself when the attraction between them flares to life breaking all the rules. Will they be able to keep things under wraps or will the others find out their secret??

I definitely recommend this one.

This is definitely a book where the characters would have frustrated me less if they had actually talked to each other, but despite that, I really did think that they were well suited and I believe they will be able to make their RV adventures work.

This book was a feel good story full of yummy romance, laughs, and food. Victoria and Joel were two characters a bit lost in their life paths, and they complimented each other so well. The RV living, reality show filming setting was a lot of fun. I enjoyed this novel from start to finish!

Victoria Aquino auditions for an amazing opportunity as a food host covering Labor Day holiday BBQ festivals. However, once she accepts the job, she discovers she'll be working alongside Joel Silva. Spending eight days together isn't so bad, especially when they have such intense chemistry between them. Will Victoria take a chance on Joel, or will their fear of relationships keep them from achieving their happy ever after?

What a delightful and captivating read Ms. Marcelo has delivered in this third book of her Journey to the Heart series where the main characters back stories and the obstacles this couple have to overcome to be together were very entertaining; and the dialogue was compelling and had me really enjoying the chemistry between this couple. The way this story started had me amused by what the heroine is wanting to do. Yet, it seems a little liquid courage and what she's looking to do don't mix. Will she get her way or will she be sent on her way? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine came face-to-face for the first time that had me completely hooked, as the hero does a good job of being a white knight.

Both the main characters were relatable, likeable and I loved every moment they conversed, as Joel has every right to be annoyed by Victoria getting the job over him, especially when she has no knowledge of BBQ and doesn't even like the food. Will he be able to help her get up to speed or will he let her figure things out for herself? Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked how determined she was to do the best job she could, even though she does some things that make the hero mad at her. I also liked that the heroine wasn't afraid of a little competition when things take an interesting turn for this couple. Will Victoria or Joel come out on top? While the hero, he's been through a lot and it's understandable why he's so close to the only family he has left in his sister and nephew. Really, the bond between Joel and his nephew is sweet and I loved the moments when they conversed, as there's plenty of love between them and it's palpable that Joel would do anything for the little guy. I also liked how the hero helped the heroine, even though it's not easy for him to do because he wanted the job as food host.

Overall, Ms. Marcelo has delivered a wonderful read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance nicely-detailed; and the ending had me loving the choice both the main characters make when it comes to their jobs and being together. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as the journey they're taking sounds like it's going to be a very interesting one. I would recommend West Coast Love by Tif Marcelo, if you enjoy the friends to lovers trope, the enemy to lovers trope, or books by authors Naima Simone, Terri Osburn, Virginia Taylor and Mia Sosa.

“...when I'm with him, I forget everything and everyone. The present is enough.”

I can't believe the Journey to the Heart series has finally come to an end. *SOBS* This series sparked my love for foodie romances and now has me craving for more of these types of romances. This was such a bittersweet read for me because on one hand I was excited to get to know more about Victoria and Joel, but on the other I was sad because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to these characters just yet.

In this final installment, we follow Victoria Acquino and Joel Silva who end up having a night of fun in Sin City. What neither of them realize is that they are both in Vegas trying out to be the host for a new feature that involves exploring the BBQ festivals along the California coast. When Victoria ends up landing the part, they both agree to keep things professional and have no hard feelings. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?

West Coast Love had me hooked once I realized that this story involved a road trip! I love road trips, especially in romances because it gives a character a chance to explore who they are and get a new perspective on life. Road trips bring about great character growth and I felt like this journey was just what Joel and Victoria needed. Then we had the food! Just like with the two previous books, West Coast Love involved a lot of food talk. For this book in particular it was BBQ and y'all, I'm a vegetarian but dammit this book made me so hungry.

I loved getting to know Victoria better in this book. She's the baby of the family and everyone is always worried about her so it was great seeing her be off on her own and figuring out which direction she wanted to go when it came to blogging and her career. Joel is a little bit of a grouch but I adore him! I loved Joel's relationship with his nephew and how caring he was. He too does a bit of soul searching in this book and realizes that if he wants move forward in his career, he might need to make sacrifices in order to get there. The romance is a slow burn as these two have been hurt in the past so they don't want to risk going through that again. But the wait is so worth it! West Coast Love was a great ending to one of my series for this year and I can't wait to see what Tif Marcelo has in stores for her readers next. With any hope, her next romance will be as delicious as this one.

What's not to love about a romance centering on BBQ?!

Victoria is a food blogger who has just been tapped to host a show about BBQ. She's probably the only human in the US who doesn't like BBQ. Joel is a cameraman who had also auditioned for the show, and when he finds out Victoria got the job over him, he's less than pleased. Still, as they go along, he can't help but fall for the blogger. Now, if only Victoria was feeling the same for him...

I thought West Coast Love was sweet and charming. And of course the Filipino aspect made me cheer, considering my ethnicity is rarely featured in romance fiction. I've grown to really like Tif Marcelo's writing, and am looking forward to much more from her.

