He abducts me to find his fated mate, unaware that I am she.

Knowing he’s the only man who can touch me, I crave his scorching caress. But I’ve sworn never to reveal that I am the witch. Not until he chooses me above her.

Wow! Okay. Where to start...? I have been putting off writing this review for two reasons: 1) because I'm tired of writing bad reviews already this year and 2) this book isn't worth my time. Yet here I finally am. (Yayyy *sarcasm*) I decided to read The Dragonian's Witch for the Author Alphabet Challenge I'm working on. I couldn't find much for (X). Anyways, This book really wasn't for me. I don't think I could have rolled my eyes any further to the back of my head. Honestly, I saw my brain at one point! Haha
Though this is a fast-paced read the writing felt mediocre, the world building wasn't much better, and the characters were flat, annoying, predictable and uninteresting. The sex scenes are ridiculously awkward, unbelievable and really all the sexual innuendo was distasteful and unnecessary.
The Dragonian's Witch is a mashup of so many genres. Maybe too many? IDK. It has a bit of fantasy, mythologies, paranormal, science fiction, history, and romance. It was magical and mystical. I think maybe there were just too many things going on. It also has a lot of other different elements to it like witches, Dragonian's, shifters, wolves, humans, angels, hybrid species, dragons, and so on.
Freyja—Wolf Girl—Frist Witch
Freyja is the main female character. She is the First Witch, half human/half angel. Her father was the evil King (angel) who was killed during the war. Living in the forest with her pack of wolves, Blaez (white Alpha), Lenka, Ty-Ohni and Hó’nehe. Freyja has been being hunted down by angels ever since. Unfortunately, I really didn't like her much, she was supposed to be this strong badass (First Witch) but she acted like an annoying, cold-hearted, whiney, spoiled child.
As for the Dragonian Prince, Ares Darken is a brut who comes across as an entitled possessive arrogant ass. Yeah, I didn't really care for him much either. Ares was told by the oracle that the wolf girl would lead him to 'his mate' the First Witch. Little did he know that Freyja was she. Fighting his attraction and desires for her so not to be unfaithful to his mate. Freyja leads him and his companions on a wild goose chase. Despite her own pull and desires, she refuses to tell Ares who she really is until he chooses her over the first witch. Which kinda drove me crazy and seriously had me wanting to strangle her because hello you stupid stupid girl, YOU ARE THE FIRST WITCH!!! I hate how she acted like the First Witch was a completely different entity from her. Though I will admit her idiotic jealousy over the First Witch was really funny at first it got old real quick. She also tries to escape over and over and over...again.
The only redeeming quality of this story but not by much was the wolf pack, the druid Merlin, Lucas the shifter, and Ventus and the other guardians Ignis, Glacies, and Mettalum. In which each one has their own abilities.
•Ventus—Guardian of Wind •Ignis—Guardian of Fire •Glacies—Guardian of Ice •Mettalum—Guardian of Metal
The Guardians are described as alligator-like creatures with enormous wings of talons and tails that could impale a man with one strike and are covered in scales. (Dragons)
Ventus is one of my favorite characters and I absolutely adored all of the other guardian's too! Lucas was so sweet and charming and he could change into a black panther. And lastly, I really really liked Merlin. He was very mysterious and made for a wonderful addition. I just wish there would have been MORE of him but sadly he has a small part.
All of this is crammed into this very short book and I hate that it was divided into two separate ones. It should be one damn book. Ugh, and on top of that, it ended on a freaking cliff hanger. So much for my wonderful plan of skipping The Witch's Consort (book #2) 😭😭😭. This is so so so not worth buying. Thank goodness I didn't have too. Also, this is not something I'd recommend. So if you do plan on reading it I wish you the best of luck. You've been warned!
*I read the audiobook version and although I didn't like the book that doesn't mean Kate Marcin (the Narrator) didn't do a fantastic job because she did. I love the way she narrates :)*
I really enjoyed the story and can't wait to see what is next for them. Freya is such a great character. She is strong and determined and has lived a life without human contact due to her ability to kill with a touch. She doesn't pity herself but focuses on her wolves instead and takes comfort in their love. Ares is unaware that what he is looking for is right there and I am eager to see his reaction when the secret comes out. They have this amazing chemistry.
