J.S. Marlo spent her childhood in a small French Canadian town, reading and daydreaming stories. One day, she met her hero, a dashing young officer, and followed him back and forth across the country.
The "memorable" adventures she experienced with her young family fuelled her imagination and kindled the dream of one day becoming a published author. When her three spirited children left the nest in pursuit of their own adventures, J.S. gave writing a chance.
J.S. currently lives in Alberta with her amazing hubby, and when she's not visiting her children or spoiling her little granddaughter, she's working on her next novel under the northern lights.
I love reading new authors and getting immersed in new series, especially those that are out of what i usually read in genres. Truthfully, until i had the chance to read Thin Ice, i hadn't heard of J.S. Marlo, and boy was it ever a surprise as i read this book. Being the second novel in the series, i was incredibly pleased that i didn't need to read the previous instalment to understand what was going on.
3 cuddle worthy dreams
So, i have to say it: i was absolutely impressed with J.S. Marlo. I'm Canadian, speak French and live in the province of Quebec, so to find an author whose knowledge of all three aspects is spot on, is incredibly satisfying. You can't imagine how many times i'll itch to keep quiet on some of the language translations or the particular quirks Canadians have that are simply done wrong. As for the story itself, it was captivating and unexpected as well. More centered on the suspense of Thierry's disappearance, i didn't think it would have been possible to slide a new romance, but J.S. Marlo does it with an amazing talent. I really look forward to reading more from this author and finding out what else she has to offer.
New beginnings and second chances, a bit of intrigue and suspense with a dash of danger tossed in, and it makes for a fast read. Even though there are a couple things that happen in the book that aren’t all that realistic, it definitely is worth a read with a clean romance. Reviewed by Cyrene
Thin Ice is a tremendous accomplishment in storytelling and an engaging read. The love story between Julie and Luke is heartwarming, and Thierry's upstanding personality and desire to do the right thing amid scary circumstances are admirable.