West Coast Love is another heartwarming romance from author Tif Marcelo. I loved Victoria and Joel!

Victoria Aquino is an online food blogger and enjoys sharing her love of food. For years she’s helped boost the family businesses with her social media skills, but now Victoria is ready to follow her own dreams. Still healing a broken heart, Victoria seeks a big change and lands a food hosting gig. This new opportunity can launch her career as a video journalist, but there’s a catch – she’ll be covering BBQ festivals, but hates BBQ. Cameraman Joel Silva has spent years behind the camera and is ready to be in the spotlight. But his dreams are put on hold (again) when the job he auditioned for goes to Victoria. Joel and Victoria met while shooting her sisters reality show, Paraiso Retreats. It comes as no surprise that a one-night stand and one of them losing the hosting gig makes this trip awkward. Now faced in a competition to host the next show, can Joel and Victoria find love and follow their dreams? You have to read West Coast Love to find out the delicious details.

In this third book of the Journey to the Heart series I was overwhelmed again with the emotion of the story. As with the previous books, I felt a strong connection with the characters. Victoria and Joel are at a crossroads in their lives. They realize that they need to take chances to follow their dreams and find true love. Experiencing their highs and lows on their journey created genuine characters whom readers can identify with. Their struggles and fears were identical to how I’m feeling now about my career. This series has felt as if the author was speaking to me directly, not just in the message but in the humor. Author Tif Marcelo had me reminisce of my childhood and our camping adventures. Back then the term “glamping” wasn’t yet created, but we lived it with our RV stocked with a mini black and white TV and our rice cooker. Reading Victoria and Joel’s camping adventures made me smile and brought back fun memories.

West Coast Love is the third book of the Journey to the Heart series but it can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend you read all the books for they each tell a heartwarming story of love and family. Author Tif Marcelo shows readers the strong bonds Filipino families have. As a Filipina-American this series has been a fun and emotional trip down memory lane. Food plays a big part in this series and it will make your mouth water. But it is also the love poured into the meals that will touch your heart. I can’t wait to read more books from this author.

The first thing that pulled me towards West Coast Love was the beautiful book cover. I love the font, the colors, and the photo that graced it. It easily caught my eye and pulled me in. Tif Marcelo is an author I'm not familiar with. Yes you may have noticed this book is part of a series specifically this is book number three. I went into this book blind without reading the first 2. I don't think that ended up putting me at much of a disadvantage. Some story lines were mentioned of other characters that hinted you would know more of their story in detail if you had went in order. Much like many standalone books with intersecting characters in other novels. With all that said it's definitely possible to jump into this book without the others finished and still enjoy it very much.

For all you food lovers out there like me this book is going to have you drooling in no time. You won't even be surprised when the only thing that sounds good after reading this book is some slow cooked BBQ. This book follows Victoria and Joel as they tackle BBQ festivals along the west coast working and traveling together in a old RV. If that alone doesn't set up some problems then their past one night stand and desire for the same job definitely will. I loved how complex these characters were. You really feel like you get to know all the different layers of them as the book goes on. This book never once felt like a surface level romance. Which I think is so common in romance nowadays, so I was super happy about that.

My main complaint I have about this book is it felt a little wordy especially when we were getting peeks at what was going on in their heads. It made it at times feel like it was dragging on and on with no end in sight. Making it hard as a reader to just fly through it. For me it wasn't one of those books were you're like, I can't put it down I have to see what happens next, and I'm the kind of reader who is always searching for that feeling. The kind that has you staying up way to late to finish a book. With all that said it had nothing to do with the plot, the characters, or even the storyline it just has to do with the amount of internal thoughts we were allowed to hear through out the book. Making it fall a little on the slower side.

This may not be the first book I'd recommend, but it definitly falls somewhere on the list and if you
LOVE food why not give it a shot. Who knows this might be your next favorite book.

My Review:
Ready for a foodie-centric road trip in an old RV? Then this is the book for you...hehe.

The premise on this one is really fun. There are four people in this reality food show crew. They have 8 days to hit 5 bbq festivals and do online reports. They are in close quarters which can be really awkward, but to raise the bar of awkwardness, Joel and Victoria slept together AND Victoria beat Joel out for the main reporting job...and this was all before they realized they'd be working together.

This story is a slow brew romance and I'll be honest, it took me forever to read it because I kept falling asleep (it's a crazy time of the year and I'm flat out exhausted, so this is not necessarily a reflection on the story). It's very readable and the characters are interesting, I just couldn't manage to stay engaged with the story (and I really think this is a "me" issue because I can't tell you a single reason why that was except I'm just plain tired). Overall, I definitely enjoyed it.

Like I said, it's an entertaining read. It's been a while since I went RV camping and this book was enough for me to look back on those times with nostalgia and make me a bit more willing to listen to my hubby the next time he says we should buy a camper again...hehe. It's fun to escape on this adventure with the characters.

And note...I adore that Victoria keeps a bullet journal as a bujo lover myself. I found myself wanting to know more about her bujo and the nitty gritty details of her blog...so much love for all that.