Meg Xuemei X – The Dragonian's Witch (The First Witch Book 1)
This is an adventure filled with fantasy, sci-fi, drama and romance. It has angels, witches, hybrids, shifters and a lot more species ever imagined. I’ll try not to give too much spoilers for this book ;)
All the characters were interesting. Frejya is a clear-headed girl with special skills to defend herself. I love how she can be scared and unsure in a situation but manage to be calm in a sec to think of a strategic way out. She is no damsel in distress; she can kick anyone’s ass when needed.
Ares can be arrogant and cold (especially when he’s obsessing with his goal), but somehow he’s able to pull that off. He’s actually even hotter when he’s pissed. And with their intense chemistry, I must say I won’t mind being taken by him. Have you ever read a book where the leads are at each other’s throat one minute, and the next they are trying to keep their hand off each other? This one is comical, by the way, and you’ll find out as soon as you read the book
Just like her other book that I’ve read before (The Siren), the author introduces a world where a lot of interesting creatures are living in, with a fascinating history and technology. I was confused with some of the details during the first chapter, but eventually I was able to familiarize with their ‘world’. (So I read that this is sort of a ‘spin-off’ or continuation of another series, and I’ve already added that series on my “Want to Read” file).
Also, this book ends with a cliffhanger which will make you anticipate for the next one.
Overall, I am genuinely hooked with the story – the plot, the characters, everything. This is an epic quest of finding someone who doesn’t want to be found, but, ironically, happens to be just right under your nose.
Mostly listened to this because it worked for a challenge.
The Dragonian's Witch was an okay audiobook. Mostly painful to listen to but wasn't absolutely horrible? No idea if that even makes any sense.. but going with it. In it, you will meet Frejya and she's an interesting girl. It doesn't take long for her vagina to take over her brain and heart.. but I get it girl. She was surrounding by some beautiful men. Other than that, I honestly couldn't really connect with any of them.
I get the whole bad boy type or the usual asshole in any harem book.. but Ares was too much for my ears. Maybe he gets better in the next book? Or maybe Frejya will become more confident and less whiny? I don't know... and I have no idea if I want to even find out. Maybe if I have the time to spare to listen to it because this book really did fly by.
Overall, I saw it.. I listened to it.. and now I'm eating chips! GOODBYE!
Where to start? There were so many things wrong with this book that it's difficult to narrow them down. Ares is a brutish entitled jerk, Freyja is a whiny child, the characters are all flat, the world building is crap, the sex scenes are awkwardly written and totally unbelievable, and apparently Stockholm Syndrome is how you meet your mate. The only saving graces are the basic premise and the fact that it was edited decently.
I am doing an A through Z challenge and Meg Xuemei X is my pick for the letter X. I have never heard of Meg and while on Audible trying to figure out who can I choose to fulfill this letter she popped up.
When I came across her I did not know what to expect. This story has had a lot of mixed reviews some of it praises how great of a story it is and some of it not so great so I did not know how I was going to feel. I have to say that I loved this story. Like I am obsessed with this story and all of the characters.
Freyja is the heroine of the story and she has a lot going on. She is half angel and half advanced human, she runs with wolves, she gets kidnapped, and she is trying to stay alive. She is sarcastic, carefree at times, and just knows who she is. She also is very vulnerable and has to show that she is strong and that nobody can ruin her. If she's going to die she is going to die on her terms and not because somebody else took her out. She has been alone so long that she doesn't trust anybody besides her pack of wolves.
Aires is the heir to a throne however his brothers are trying to kill him because they don't believe that a half breed should rule them all. Aires is so single minded that he does not care about anything aside from finding the First Witch, aka Freyja. hat he believes that Freyja is just a means to an end. I get the fact that Aires is hell bent on finding the First Witch however he disregards her at every turn. And in turn she makes his life a living hell.
He fights his feelings and also his instincts when it comes to her. Every one around them know there is something going on even if his men don't trust her. While Aires is trying to find the First Witch Freyja does not know if the the feelings they have for one another is real. She does no if Aires is more intrested in her, Freyja wolf girl, or her, the First Witch.
