The debut novelette, book 1 of a trilogy, revolving around the lives of three sisters of Guthrie who face the travails of life with an incomparable zest that set them apart.
The Poet’s Lover is a story about the youngest of the sisters, Katherine Blake, who at the age of twenty-five, set her sights on the dashing poet, James Madison, a known rake who was rumored to have a dark side. Instead of scaring her away, Katherine embraced the challenge and set out to capture his heart.
She had been dreaming about the poet who inhabited the library once a week to lure the women of Guthrie there with his evocative words.
James Madison took but a second to agree to accepting the innocent looking beauty's request for private lessons . . . poetry lessons. He had a dominant nature and the lessons she would learn would change her forever Would Katherine submit to his demands that if ever discovered, could shatter her reputation?
“Isn’t it a universal truth that it’s our singular experiences and passion, for whatever thing or things, which molds us all into the individuals we become? Whether it's hidden in the depths of our soul or exposed for all to see?”
Linzi Basset is a South African born animal rights supporter with a poet’s heart, and she is also a bestselling fiction writer of suspense filled romance erotica books; who as the latter, refuses to be bound to any one sub-genre. She prefers instead to stretch herself as a storyteller which has resulted in her researching and writing historical and even paranormal themed works.
Her initial offering: Club Alpha Cove, a BDSM club suspense series released back in 2015, reached Amazon’s Bestseller list, and she has been on those lists ever since. Labeling her as prolific is a gross understatement as just a few short years later she has now been published over a hundred times.
“I write from the inside out. My stories are both inside me and a part of me so it can be either pleasurable to release them or painful to carve them out. I live every moment of every story I write. So, if you're looking for spicy and suspenseful, I'm your girl... woman... writer... you know what I mean!"
Linzi believes that by telling stories in her own voice, she can better share with her readers the essence of her being: her passionate nature; her motivations; and her wildest fantasies. She feels every touch as she writes, every kiss, every harsh word uttered, and this to her is the key to a never-ending love of writing.
Ultimately, all books by Linzi Basset are about passion. To her, passion is the driving force of all emotion; whether it be lust, desire, hate, trust, or love. This is the underlying message contained in her books.
Her advice: “Believe in the passions driving your desires; live them; enjoy them; and allow them to bring you happiness.”

Have to say I really liked this, it is definitely not my usual (1908) but Linz just gave it that modern edge to keep me page turning. I will definitely be grabbing the next in the series as soon as it becomes available.
If like me you love a dominant hot male who goes after what they want it is a definite must read from a great author who knows exactly how to captivate her readers
This was an enjoyable story with passion, bondage and of course poetry. It seems James and Katherine were truely meant for each other. I can't wait to see when Katherine's sisters and James's cousins get their stories told.
A change from the norm but oh so good! I have been a fan of this author for years. This book was a departure from her normally suspenseful books, but it was one that provided a romantic tension that was poetry to my soul. A fast, very satisfying read - can’t wait to see how the other sisters are handled!
Not a big fan of the story. If started out ok...but then I have a serious problem with the ex sneaking into the H’s room and being there when the h just happens to walk in trope. Ugh. Please.
I enjoyed this book. It was a story about a woman who was interested in Poetry, or shall we say the gentleman who held the readings. But James was more interested in the woman herself. It’s a quick read, steamy, sexy and a wonderful story.
Linzi Basset never fails to grab my attention with her words and evoke so many emotions whether it is love, lust, anger, or fear. The Poet’s Lover cloaked with these emotions and so much more. I loved that Katherine Blake and James Madison’s story was in a historical setting and contained all the appropriate signs of that time. Never miss an opportunity to read one of Linzi’s books. Must Read
This book definitely has a pep in it's step, very up beat which had me engaged as to what was to come. With the spit fire female character Katherine, to the very noble yet dominant James. Linzi (Izza Bellz) does an amazing job with her characters connection, saucy banter and.... heated...well I'll leave that for you to read.
I enjoyed this story greatly, even had a total book withdrawal when my kindle battery died at a very intense scene. The era that this story is written, you can almost see it within your mind as you go a long. Linzi has this way with her story that had me smiling throughout, my emotions I'm sure we're splayed across my face as I read it. Did I forget to mention there is some poetry within... I would definitely recommend reading The Poet's Lover.
Absolutely loved this book! Wish all 3 books were out. Characters you'll love if you're like me. Fiery and sassy Katherine then Poet and dominant James. It makes a great book when you throw in a money grubbing ex! a definite must read!