But I did like the premise, the characters, and getting to see all the festivals from the very unlikely perch of this rickety old RV.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

The two main characters of West Coast Lover were introduced in book two of the Journey to the Heart series. Victoria is a successful blogger but is at loose ends and is hoping for a fresh start. Joel is a cameraman who goes from project to project. He loves his job but is ready to put down some roots. Both apply for a job touring barbecue festivals and making videos about the experience. They end up traveling together around northern California. Victoria and Joel have good chemistry, but each has a past experience that makes them reluctant to trust their growing feelings. Both characters evolve during the book. They take stock of their lives and make decisions about what they want for the future. The HEA is wonderful. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fairly low angst contemporary romance.

I received a copy of this book and n exchange for an honest review. Even though I requested the opportunity I still wasn't overly enthusiastic about reading this after being disappointed by the last book in the series. Luckily this book was as strong as the first book if not even stronger. I like both of the main characters and the development of their relationship while they each face their own crossroads in their lives. Neither of them are perfect and they both make mistakes on their journey but that just made them more relatable. I only wish the writing weren't quite so good because I am now craving BBQ in the middle of the night.

I'm a sucker for a good road trip story, and this one was a delight. I loved the foodie aspect to it. The banter was great. West Coast love was fun, funny, and sexy. I really enjoyed this book. I did go into without reading the previous books but I don't feel like this took away from the story. In fact I'll probably go back and read the other stories in this series. This book will leave you more and probably craving BBQ.

Loved the idea for this story. Road tripping with a tv crew to visit BBQ festivals along California's coast. Having lived in California my entire life I enjoyed reading about local cities and creative restaurant names. Glamping has now become something I must do! This was a funny smart romantic story with realistic characters and an amazing adventure. My first book from Marcelo and I really enjoyed it. My copy came from Netgalley and my review written voluntarily.

What I liked most about this series was the consistency in the author's voice. There was a little cross-over from book to book, but not so much that each couldn't be a stand-alone. Each book featured one couple. Each couple was distinctly different even though there was a family connection and there was a military connection for each. Every book was unique -- the characters, the settings, the experiences. Very nice debut series. Looking forward to more.

There was some frustration with how little communication between the hero and heroine for most of the book but overall, I enjoyed the book. Vic and Joel were great characters with great chemistry but there were times in this quick read where I wanted to shake some sense into both of them. Still, an enjoyable read.

Victoria is starting fresh after a broken heart. She is auditioning to be a host for a bar-b-que travel show. Joel, who worked for her family’s show as their cameraman is trying out for the same spot. They meet up in Vegas and have an instant connection. Now they need to navigate their new roles with the show and learn to trust. A lovely story with a nice twist ending.

This novel is exactly what a romance should be full of, engaging characters, interesting setting and steamy romance. I should correct that to very steamy romance. Wow.

I've read all three in the series but this one was my favourite. Highly recommend.

A copy was provided by the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed the last book in this trilogy of food themed romances centering Filipina heroines! I have been waiting for Vic's book since the first book (I fell for her as a character very early on), though especially after the second book, and I was so pleased I liked it so much. It was a comfort to me on a hard day.

This more than any of the other books feels like an older NA. Vic is young, a social media manager and a successful food blogger, and trying to figure out her next steps after she got catfished by a man she thought she was in love with. She hasn't been able to blog, and she feels lost, so she jumps at the chance to host a reality TV show that's road trip based. There's just one catch: its all about BBQ, and she hates BBQ. Joel is equally lost and trying to find direction, and was hoping to be the host of the very same show, only they hired him as cameraman instead. He's pissed that Vic got the job, because he adores BBQ as much as Vic hates it and thinks he should have been hired. This is such a classic NA hate to love romance arc, that's as much about them figuring out their direction and goals as it is about them coming together as a couple.

This has some lovely other elements to it, as the characters have a history, of a hot one night stand that was supposed to stay that way but can they keep their hands off each other? The BBQ and TV elements are both hilarious and sweet, the 8 day marathon is a fabulous whirlwind, and I fell hard for the secondary characters, especially Joel's sister, and Tara, the TV show's director. I especially liked the moment where Vic takes Joel to her family's restaurant. I loved seeing the characters from the other books again, and loved watching this couple try to find their footing in that new setting.

I admit, I love BBQ and would have loved a book that centered it that wasn't so descriptively anti-BBQ. It was a great premise for a story, but it didn't make me hungry, which is what I look for in a food-themed romance. I don't favor stories that center heroines who are mostly not doing things they are competent at, especially if the hero is very competent at those very same things. It makes for dramatic rivalry but it's a difficult read for me because of the power dynamic it sets up. That got disrupted some in the course of the novel, which I was grateful for.

The pacing is lovely, if a bit of a whirlwind. The characters are compelling and grabbed me right from the start. I was rooting for them, and really enjoyed the fact that I could not see how it could work out, how they could get their happy ending, what that might be. Loved going through the twists and turns and taking that journey, trusting it would happen. When it did, it felt right. I was glad for that.
