Well, well, I thought I was reading a shonen manga, you know, for "young boys". I guess young boys are all about hentai now? WTF Mashima?! Turning his manga into an extreme genre of hentai, seriously?! As if the fan service wasn't enough already! Disgusting!! I know I already disliked FT but after reading the latest chapters i was surprised. Hate it now! The mangaka liked to answer the fans questions concerning the virginity of the characters in a very weird way.
The repetitiveness and the overpowered MC seem like a bliss now!
4.5/5 Is there really only 3 volumes left? I've been at this series for quite awhile it feels great that I'll actually finish it.
The highlight here is Erza and Lucy taking on Irene, Queen of the dragons. Though the fight doesn't finish this volume it really is the main event. Wendy has become more and more impressive these last couple arcs which is excellent. I've always like Erza as well but I feel like until here she hasn't had much development for many volumes.
Prior to that we have Sabre Tooth duking it out with Larcade who turns out to be Zereff's son somehow. It's not as good as some of the other battles this arcade though it is nice to see Sting, Rogue, and Minerva get to do some serious battling.
All the while Natsu is lost in his heart having parts of his past revealed to him. I'm really enjoying this arc. It's very exciting and action packed as a good final arc should be.
Irene, Lucy, Wendy, Sting, and Larcade on the cover of volume 60.
In this volume we see Erza and Eileen's past and by past I mean 400 years ago, I get it, Eileen had it rough, but that doesn't forgive what she's done, especially considering that she's trying to kill poor Erza. And it doesn't explain why she's so adamant to fight against those from Ishgar, especially Fairy Tail. The only thing that I can think of is that she's jealous of all humans (you'll understand if you'v read chapters 514 and 515. And I think that she might also be working for Zeref because he kind of helped her and she was impressed with his magical knowledge.
Yes I know, there was lots of fan service, but at this point, I don't care, all I care about is story progression and character growth and that's what we're getting. I hate that people stop reading this series and hate on it just because it's ecchi and sometimes it is a bit much. It's still a good story and the characters are awesome! And these girls are actually strong women, they are not just physically strong, they are mentally strong and relatable, which is far more important than just physical strength. More manga and books need to have female characters like Erza, Mira, Lucy, Wendy, Bisca, Mavis, Kagura, etc.
Plus there are other ecchi anime that are even more ecchi, like Highschool DxD (which has lots of panty shots and boobs every few minutes), I still enjoy that anime though. At least Fairy Tail rarely has panty shots and the ecchi stuff doesn't happen every minute.
Overall, things have gotten really intense. I can't wait until the anime comes back and we can see this arc animated and in colour.

Acnologia ganz vorne an. So ganz nebenbei.

On verra !
ENG I'm going to talk about volume 56 to 63; no spoilers don't worry ! Some scenes (especially in the 56) just ENERVOUS me, and I really couldn't stand it, I had to take a mini-break ! I must admit that the last two volumes were very good; we saw/re-saw certain characters. Quite a few fairly predictable things, but that's okay ! I'm pretty "frustrated" because I didn't get everything I wanted, but other than that I'm pretty happy with the end. I will not speak of the eternal "fan-service", that, I just can't take it anymore !!!! I know there is technically a sequel, I still hesitate to dive into it, at least for the moment ! We'll see ! A page turns, a book closes; it was a nice read.
More revelations...as we discover just who Irene is that Erza has been battling along with the backstory. As stated in the most recent reviews...we have fan service for the sake of fan service, but it does not detract from the story...but it does draw your eye. ha ha ha Meanwhile, Lucy does all she can to save Natsu. The Irene backstory makes you feel sad for her, but her cruelty (in my opinion) simply shows that evil begets evil, and the only cure is love. There are indeed some twists to this volume but as always art is stellar (Thank you Hiro Mashima for consistent quality), and the end is definitely within site. (Though I thought that before I know there is very little left of the tale to tell.)
As the time draws near for whatever end might come to Fairy Tail, we learn many important details that have heavily shaped the future of the guild, Ersa, and dragon slayers. As Natsu is succumbing to his injuries, his mind starts to unlock many of his childhood memories he unknowingly forgotten. At the same time, the mystery surrounding Scourge is unveiled and it changes everything.
I really enjoyed this volume a lot and I loved the dual perspectives we got on the history being explained throughout the volume. Idk why I didn’t connect with this as much but I really enjoyed the Scourge battle and the role both Ezra and Wendy play.

Well, that got really weird really fast. In this volume, we meet Erza's mother, who was the original dragon slayer, and the creator of dragon slayer magic. She became a dragon and carried Erza inside of her for more than three years as a human, and then four hundred as a dragon. And then she tried to kill her so she could live again as a human. Weird. Important I suppose for the background of the dragon slayers, but I personally never wondered where the magic for that originated from, so I just found it weird.

Lot of backstory in this one (strange considering how late in the game we are for that). Nice to see the connection between Erza and Wendy. Great to see Sabertooth win one, and I liked especially how they won and who they one against as it made sense thematically and logically considering the Twin Dragon Slayers' magic.

In this part of the story we take a look into the dragon slayer past and you see how cruel life was for them when there is evil it will take everything to stop it .
