Look you would not wish this problem on anyone. Literally everyone and everything is useless. Treatment, if you can even get a good scan, goes along the lines of, don’t sit on it, cushions, jab it, nerve kill, chop it out!

The difficulty comes when it’s not the coccyx as the cause but anything else in that very busy area. Credit to Dr Foye he goes into everything that is connected in that zone.

For his area of expertise he covers everything. However what’s missing is coping mechanisms for this pain. Cognitive work for this pain. Whilst not his area of expertise he does touch on these and explains how the nervous system can become excellent at producing this pain due to constant hurt ie practice.

I don’t think he could do any better with this book, but you have to realise for many this is a complex body part and no quick fix. If I was that side of the pond I would see Dr Foye to get an accurate diagnosis and jab it! In the UK it’s Dr Hardy.

If the jabs don’t work then you best get tough and start mastering CBT and meditation for pain because you will have years of suffering trying to find the cause. Never give up and only as an ultimate last resort have it removed.

This comprehensive book deserves a comprehensive review. You can read a full review on my blog Tea and Cake for the Soul, but this is a must read for anyone with coccydynia, especially if you are struggling to get a diagnosis or treatment. It is written by one of the three coccyx experts in the world. Also check out the tailbone pain website. Highly recommended.

Appreciate this informative book

Thank you so much for writing this book. I found it informative. I was hoping it would have gone further in depth about symptoms of painful or dislocating coccyx, but it was still informative none the less.

So helpful if you're feeling lost or rejected by doctors who don't know how to help you.