This book ended on a major cliffhanger. It reminds me of watching Supernatural and the brothers are ready to fight to the death and the screen fades to black and your wondering what in the hell is going to happen next. That is what this story did. It ended with Freyja getting ready to fight for her life and that was it, end scene.
This is the first time I have listened to Kate Marcin. She was great and I would definitely listen to her again. I love doing reading challenges because it forces you to experience not only new narrators but also new authors. Meg might be on my one click list.
Freyja is the First Witch a hybrid born to an "Angel" and a human. She is the forbidden cross so she is constant danger from all directions so she hides who she is. She does have one weapon against them. The touch of her skin on someone brings almost instant death. She lives in the wilderness with her pack of wolves, the only ones who can bear her touch. Then one day she and her wolves are trapped by Dragonian warriors. As Freyja is plotting to escape, she finds out that the head warrior has been told by an oracle that the First Witch is his mate and that the wolf girl can lead him to the witch. Ares, the lead warrior is arrogant and rude to Freyja so she doesn't want to help him. However he is determined that she will lead him to the witch. Freyja is plotting how to escape without revealing her identity but she isn't indifferent to Ares. Even though she hates him, she intensely desires him. However she kills everyone she touches. Will Ares and Freyja ever open up to each other and become mates or will Freyja continue to lie? This is a good book with two characters who have a strong chemistry. I'm not sure if the will kill each other or mate each other. I can't wait to read the rest of the story.
After reading this book, all I can tell is: wow and what??? Where is the end?? This was fast pacing novel with new, fresh approach to magic and fantasy romance gender. I was captured form first page and was not able to stop reading till the end and then was very disappointed that it ends with cliffhanger… I would say this is only negative feature of this novel. Characters were great; I like strong, mouthy heroines and a bit clueless alpha heroes. In total novel was very well written with just right amount of action, humor, romance with great characters. I can't wait to see what will happen with Freyja and Ares in the next (and hope, last) book.
This is the first book I have read by the author and what a treat it is. This storyline has elements of science fiction, fantasy, paranormal and a little magic thrown in to create a delectable read. Freyja is the daughter of an Angel King with unique abilities and special powers. However, she is also the First Witch seeking anonymity by living with her wolf pack and hiding away from hunters and other angels who wish to kill her. However her life of freedom is short lived when she is captured by a Dragonian warrior prince to help him find the First Witch per the Oracle’s instruction. What the prince does not realize is that Freyja is the one he is seeking. As they get off on the wrong foot, Freyja is disinclined to tell Ares, the Dragonian prince, her true identity and what follows is a battle of wits between the two. However there is a more pressing problem because the more time they spend together, Freyja is harboring an intense attraction to Ares and he feels the same way towards her. They both run hot and cold and struggle to deal with their mutual attraction. The story grips the reader from the beginning and keeps spinning a web of intrigue from its inception. The banter between the main characters seems like a married couple. Watching Ares trying to balance his hard edged exterior with his soft heartedness and Freyja trying to come to grips with being abducted and forced to help find the First Witch is comical. I highly recommend this book as it is a thoroughly engaging read and I eagerly anticipate reading the next book. I volunteered to read an arc for a review.
This is a very good book combining magic, fantasy, sci-fi, and romance. The more I read it the more I enjoyed it. Freyja and Ares are a fascinating couple even though they don't know yet that they are fated to be together. Freyja wants Ares to choose her over his fantasy of the First Witch since he has no inkling that is who she really is. Of course, she won't come into her own until she is able to accept everything she is, including the dark half of her heritage. I recommend this book very much. I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review because I enjoyed it so much.
This was the first book I read by Meg Xuemei X. I am highly impressed. I loved this story and I can't wait to read the next book by Meg. It is so full of mystery and intrigue. It will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure things out. I loved the plot to the story because it is so different. I loved Freyja character because she is so full of spunk and is an extremely strong "Hybrid" and Ares is so full of himself that you can't help but like him. I love how this is a mix of paranormal and fantasy because it brings just the right amount of element to the story. I couldn't put it down until I got to the end. Now, I can't wait to read more. This is definitely one for the bookshelf. I voluntarily review an advance reader copy of this book with bells on. :-)
Talk about laugh out loud funny, there were several parts in this book where I couldn’t help but laugh. Freyja’s behaviour was so amusing, I loved how she was so willing to speak her mind where others wouldn’t have said it no matter how true it was, it made for some very funny dialog and reactions.
