Donut Mystery 28, Mixed Malice, From New York Times Bestselling Author Jessica Beck!
During the remodeling of Donut Hearts after a big ice storm damaged the place, contractor Snappy Mack is found murdered inside the shop, and Suzanne and Jake must find the killer before he strikes again. As they search through the remnants of the contractor’s life, they soon realize that too many folks had a reason to want to see Snappy dead, and sorting it all out is going to be no easy task.
Jessica Beck is a pseudonym used by Tim Myers. Jessica Beck is the penname of an author who has been nominated for the Agatha Award and named an Independent Mystery Booksellers Association national bestseller nearly a dozen times.
Jessica Beck loves donuts, and has the figure to prove it. It's amazing what people can convince themselves is all in the name of research! For each recipe featured in the donut mysteries, a dozen more are tried and tested.
When not concocting delicious treats, Beck enjoys the rare snowfalls near her home in the foothills of North Carolina.
For the entire book, I had to read about Snappy Mack. What a name. Once again, Suzanne shows herself to be a self-centered, judgmental piece of work--LOL! She meets a woman at a door and decides she's a hussy. She's mean to the contractor for no discernible reason. She walks around like she's so cool solving mysteries but she doesn't really solve anything. She just stumbles into things, announces things, and then it's the end of the book. It's not a very satisfying read!
An ice storm and a large tree caused a large hole in the roof and inside walls of Donut Harts. The only person available that can do repairs is soon found murdered- inside Suzanne’s shop.
It seems that during the course of starting the repairs a very old secret has been revealed and a long standing mystery will have to be solved by Suzanne and her crew of amateur sleuths.
Reading this book was such a continuation of book 27 it was very easy to continue the story in my mind as I read it. Each book takes take place over such a short period of time it feels like you are reading a diary of daily happenings in this quaint little town.
When the contractor renovating Suzanne's donut shop is found murdered, Suzanne and Jake along with Phillip and Momma investigate to find the killer. Another great book with recipes!
I'm so glad the donut shop gets done. I don't like the close call Suzanne and Jake have to go through together, nor do I like not knowing what happens to those jewels yet! Enjoy!
The murder has to be solved quickly, and they do with a mix of fairly well drawn characters both regular and new. A great climax,as well. The chili recipe looks worth trying also.
Grace wasn’t in this book but it was still fun to read. For me there weren’t enough twists and turns. The ending was too easy and predictable. I look forward to reading the next one.
This time Jake is out of town and it is up to Suzanne and her friends to solve the murder that happened in her own Donut Shop! Another fun mystery in the Donut Shop Mystery Series!
Typical, fun cozy. After reading all of the other books in this series, this one follows along quite nicely. No real surprises, but still an entertaining read.
