Doctor's Orders

Rate this book
Despite a recent breakup which left her feeling more insecure about herself than ever, Janie Michaels decides to throw caution to the winds after meeting Rafe Elliott. The tall, handsome millionaire's warmth and kindness help her open up to him, but it is his readiness to take charge in the bedroom in a very specific, very embarrassing way that really sets her heart racing.Rafe's sprawling estate provides the perfect setting for all of Janie's naughtiest fantasies, and soon enough she is experiencing the kind of deeply humiliating medical play she has dreamed about for many years. Naked, bound, and on display, she is intimately examined, thoroughly cleansed, and subjected to one treatment after another, each more shameful than the last.Blushing crimson yet quivering with desire, Janie is brought to one shattering climax after another, and Rafe's dominant lovemaking leaves her utterly satisfied. Their passion for one another grows more intense by the day, but Rafe has a secret that he cannot keep from her forever. When Janie learns the truth at last, will it tear their newfound romance apart?Publisher's Doctor's Orders includes sexual scenes, spankings, and extensive medical play. Jaye Elise suffers from a perpetual case of wanderlust, but seems to have settled down - for now - in the Pacific Northwest. She's excited to write the types of books that she loves to read, namely the steamy kind. Although she's at her most comfortable (and wicked) when writing in the Romance and Erotica genres, she also enjoys reading murder mysteries and gripping historical fiction.

Her hobbies include reading tawdry paperbacks in full view of complete strangers, watching James Bond marathons (and skipping the late Roger Moore films), and overdosing on caffeine.

When she's not writing, you can find Jaye hiking with her wonderful husband, traveling all over the globe, or diving into a new book (see above).

I read this whole book and even though I loved the writing and the love between the two characters the subject matter wasn't my thing I didn't get it at all, however I loved this writers 2nd book and would read many more by her.

Unlike so much of today's erotica, Jaye Elise's Doctor's Orders is beautifully crafted writing. The characters are multi-dimensional and believable. The story pulls you into its narrative with the first paragraph and keeps you reading to find out how the characters resolve the conflicts separating them. Their efforts along the way make for some steamy reading and are a love story that would stand on its own even without the details that make it erotica. There are twists and turns and humor enough to make the reading enjoyable in its own right.

The story delves into paraphilias as diverse as playing doctor, klismaphilia, and algolagnia; but manages to do so in a way that makes none of these desires its central theme. The story should appeal just as much to erotica lovers who have no interest in those particular kinks as it will to readers who are bored by any sex without one or more of them included.

If you love romance stories that get steamy and explicit, this book squarely hits that mark. If playing doctor, klismaphilia, or algolagnia happen to float your boat, sail on over and grab a copy quickly, because stories that explore these paraphilias and are also well-crafted writing are few and far between.

Love & kink

This book was an interesting read about some taboo subjects, but also about deep trust, need,& love. I probably wouldn't volunteer for some ideas in this story but, it definitely kept my interest.

Although this story is set in a BDSM and more setting, I applaud the writer's sensitive approach to the emotional problems of the two main characters. I was absolutely rooting for an Hea for the two of them. Thanks for a very thoughtful story.

This was a very well written story about 2 lost souls who find each other and work through their kinks and problems. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow closer and overcome serious issues. Not for everyone, but even without the kink it was a good story.

Doctor’s Orders is by Jaye Elise, who is a new author for me. There are pretty much only two characters prevalent in this book with the heroine’s friend making an occasional appearance. Our hero, Rafe, is an Agoraphobic. He runs his business online from his house and he’s the ‘Doctor” in this tale, though I never quite figured out if he had any real medical training.

Rafe meets Janie when she goes online. She decides she’s going to pursue her darkest fantasy of getting enemas with exams. (I might be down for some of the exam portion, but the enemas? Yeah, I’d run the other direction.) After getting some crazy responders she meets Rafe. The two of them talk and discover that they have quite a bit in common. After lots of talking and video chatting, she makes an appointment with him for the long weekend. She’s also got self-worth issues thanks to a co-worker whom she dated for a bit, then overheard saying to a group of men, “Pay up, I bagged that big horse.”

Rafe and Janie spend the weekend doing lots of medical play, including enemas, watersports, and other stuff that would have had me personally driving in the other direction, but that’s me. They hit it off. But Rafe takes a long time in telling her about his problem, and when he does….Will they break up forever? Something happens to Janie that just may change things. Grab yourself a copy and see what happens. Very hot romance!

Good book

I found this book to be interesting. I wasn't comfortable with the frequent enema punishments. However, I found the relationship between Janie and Rafe to be again, interesting and it explored feelings that a lot of us have when just beginning a new relationship. Since the sex is unusual I can't think of anyone I could recommend this book to. Maybe I need to expand my friendships?

New writer for me and I love the style. WHEW! This is one of those I-need-to-fan-myself books...it's off the charts nasty (in a good way!). This story had an unique premise, interesting characters and was very sexy.

Nice romantic story incorporating medical kink.
It is a romantic book first of all that incorporate erotic and steamy scenes in it. Two individuals will find their true soulmate through sharing their mutual kink. The woman wishes to fulfill her fantasy to be administered an enema by a caring partner while the man will bring her pleasure with a more developed medical fetishism. A very nice story and excellent introduction about anal pleasures.

Sorry to report, but this was another DNF for me at about 60% in. It wasn’t the level of kink I had an issue with, but the writing and the complete lack of tension.

Let’s start with the kink. This erotic romance focuses on medical play, specifically enemas. I don’t find these particularly sexy, but I wanted to keep an open mind. I mean, I’ve read about other kinks that wouldn’t work for me on real life, but were described in an arousing way in fiction. The med play in itself was not an issue for me, just to make this clear. I will say that it was a weird mix of kinky erotic play with an overly sweet romance. For me, that didn’t jibe at all.

Janie and Rafe actually meet on a site dedicated to kink play, and bond over a fondness for med play. He’s got the experience, and she wants to experiment. You may think this is perfect, but it immediately takes away a whole lot of potential tension. The kink itself is no longer a source of tension, because she wants it, he’ll provide it, so all that’s left is to see how far they will go.

In their romance, there’s little tension as well. It’s instalove, as is often the case in books like this. I can live with that, if there was something that would keep them apart. They’re overly sweet from the moment they meet. No ‘will they, won’t they’ here, no tension whatsoever. They’re completely compatible in every way, so nothing is keeping them apart—another area where there’s no tension. He calls her ‘my sweet girl’ in, like, every other sentence, which gets incredibly annoying.

Rafe’s ‘secret’ (I won’t spoil the plot in case you’ll still want to read this book) is no secret for us as readers, so there’s no tension in what it is. The only question is whether she’ll accept it or not. That’s all that we have to wonder about as readers, and that’s too little to keep my attention.

Also, there's a lot of telling in this book, as opposed to showing.

I enjoyed this book. Lovely characters, sexy, imaginative and fun while still tackling some serious subjects. I’m sure it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I liked it a lot and would love some more please. 4.3 stars.