I found myself wanting to give Ares/Prince Darken a piece of my mind, his attitude would drive me nuts if I met someone like that.
The book left me dying to know what’s going to happen next and it’s going to be a while before I find out since this one is only just being released. It’s OK though, it will give me an excuse to re-read this one before book two is released.
I received a free Advanced Readers Copy of this book and voluntarily wrote this honest review.
This book ends with the dreaded cliffhanger. Ventus is one of my favorite characters who puts Freyja at ease given her situation. Everyone seems to know exactly who Freyja is except Ares and his henchmen and it's amazing he hasn't caught on yet. The jealousy Freyja has towards the First Witch is absolutely hilarious. I can't wait for the finale.
'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'
One of the best books I've read in the last few months. This story is a blend of fantasy and paranormal with some sprinkles of sci-fi tied up with a hot chemistry and witty dialogue romance. The world building was original with a unique twist on mythical beings. Please note this is not an YA book and it does end with a cliffhanger. I'm excited to read the next book in the series. * I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review. *
A mesmerizing concoction of fantasy, sci-fi, magic and drama, unique and breathtaking if you let yourself be pulled in. Freyja is a descendant of the vicious Angel King and an advanced human, a hybrid with unique abilities and powers. She is the First Witch, one of a kind, living freely and untamed with her wolf pack, hiding from Hunters who wish her death as abomination. But her wild life ends the day when a group of elite warriors led by a Dragonian prince kidnap her and force her to cooperate in order to find the First Witch, clueless that she is standing right in front of them. Freyja, royally pissed by their attitude, refuses to reveal her secrets and more or less plays their game, searching for a way out of the mess. What she did not count with, though, is the burning attraction and lust for Ares, the Dragonian heir. They are both hot and cold toward each other, struggling to find a common ground. But the trouble in their mutual attitude is not the only problem standing in the way. I am quite fond of Meg´s writing. She has the ability to take elements from various genres and combine them in a very pleasant way. Advanced humans, genetical and technical engineering, average humanity, futuristic weapons, all that combined with magical powers, races and creatures such as angels, druids or witches. Oh, and flying alligators. One must love those. The story was fast-pacing, developing naturally with many sharp twists and turns that keep the reader on alert. And I very much loved the characters and their interaction. Ares is a respectable warrior with soft heart in the right place, but his view of the reality is sometimes hilarious. Like, how could he expect someone so feral as Freyja would accept being abducted and forced to cooperate and be grateful for that? He did not understand her much, although he has a valid excuse for not knowing her true identity and considering her a mere human. Fatal mistake, and not only because of underestimating humans. On the other hand, Freyja is a great heroine, with fiery nature and sharp mind (and even sharper tongue), stubborn and internally conflicted, which leads to many interesting situations and drives the story forward. I love the way she plays with her kidnappers while fighting her own demons. Her crazy relationship with Ares adds much fun and drama to the story. Balanced with the suspense from the hunt, adventurous journey and lots of action, I must say I truly enjoyed the book.
It took a bit to get into the story but I did and it was really getting good then, BAM, cliffhanger. Ugh. I want book two now... ***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
Freyja is the First Witch. The touch of her skin on another person is instant death for them. Subsequently she stays in the wilderness with her wolves to avoid said tragedy. However, she can't have a close relationship with any man. Ares an arrogant Dragonian Prince abducts her thinking she can lead him to the First Witch his presumed mate. The chemistry with Freyja and Ares is delicious. She lusts for him and he for her, but he tries to stay faithful to his goal. He finds her annoying yet he is attracted to her. She tries constantly to escape and lets him know that she doesn't consider his abduction of her to be a rescue. I am very into this story and am quite taken by the yin yang of their relationship. I will get right into the next book.
I picked up this book because of an A-Z Women's Author Challenge and I needed an X author. If it weren't for this challenge, I would have DNF'd this because I absolutely hated it.

This was a good book and I plan of continuing the series.
