Exiled from his home planet for loving an enemy, Vince turned to space piracy aboard the Cygnus. Disguised as a human thanks to his species’ shifting abilities, Vince feels secure. But he’s not safe from memories of his murdered lifemate—or from a growing attraction to Trent Rolston, the ship’s captain, he feels honor bound to ignore.

Trent, though, is determined to prove to Vince there’s nothing wrong with becoming more than friends. But Vince is surprised by his species’ mating call, despite being deep in space and far from home.

Just as their relationship begins to evolve, the Cygnus comes under attack from hunters determined to destroy Vince and his chosen family.

Pulling the plug at 22%. I was enjoying this until the introduction of the super villain. The small bit I’ve seen was admittedly a very quick and limited introduction but I’m not in the mood for homophobia so extreme that the ruler of a nation is committed to chasing someone throughout the galaxy just so they can murder them for being gay. That said, I can see myself coming back to this one when I’m in a different headspace or the right mood.

What a romp this was! Space pirates (the nice kind), alien werewolves, non-binary telepaths, and lots and lots of adventure!
This was both a fun and a very emotional read. I loved Vince's story, the journey he makes from grief anger to a place within himself where he can finally let go of his past and overcome his demons, both internal and external. His romance with Trent was so moving and beautiful.
If you're looking for a fast-paced, romance-centered space opera novella, this is definitely a book you'll want to check out.

Rogue Wolf starts off with action, almost immediately, and continued at a fairly consistent pace throughout the journey. Trent, the Captain of the Cygnus, a Pirate Spaceship, and his rag-tag crew made for a lot of fun, some tears, and had me truly invested in the outcome.

Vince, a fenrite (alien wolf shapeshifter) previously exiled from his home world, wrapped himself in his human skin and has been on the Cygnus crew for years. As the years have passed Trent and Vince’s feelings have grown for each other. The problem is that even though Trent is on board with taking things to the next level with his friend and crewmate, Vince does everything he can to ignore the pull he feels, and friend-zones Trent constantly. Alas, the heart wants what it wants, though, and every now and again Vince’s yearning comes through, giving Trent a taste that the feelings are mutual.

This was a fun little romp, yet it also had a sort of depth to it that gave it a seriousness, especially for Vince and the emotional journey he takes. Straight up, Vince is a mess, and readers join the party just as it all starts to unravel for him; past and present collide, and it’s time for him to face it all. I became invested in his personal journey as he comes to terms with what happened to him, and that he deserves more than what he is allowing himself.

During the story you get the romantic tension of Vince fighting his past, and his guilt, to come to terms with his feelings for Trent. All the while battles are happening, the crew of the Cygnus has other ships to steal from, and the rest of the crew are all up in their heads (I mean that literally, as the crew consists of some pretty amazing alien telepathic species that I just adored) as Vince’s past comes back and could destroy them all.

Interestingly enough, I realize that although I was cheering for Cygnus and its team, they weren’t exactly good guys. I mean, they were space pirates and made their living by lying, cheating, stealing and sometimes hurting beings on other ships, but they were just so likable, dang it! So, while they were doing pirate-y things, I was wanting the not-so-good-guys to come out of it unscathed. I always find it interesting when an author can have me so in-like with their characters that I am willing to overlook the less than stellar moral compass they have going on. Or, ignoring my moral compass and being on their side.

Though this was not an insta-love, it also wasn’t a super slow-burn, either. The romantic tension already exists, as Vince and Trent have been together as friends for years, so the build-up to it wasn’t really on page. Every now and again little tidbits about their history is revealed, and it helps to solidify the foundation, but I’ll admit I would have liked a little more understanding about how they originally met and how their relationship evolved to what it became. I got a taste of it, but I wanted more.

If you like shifters and sci-fi, I suspect you will enjoy this fun little space-romp.

Vince is a werewolf or fenrite. He happens to be in exile for loving someone in a different pack (I didn't get it was because he was gay, but it certainly could have been part of it). He is now part of a pirate crew and this is his chosen family.
This started off right into the action. It wasn't difficult to figure out what was going on, enough info was given. Both Vince and Trent are likable as are the secondary characters.

Shifters in space? Sign me up. As soon as I read the blurb for this one, I was quick to snatch it up. Sci fi and fantasy were my first love, so I was really looking forward to the merging of both genres with a healthy dose of romance. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end, even if there were a few small details I felt could have been developed better.

I loved the attraction between Trent and Vince. Trent values all his crew, and even though he’s pirating to make his living, he has a high morality where they are concerned. I loved his relationship with his crew members, and I really liked that as much as he wanted Vince, he didn’t push too hard. But Trent did push a little, just enough to get Vince to open up and share his fears and feelings. I especially liked that he wasn’t going to let Vince face the threat on his own, and that he was a solid reminder of everything Vince had to live for.

