Lee has only heard rumors of the Thistlestane family curse. Several of Dick's relatives have met violent deaths. Dick fears the same fate for him and his sister, Jane. After a shrill cry in the night sets off a commotion in the house, Dick is certain someone is out to get him. Before Lee's visit ends, Dick makes him promise to watch out for Jane.
News reaches Lee that Dick was killed by his German Shepherd, but Lee doesn't believe that at all. Returning to Thistlestane, Lee is determined to protect Jane and discover the logical truth behind his friend's death. Was the killer an animal? A man? Or something else?

What a mystery
I don't know if this is a mystery or a supernatural thriller. What I do know this is a good book. Now if you can remember those old films set in a creepy mansion. That is what you have got here the plot centers on a family curse that has been around for over fifty years. The main character is tasked with protecting the sister of a friend from the curse. As I read this book I felt like I was watching one of those old movies. The dialogue is right out of the 1930's and gets into the time frame. Sometimes old is better. Oh watch for the Scooby-Doo ending.

interesting
This story is creative but the language is dated and the action moves at a snail’s pace. I didn’t guess the end so it was a surprise.