This story is faced paced with excitement on every page. It's a blend of the magical, mystical, and paranormal. Shifters, humans, angels, hybrid species and Dragonians. It's a fantasy realm where even Merlin is a a key character. This is a story about a Dragonian Prince searching for his true mate, the First Witch. He's been directed to find the wolf girl who will lead him to her. The wolf girl is actually the First Witch in hiding but she wants nothing to do with this arrogant Prince. The Prince is desperate to find his mate and ignore the raging desire he feels for the wolf girl. The wolf girl is desperate to escape him and seek the help of two immortals sequestered away behind a magical wall protecting their kingdom. It's the kind of story you can't put down. In TJ fairness of disclosure, the author gave me this book to read for an honest review but believe me - this is an amazing story and you won't regret adding it to your bookshelf.
So this in my opinion wasn't really a full book, it leaves off mid scene and didn't really seem long enough to warrent separating into multiple parts.
I really think this could have benefitted from Ares point of view, he comes across like a bug slow, stubborn brute who thinks too much with his penis. With a character as intriguing as Freya there has to be more to him than that for him to counter balance Freya, but we don't get the see that because of the single first person point of view.
Again the sex bothered me, the guy kidnapped her, after abusing and threatening the lives of what was essentially her family, but the moment she learns he can touch her she's alternating between begging for sex and trying to run away, and I really don't buy that as a realistic reaction.
Like I said in my other review the world and the plot have endless potential, they're fascinating. The characters presented, especially many of the secondary characters draw you in and make you want this world and story to work. The problem is all that is put on the back burner to make room for more sex scenes, often in places where they don't make a lot of sense. It's like there's some sort of sex quota to be met and they're being thrown in wherever just to do so rather than a natural evolution between the characters.
I hated that this was a half of a book. Not a true duet. It stops in the middle of everything. I fact in the middle of a conflict, so even worse. In no way would this story stand on its own. The only reason I'm not truly mad is that I am reading it on KU, but it is not worth buying as it is. You will have no choice but to buy the second book to feel anything but frustration reading a half of an unfinished story. Most duets get tied in together, but they can still not have you saying WTH after you finish the last page and wonder where the rest of it is.
So why 4 stars? This actually takes place 20 years after the Mythian Princess and you should definitely read that story first. It was so good and this follows in that vain. The leading it first will fill in so much back story and enrich this one overall. This is a good story. My complaint is the way she chose to market them as separate stories instead of combining the duet into a single story. Like she did with the 8 parts of the Mythian Princess story. I would have hated reading those separate pieces, as they suffered the same issue. This author has a problem writing parts of series. Most author's know that you have them feel complete with some dangling carrots to be picked up in the next volume. You don't stop in the middle and call it a book.
The Oracle sent our hero to find the one who would lead him to his mate. They both are hunted for who they are, their traveling companions the only protection. Our heroine has remained hidden her entire life and now she is struggling with her attraction to him. Trust and communication are not strong suits for either of them and they are about to find out the consequences.
I’ve come accords this book before and I don’t normally read angel stuff because I worry it will be too much about religion. I’m glad I decided to give it a try it was great. I couldn’t put it down. I love that it is different from most fated mate books and the characters are fun. Can’t wait for the next one.
This is a review for both book 1 & 2. I liked book 1 better than book 2, enough to go on to book 2 -in spite of all the hiccups. After book 2, I wish I hadn't wasted my time on either book, as it left me frustrated with the whole thing. So in the end I'm not sure how to rate the books. The flow was stop & go, some parts seemed like they took forever to get thru, while others sped along & held my attention. I was a bit confused by the wording, sometimes it was written in an old English style, sometimes it was modern including slang. Then there's the references to spaceships, ray guns and technology, genetic modification, angels & fey. Because of this, I wasn't sure of the time frame this was to be set in, is it future apocalyptic or ancient past (it can't be both!)? These inconsistencies pulled me out of the story -a lot! Then there's the world building, I thought it was minimalistic at best, I never really had a grasp on so much of the stuff going on, or it came so late in the books as to be irritating to wait so long to give the info to the reader. Also, so are the angels actual angels or are they aliens, I couldn't decide? How did the civilizations get to the point to have genetic modified beings, & why was Freyja considered the "one witch" -since I didn't see anything witchy about her in either book? As to the main characters, they were very flat, & I really didn't know them any better at the end of the story. I just didn't like either of them, I liked some of the secondary characters more than the main characters. Freyja was just to manipulative and selfish -all the way to the end. I couldn't get behind the manipulations. Ares was just too over the top, almost bipolar in his behavior, & misogynist, for my tastes. He thought he was right all the time & far superior to anyone else out there, let alone a woman he holds captive. He was so single minded over the Oracle's specification to find the one witch, it was annoying. The ending felt rushed and I didn't appreciate the HEA for the couple being taken away by the Oracle. That was just unnecessary for wrapping up the story. I really wish I could get my time back.