Vince has got a lot working against him. Guilt over his lifemate’s murder being the biggest. Vince’s emotional journey was the biggest pay off for me here. He goes from drowning his sorrows and pain, to standing up for what he loves. His pain at his loss felt real, and it made sense that he would push against his new attraction instead of embracing it. In the end, he found the strength to do what was right and to fight against those who threaten his mate and the crew he thinks of as family.

The world building was fairly solid, if there were some points that needed to be fleshed out a bit. If you’re a fan of the sci fi genre, it won’t be too hard to just go with it. There are also some shifter tropes here as well, but not used in the traditional sense. I thought, for the most part, it was a nice blend. Again, I would have liked a little bit better explanation about how certain things worked, but it wasn’t a huge detriment to the story.

I’ve really enjoyed stories by this author before and I liked this one. This author can write some amazingly thorough world building in a smaller page count. Something I totally appreciate. Rogue Wolf is a mash up of Sci Fi and shifter romance. There is the mate trope that’s not always my favorite. The guys seem to fall into insta lust/love quickly but there is some history between them that helped me get past how fast they get together. The MCs have been friends and working together raiding ships for years. Vince is a shifter exiled from his home planet after he was caught mating with a rival clan member.Trent is the captain of their ship. He’s made his attraction known to Vince but Vince has resisted. Until a random attack by a clan from his home planet brings the wrath of his race down on Trent’s ship. Vince is forced to face what he’s been running from.

This was a quick and entertaining read with good world building. I found the battle scenes entertaining. Vince’s people, the shifters, to be intriguing. There is the traditional hierarchy of a shifter pack with a violent history. Vince is seen as a traitor and a deserter with a price on his head. The other crew members offer a wayward family of sorts with the added bonus of unique powers. I think this one is definitely worth picking up if you like shifters and or sci fi.

Shifter romance is not usually my bag, but although this had some pack dynamics, it also had fun world-building, somewhere between Trek (several humanoid alien species; real planets and stars) and Firefly (pirates! a small crew of them) with a dash of Zahn (space-warping "trains"). It also doesn't really foreground either the romance or the space operatics, they both, uh, vie for dominance. So to speak.

I liked this book but it seemed scattered at times. I will probably read more of this author's work.

Very good read! I loved the different settings and the exploration of different cultures. I think the way Elliot handle the mate trope was very well done. It included that "instant attraction mixed with slow realization" that I love so much. The ending made sense, but I would have loved some more foreshadowing, instead of the Deus ex machina vibe it has right now. Of course, that's only my personal preference and other than that I really liked the book and would recommend it to those who love sci-fi, shifters, and romance

Well if you are into love in space, this is the book for you! It's full of tension, chemistry, love, and some fighting in between. My kind of book.

As in the blurb, you can see the story revolves around Vince and Trent, and they are definitely my favorites in this book. Vince is the brooding alpha male, who doesn't talk much or let anyone in. Trent is the alpha male, who is determined to break down the walls that Vince has put up. Vince has had a rough life and he melts my heart in this story. He has lost his lifemate and because of who it was he was exiled on top of it. His species only mates for life, so when he starts having feelings for Trent he doesn't know what to do. His animal side wants so much to revel in the scent of Trent, and his sexy body, but he is afraid he will forget his former lifemate or betray his memory. He is so scared and scarred. Trent sees the attraction Vince has but as much as Vince is fighting it, he isn't sure he should act on it. In a drunken stupor on night things progress but not all the way.

The chemistry between these two is powerful and you want to smack both of them in the head to get it together. Vince needs to let go and realize who his new lifemate can be. As his past comes back to haunt him, he learns real quick what is most important. He is hunted by hunters from his kind for his past and for just being alive. He learns during all these battles that Trent is his rock and is there for him no matter what happens. I love that about these two. That they push hard to get through whatever they are going through. Vince learns there are second chances in life, and Trent learns to be patient and more understanding. And when they finally do get it together, whoa baby. The sex is amazing and carnal and passionate.

I hope that you enjoy this book as much as I do. It is a book I will definitely be reading again.

Rogue Wolf is the story of Vince and Trent, members of a little misfit crew on a pirate spaceship. Vince is a Fenrite—a wolf shapeshifter—who was exiled from his home planet and now poses as a human. But when Fenrite Hunters threaten Vince's crew, Vince is forced to wrestle with his feelings about the past, his identity, and Trent, his captain and long-time partner in space piracy.

My favorite part about this book was Vince's emotional journey. It felt authentic, pulled me in, and had me shedding a few empathetic tears. If you're looking for a sex-driven romance, this story isn't it, but it isn't fade-to-black, and the relationship between Vince and Trent was quite sweet (though it plays second fiddle to the action-based external plot). I also loved the other members of Vince and Trent's crew, even if I had trouble telling two of them apart for the entire story. The external antagonistic force required a lot of suspension of disbelief , but the story wrapped up nicely in the end. I'd recommend this to fans of sci-fi M/M but would caution those of shifter stories that though Rogue Wolf has some classic shifter tropes—mating season and knotting—they didn't feel fully indulged or explored.
