I really liked Jack's character, and the fact that he was able to overcome the things that prevented him from settling down. It was great that he met someone like Maya when he was at his lowest. (I voluntarily reviewed this free ebook).

Jack was the sole survivor of his seal team and continually moved from place to place since leaving the navy. When he gets injured he gets help from Maya, a doctor who runs a clinic. These two develop a wonderful relationship with each other though Jack fights it. Maya is also a strong character who is easily likeable and endearing. Slowly Jack starts to put down roots. There is action and at times humor in this story. What also made this a great read is the secondary characters of George and Juliet. They enhanced this story as we also watched their relationship for with each other and Jack.

I reviewed this book as part of an arc program. I loved this story, I thought it was well written and did a very good job with Jack's emotional issues as well as his fear of friendship. Maya was a doctor in a small town and ran a clinic. one night a man was brought in after being found in the ocean and suffering from a gunshot wound. Maya treated him and found his identification, learning he was a former navy seal named Jack. After seeing his old scars, she knows he has suffered in the past and is determined to help him emotionally as well as physically. Jack has never stayed in one place and has no family and he feels responsible for his fellow seals dying in the war. The longer he stays with Maya, the more attached to her he becomes. Jack has to decide if being with Maya or being a nomad is for him. I really enjoyed this story about how anyone can become family and home is wherever they are. It did have a little emotional impact on me, I liked Jack and how he deals with his issues.