This book!! I laughed out loud multiple times and flipped those pages so fast to find out what happened next. Do NOT continue reading if you don’t want spoilers. We have Freyja, the First Witch as our FMC, and her destined mate, Ares, although this “wolf girl” doesn’t know he’s her destined mate until Ares shows up claiming to look for the First Witch. Our FMC doesn’t admit who she is to Ares, even though she is drawn to him and knows that he believes the First Witch is his destined mate. She wants him to want “her” more than he wants his precious “First Witch”, even though they are one in the same. The heat and chemistry in this book was absolutely great. Had me shifting in my seat a little 😜 but there was several times I just kept wanting to scream, “TELL HIM WHO YOU ARE AND IT WILL SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS!” Girl likes boy, boy likes girl, boy believes “First Witch” is his soulmate, girl is said “First Witch” but doesn’t tell boy, boy fights his attraction because he’s saving himself for his soulmate, round and around we go. With all that being said, I still enjoyed the book and the second one. It was a light, steamy, quick read, and although I feel like a lot of the angst and longing could have been avoided, I still recommend this duo!
Last night I'm reading and I can't keep my eyes open... I'm at a great part in the book... I can I keep my eyes open, please just one more page I beg.... Nope I gave up and went to sleep.. it said I had 91% still to read... So I wake up and now my day has settled down.. I sit back and start reading... Then I turned the page... Then the next... Oh God the action I just love it.. turn the page again... CONTINUED IN BOOK 2........😭
Don't you laugh... I hear you.. stop laughing... I give up laugh... It's funny
I loved this book.. I had action, romance... This seams like it is a spin off series.. but if you stared with this like it did you can still keep up... Freyja lives with a pack of wolves... Hoping to hide... But one day Ares is sent to find the wolf girl because she will find the First Witch... This book had great characters and wow what the supporting characters added to the book... Made me feel like I was right in the action...
I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18 as it does have sexual content... Sorry kiddos find some other book to read.. lol...
The Dragonian's Witch is the first book in a duet set in the same world as the Empress of Mysth, about 2o years after Rose and Seth saved the planet from his father and brother.
This book introduces us to Freyja, a girl who lives with wolves as the alpha of their pack, who has been hunted by rogue angels for her entire life. She is not just any orphan, but the daughter of one of Rose's courtiers and the evil King they were sent to distract during the war. She is also the First Witch, though she's kept that secret well.
But unfortunately for Freyja, she is captured by a half Dragonian, in search of his mate. Told by an oracle that a wolf girl will lead him to his mate, the First Witch, Ares' plan is thrown into chaos when he is uncontrollably attracted to this wild girl who is supposed to be the key to his fate.
This book is an exciting first book in this duet. I really enjoyed reading more about this version of earth and getting a look at the world after the great war from the Empress of Mysth series. I love Freyja. She is feisty and powerful and I can't wait to see what she does next!
Ares, the Dragonian Prince was told by an oracle that a wolf girl would lead him to his fated mate. She would help him rule and she was the first witch. So him and some of his men found the girl after searching for four months. He found her with a pack of wolves in the forest. Unbeknownst to him the wolf girl is the first witch. Freyja, the First Witch, is half human/half angel. Her father was an evil angel who was killed during a war. Now angel hunters are after her. She doesn't tell Ares that she is the first witch and leads him astray as she tries to escape from him. The book is okay but ends on a cliffhanger. I also didn't like Freyja at times. She seemed like she was a spoiled brat because at times she was a strong person, then she turned whiney. She would decide that she liked someone then she would dislike them because of what they said or didn't do for her. I like the story line so I will finish the book to find out what happens. You can try it and see if you have a different opinion.
